Hello fellow Stitchy Bitches! It’s time for another summer crafting giveaway, this time for our cross stitching readers.

Included in this giveaway are:
- A Bucilla Bluebird counted cross stitch kit. This kit includes floss, needles, aida cloth and the pattern–everything you need for the project. The finished piece measures 10 X 8″.
- A copy of Subversive Cross Stitch: 50 F*cking Clever Designs For Your Sassy Side by Julie Jackson. This book of patterns is full of swears and humor. I’ve personally made the “Do Not Fuck With Me” sampler complete with bunnies and duckies.
- A Folklore pencil bag by Now Designs. This would be great for storing needles, scissors, and your other notions.
- An Italia Shopper bag. This bag is so cool because it measures 18″ wide by 19″ long when open but folds down to 4.5″ by 6.5″. This bag would be great for carrying your cross stitch project or for taking to the farmer’s market or local craft fair.
- A needlework blank pendant by Red Gate Stitchery. This 1.75″ by 1.25″ pendant has holes in it that allow you to stitch your own design to wear. The chain is 29.”
- A 25g tube of Crabtree and Evelyn’s Gardeners Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Therapy cream. Crafters need to keep their hands in good condition, and I keep a tube of this in my purse and my nightstand. It has a subtle herbal smell to it–not too flowery or overpowering.
- 1 oz of Fava Tea Company’s Pure Ice Tea. This black tea can be used to make iced or hot tea, but it’s less cloudy when steeping than most loose leaf black teas, making it ideal for icing.
- 1 oz of Fava Tea Company’s Decaf Peach Berry Green tea. I drink iced tea all summer and hot tea all winter. This fruity blend contains sweet peach and pineapple pieces, red Rooibos and hibiscus. It’s decaf so perfect for evening sipping.
- The entire Wicked Quills series by Eva Leigh. Woo-boy did we love this Regency series! The books are Forever Your Earl, Scandal Takes the Stage and Temptations of a Wallflower.

Standard disclaimers apply: we are not being compensated for this giveaway except that Elyse got to go shopping which is very fun. Void where prohibited. Open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. Must be over 18 and ready to stitch all the things, including potentially bunnies, duckies, and cuss words. Cross stitch can be addictive, almost as addictive as knitting, and those considering trying this at home should be cautious. Purchasing embroidery floss is also addictive. You’ve been warned. Comments will close around noon EDT Friday 1 July and winner announced later that same day.
To enter leave a comment below and tell us what you watch or listen to while you stitch. I’m a big fan of knitting while catching up on podcasts or listening to audio books. Do you jam out to death metal? Binge watch Netflix? Let us know!
UPDATE: The winner is Tonya K! Thanks to all who commented!

