You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO request is from Maggie, who is look for not one, but two romances:
I’ve been trying to remember these two books for ages – mostly just to assure myself that I did read them and I didn’t just imagine them in a crazy trippy dream.
The first might have been a Harlequin Presents and it was part of a series about these triplet sisters, who each fall in love with these European guys. The guys might also be cousins and might also be royal. One of the guys might have been an inventor. I remember a reference to a robot.
The second book was, I think, from the 70’s or 80’s. There is a rich English girl, whose father is kind of a stick in the mud, and she wants to get a job but he will only let her work in a charity shop. He also insists on her going to get her portrait painted in Hungary by this Hungarian painter who is, like, super famous or something. So she goes and the painter is super mean to her and takes forever with the painting and thinks she is a spoiled rich girl. Then it turns out that he fell in love with her at first sight and has been delaying the portrait because he didn’t want her to go back to England, which is good because she also loves him even though he is a jerk. She also almost drowns when she stupidly takes a boat out on the lake in a crazy storm.
If you have any idea about these, let me know!
I need to know about this second book!
I’m pretty sure I read the second book about the Hungarian painter and the Englishwoman! But I can’t remember the title, dammit!
I think her name is Lady Victoria, though, and I remember thinking that there was a large age gap. Also, at some point he takes off her top and feels her up? If it’s the same book, then I also remember that it’s a Harlequin from the 80s.
Or maybe I’m wrong on many counts. Is this it? http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1918457.Hungarian_Rhapsody
Hungarian Rhapsody by Jessica Steele for the second book?
I’d bet that the first one is Tangled Destinies, Unchained Destinies, and Threads of Destiny by Sara Wood. My favorite was Tangled Destinies, the first one.
I’m confident that the previous posters have already answered the second and that it’s Hungarian Rhapsody.
Christine Rimmer had a Viking Series that was about triplets can’t remember much about the heroes in them though
Invented a robot? Someone please identify this book.
About the second book, this sounds like TSTL heroine what with taking a boat out on the lake despite the crazy storm. I just can’t stand the TSTL heroine.
You ladies are great! I’ve been looking for these for so long! I wonder if they are as crazy as I remember them. Will have to check them out again. Thanks!
@Gloriamarie,
If I remember correctly, the lake weather is rather treacherous. The storm wasn’t there when she took the boat. It whipped up out of nowhere while she was out.
