I have to admit that summer is my least favorite season. Good thing there are so many new releases coming out to keep me inside and in front of my fan. But first, here are some popular upcoming July books that didn’t make our personal list of picks:
Victoria Schwab is starting a brand new series with This Savage Song ( A | BN | K | G | AB ).
If you’re anxious to read the follow up to The Bourbon Kings, J.R. Ward’s The Angels’ Share ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) is also out this month!
Shiny Broken Pieces by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) – Check out Redheadedgirl’s review of the first book, Tiny Pretty Things.
Shiloh Walker’s Ruined ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) comes out and is book four in the Barnes Brothers series.
Which books made it onto your TBR pile this month?

This man could very well conquer her heart. But does he feel the same?
As the rivalry among the remaining bride candidates intensifies and the plot for the throne unfolds, Evony must make a grave choice: fulfill her destiny and protect her people or follow her heart and pursue true love.
Either way, the honor of the Amazzi people and the future of the empire now rests with Evony of Aureline. For she is the Emperor’s Arrow.

So when he pulls her onstage for a sexy stunt, she knows she’s in real trouble.Lex doesn’t want to pretend that the sparks on stage between him and Aubrey never happened, but it certainly makes the fact that she’s writing a story on his band all the more dangerous. The Woman in Cabin 10
Author: Ruth Ware
Released: July 19, 2016 by Gallery/Scout Press
Genre: Mystery/ThrillerFrom New York Times bestselling author of the “twisty-mystery” (Vulture) novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, comes The Woman in Cabin 10, an equally suspenseful and haunting novel from Ruth Ware—this time, set at sea.
In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong…
With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.
Elyse says: A woman thinks she sees a murder aboard a cruise ship, but no one believes her. My kind of psychological thriller.

Series: The Wedding Belles #1USA TODAY bestselling author Lauren Layne is the “queen of witty dialogue and sexy scenes” (Rachel Van Dyken)! Now, Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles, her sizzling brand new contemporary romance series about three ambitious wedding planners who can make any bride’s dream come true…but their own.
Discovering her fiance is an international con man just moments before they exchange vows devastates celebrity wedding planner Brooke Baldwin’s business—and breaks her heart. Now a pariah in Los Angeles, she seeks a fresh start in New York City and thinks she’s found it with her first bridal client, a sweet—if slightly spoiled—hotel heiress. Then she meets the uptight businessman who’s holding the purse strings.
Seth Tyler wishes he could write a blank check and be done with his sister Maya’s fancy-pants wedding. Unfortunately, micromanaging the event is his only chance at proving Maya’s fiance is a liar. But can he persuade a wedding planner on a comeback mission to unplan a wedding? And more importantly, how will he convince her that the wedding she should be planning… is theirs?
Amanda says: So I love Layne’s dialogue and she writes some pretty edgy and mouth heroines, but I’m curious how that will translate into a more subdued setting. Her previous books that I’ve read have had city settings with cop characters and a series set in the magazine world. But, I do love uptight heroes.

Alice Clayton, take mah money it’s a romantic comedy about CHEESE ffs! It’s like all the things I love are in one place. If Benedict Cumberbatch narrates the audio book I may fall into a swoon at all this perfection.
I love Molly Harper’s werewolf series, in fact it’s probably time for a re-read! Definitely check it out.
And HOW DID I MISS that “Duke of Sin” by Hoyt had come out!! Seriously just take my entire paycheck bookstore.
I just used the rest of my Amazon refund (dolla dolla bills y’all) on preordering Harry Potter. Which I will then dangle gleefully in front of my kids chanting, “I get it first!!!” Which probably won’t faze them too much, because they’re both reading Sorcerer’s Stone (I expect my daughter will be on to Chamber of Secrets sometime next week), but it will give me satisfaction.
Apropos of nothing, the rest of the gift card was spent on The Loving Push by Temple Grandin, A Red-Rose Chain by Seanan Mcguire, and Nuts by Alice Clayton. I only got about $40 back. I probably should have saved it for my outstanding preorders (A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir and Do You Want Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare), but OH WELL I REGRET NOTHING.
You are killing me! I’m giddy and I don’t know where to start!! So much catnip!! Please, please, please let the GBPL’s budget cover some of these. Mine can’t stretch much further because, in addition to the Alice Clayton and Saga Vol 6, I already have a chunk of it reserved for:
Rachel Gibson’s latest Just Kiss Me out July 26 NEW RACHEL GIBSON!! I squee.
Nalini Singh’s <Rock Wedding. A Rock Wedding!!! I can’t. I just can’t.
Anna Lee Huber’s new Lady Darby mystery As Death Draws Near.
There are three historical mysteries coming this month. Ancient Roman mysteries by Lindsey Davis and Ruth Downie. And the latest Lady Darby mystery which the trade paperback can be preordered T Amazon for $7.99 or something close to that. Unfortunately the Kindle version is still $11.99.
I’m SO READY to read Heroine Complex!!! Between female POC as the protags and superpowers and evil cupcakes, there’s legit nothing about it that doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a really fun read.
Another book I’m really looking forward to snagging is Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell’s Fast Connection (book 2 in the Cyberlove series). Two bisexual dudes who go from being f*ck buddies to falling in love? Yes, please! It drops July 11 at all the usual places. 🙂
Oh my god Heroine Complex. Is this what I’ve wanted all along?
I’m with you Amanda on uptight heroes being lovely. There’s something appealing about an over-responsible dude. Louche boys are terrible at emotional labor.
I’m currently listening to “Nuts” and am in love. I don’t usually like first person POV, but I don’t actually mind it with this one. As soon as I’m done, I’ve got “Cream of the Crop” all ready to go. I’m flying this weekend (at the ungodly hour of 7 AM, which means an even ungodlier hour of 4AM wake up call, so I can get to SFO on time), so hopefully, I’ll get to finish the audiobook on the plane.
Heroine complex hooked me with “supernatural karoke battles.” SOLD!
I look forward to reading Cream of the Crop after fangirling about Nuts. I’ve been on a romantic suspense kick lately and will be all over Sandra Owen’s Only Her later this month.
The only thing that troubles me about growing older is wondering how I can find time to read all the books I want to read when so many enticing new books arrive each month. Whoever said “So many books, so little time” was so right!
So I’m busily clicking away between Amazon and Audible. I unintentionally found myself at another “Cream of the Crop.” Um … yeah. Interesting, but not **this** “Cream of the Crop.” :/
Volume 5 of Ms. Marvel will be out 12 July!
I’m waiting for Ward’s The Angel’s Share, Nalini Singh’s Rock Wedding and Courtney Milan’s Hold Me, which is also supposed to be out this month.