I am such an introvert that I really prefer the sounds of silence (and, no, I don’t mean the old Simon & Garfunkel album, though that is a good one). I don’t turn on the TV or the radio or the CD player, or anything. Of course, if my partner is home, then one or all of those are on and I end up listening to whatever he’s watching. But left to my own devices, I don’t turn on any devices.
Sports mostly, because I can fade in and out depending on how much attention I need to pay to my stitching. Baseball and auto racing only, please!
My cousin and best friend loves to cross stitch and is really good at it. I would love to win this for her. She listens to audiobooks while cross stitching.
Squeal!!! I binge the Netflix!
I like to “watch” documentaries while I stitch. Preferably something where the audio is really interesting, but the photography isn’t. I used to take videos out from my library, but now it’s all Netflix baby! I don’t get to the library as much these days.
I like to watch/listen to sports games while I work.
Saturday night classics on the local country radio station!
I’m usually a documentary-while-stitching kind of gal, but cheesy Lifetime movies are always good for a stitchfest as well!
I watch TV while I stich. I love needlepoint or cross-stitch. I cross-stitched an entire tablecloth during the Blizzard of ’78 (yes, I’m that old) but we were stuck inside for over a week so what else was there to do?
I normally listen to podcasts from NPR (Pop Culture Happy Hour, Fresh Air, NPR Politics Podcast, How to Do Everything, etc.) but recently, I’ve been listening to the cast album of Hamilton the Musical. It is awesome!
I love to listen to NPR podcasts for Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and Fresh Air.
The Subversive Crosstitch patterns RULE! I made the Fuck Cancer one for my daddy back in the day. He took it to his chemo appointments and gave everyone a laugh.
I like to stitch (Crosstitch or crochet) while I watch movies I’ve seen a million times before! Comfort times two!
When I’m stitching, I’ll listen to webinars, audiobooks, my pastor or other presenters.
I’m all about Netflix and stitch–currently re-watching Miss Fisher (swoon!)
Mostly binge watching, but I have also recently discovered welcome to nightvale!
Department meetings, continuing education, those are the sounds of my crafting. I think Subversive Cross-stitch would be ideal there.
I knit while listening to the SBTB podcast, of course! I also figured out I can knit – if it’s a reasonably simple pattern – and read at the same time on my e-reader, since I don’t have to worry about the pages flopping over. This is seriously the best thing ever. Most of my nieces’ holiday sweaters got done that way last winter while I read through a bunch of Tessa Dare’s books.
I love listening to stories on audible, or podcasts like radiolab or freakinomics. Thanks for offering such a great giveaway!
I pop in a Jane Austen movie. Love them all.
Game of Throne – death and stitching!
My top podcasts: longest shortest time, Denzel Washington is the greatest actor of all time period, and lately the Nerdette recaps of GOT
Cliche alert! I like to watch the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice Series while I needlework.
I like books on tape for stitching/being crafty. Podcasts are better for the car & walks. I really like to get into a project, nothing like a book to keep you going.
I need new glasses before I can go back to watching TV and stitching. At the moment, I have to take my glasses off to stitch and put them back on to watch TV, which is not practical.
So for now it’s podcasts and Big Finish Doctor Who audio books. I do have to pick and choose depending on whether my son is in the room or not. 🙂
Audiobooks are perfect for this sort of thing. I recently took advantage of Audible’s deal on Great Courses lectures so now I am learning shit while stitching! Bonus!
I listen to podcasts – Stuff you missed in history class, or audiobooks of my favorite novels that I’ve already read.
I like to listen to books on tape while knitting, I haven’t cross stiched in years, but I should!
Anything BBC, West Wing, or similarly dialogue-heavy! And lately I’ve been loving the podcast You Must Remember This: the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century. The 12-part series on Charles Manson is some of the best/creepiest/terrifying reporting I’ve ever heard–highly recommend!
I prefer to watch (listen) to series on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon while I stitch, like Catastrophe and Lost in Austen!
I am definitely a Netflix (or similar website) binge watcher when I do anything crafty. Love this giveaway!
I loooove to cross-stitch! Got hooked back in junior high and I just can’t stop. I find it so relaxing and love listening to boy-bands from back in the day like N*Sync, NKOTB, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys while cross-stitching, I find I get too distracted if I try to watch TV and end up making too many mistakes. LOL! Thanks so much for this fun giveaway, I’m keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for this one!!!
I binge watch netflix while I knit, lately Gilmore Girls, Friends and West Wing.
I like to watch things I don’t have to concentrate on like Grimm or Gotham.
I like to watch movies I’ve seen before. Then I can concentrate on my work, but still enjoy a movie I like and don’t mind if I miss something. Sick, I know.
I usually binge watch orange is the new black!
Cross Stitch time is for quiet reflection inside my head, or not so quiet depending on what’s going on up there. I rant, rave, reminisce, pontificate, control the world, whatever. But no outside words or music. Stitchin’ is my favorite quiet time of the day!
Oh, and I go from sweet, old timey samplers to very subversive pieces…
I’ve cross-stitched most of my life, but after my LASIK last year, I’ve had trouble with fine work. I went from being severely near-sighted to far-sighted and had some trouble with learning my new focus point! But I’ve got some reading glasses that should help with this one minor annoyance and I’ve been looking at some patterns to get back into it.
I usually put an audio book on. Or, I stitched while my husband watched sports that didn’t take up too much of my focus.
X-S is my fav! Gotta keep the eyes on the prize, though, so it’s music for me while stitching. Usually Pandora through my Roku box (hooked up to the stereo). “Channel” depending on mood – Basia, smooth jazz, Dire Straits (love the guitar!), 80’s stuff, piano.
I like to watch Orphan Black while I knit. The project gets verrrry interesting when something gory happens on screen. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I always have the tv on, but I never pay attention to what’s on. My hat’s off to all of you who can stitch and follow a story. I don’t watch the screen and block out the audio. So why does the tv have to be on? I have absolutely no idea.
