  • Take a Chance on Me

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a runaway bride and a bartender. It’s also the first book in the Something New series. Readers thought this was a great first book in a new series, though some found the story to be a little too cute. Anyone taking a chance on this book? (Harhar, see what I did there?)

    Gorgeous runaway brides. . .

When Maddie Donovan runs out on her high school sweetheart moments before walking down the aisle, she ends up at a bar in the small town of Revival, Illinois, with only the wedding dress on her back, fifty dollars to her name, and her “good girl” reputation in tatters. Not ready to return to Chicago and face the music, she accepts hot bartender Mitch Riley’s offer to stay at his place. But sharing such close quarters is driving Maddie insane with desire.

Always drink for free. . .

Mitch thinks he’s seen it all–until Maddie strides into his bar in full wedding attire and downs three shots of whiskey. Though the gorgeous knockout seems tough as nails, he also senses her vulnerability. With a troubled past of his own, Mitch has no interest in ties of any kind–yet he can’t help falling for Maddie. Now he’s got to find a way to convince her to give love a second chance.

  • Give It Up

Give It Up by Lori Foster

Give It Up by Lori Foster is $1.99! This is an anthology with three short stories by Foster, two of which seem to feature doctor heroes. Readers say that between the three romances, you get a little bit of everything in terms of tropes. However, some said the stories had a little too much insta-love for their liking. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

    Some Like It Hot

He Sees You When You’re Sleeping
What Booker Dean wants for Christmas isn’t under the tree, it’s right next door. Frances Kennedy is everything Booker desires…and the gift he has planned for her involves a lot of delicious unwrapping…

  • Turn Up the Heat

Turn Up the Heat by Kimberly Kincaid

Turn up the Heat by Kimberly Kincaid is $1.99! This is a debut contemporary romance and the first in the Pine Mountain series. This is contemporary comedy romance, with a heroine whose car breaks down on the way to a girl’s weekend, and a hot mechanic hero.

The book has a 3.7+ star average on Goodreads. Many readers on GR say the heroine is very funny, and packs plenty of sarcasm, while others weren’t fans of the main characters at all.

    “It’s not you.”

There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge.

But Bellamy’s escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who’s ever checked under her hood.

Yet this small-town man isn’t all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

  • Men Like This

Men Like This by Roxanne Smith

Men Like This by Roxanne Smith is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a horror author heroine and an actor hero. Plus, there’s a fake relationship! Though the book is a romance, readers mention that there’s no sex. But many were so captured by the story that the lack of bedroom activities didn’t seem to matter. Anyone interested?

Can she trust a man who pretends for a living?

Horror author Quinn Buzzly knows all about the dark side, but when she meets actor Jack Decker, she’s moved to explore something completely different—at least on paper. With his sexy good looks, intriguing manner, and charming Irish-tinged English accent, Jack is the perfect model for her next hero. Quinn decides to spend one year in London writing a historical romance inspired by him. Until real life butts in…

Jack’s jealous ex-fiancée sparks a media storm when she accuses him and Quinn of having an affair. But Jack knows how to play this game. At his insistence, Quinn agrees to go along with the faux romance until the chatter subsides. Then they’ll stage a quiet breakup and go their separate ways. Yet Jack is a shameless—and irresistibly convincing—flirt, and Quinn has to remind herself it’s an act. Or is it? If Jack means business, he’ll have to find the words to convince a wordsmith that their love is the real thing…

For m/m fans, Ripetide Publishing is having daily flash sales for the month of June – to celebrate Pride Month and to get you to follow them on Twitter or FB.

https://twitter.com/RiptideBooks lists the book of the day – .99 at Azm and Kobo

Today’s book is Lessons for Sleeping by Charlie Cochrane – a 1920s set mystery.

  2. I had to open this one up in the browser to confirm that the first two entries feature covers with the top of the cover model’s head cut off.

Now I’m thinking either (1) they are zombies animated by a set of electrodes on the top of the skull that cannot be displayed or the potential reader will flee in fright/fear/disdain or (2) that would be a nice subject for the next Cover Snark postings.
