SQUEE ALERT! Lisa Kleypas Announces Next Book: Devil in Spring!

So after book blogging for 11+ years, “HEY NEW BOOK” usually brings on raised eyebrows or very quick reading of a synopsis. It’s not that I’m jaded or unimpressed, but with SO MANY BOOKS published EVERY FREAKING DAY it’s a never-ending ball pit of joy, if the balls were books, which would hurt, now that I think about it, except they’re mostly ebooks in my world, so the pit is really really metaphorical at this point. Anyway.

Then Lisa Kleypas dropped this news:

And if you can’t watch the video, no worries – you can see the sample pages and the book announcement on her website.

Key points here? The hero is Evie and Sebastian’s son.

Kristen Wiig in a block sweater and turtleneck freaking out with the caption I'm so freakin excited

As in Evie and Sebastian from Devil in Winter ( A | BN | K | G | AB ), which is probably my all time favorite of the Wallflowers books.

Aziz Ansari saying FUCK with a caption of nothing but exclamation points

To say my eyebrows nearly flew off my head is an understatement.

OMG SO MUCH SQUEE.

the mom from Archer waving her arms up and down in total squee

And it’s not just me – I mean, I’ve got no problem dorking out in private and in public, but I think there’s a lot of OMG SQUEEEEE happening among romance readers right now.

So you can pre-order the book, which currently has the completely awesome title of UNTI KLEYPAS NOVEL #22, at Amazon and iTunes

dancing carseat baby raising her hands and and dancing

If, you know, your hands are done flying around with your squee dance. Mine aren’t. I’m working on it.

I’m guessing I’m not alone in my OMGSQUEE reaction to this news.

How about you? Excited? Got a gif? Still dancing? (Isn’t it great that the news of a book can make so many people so happy and excited? Gosh, I love being a romance reader.)

THERE WAS ACTUAL REAL LIFE SQUEALING AND FLAILING AND PLANNING OF REREADS

  2. Jamaila says:

Alas! The HTML tags won’t let me insert my most appropriate GIF directly. But yeah. I’m feeling it.

Squee, flail, joy, happiness – ALL OF THE ABOVE!!

  4. Sarah Y. says:

Yassssss! Devil in Winter is my ultimate favorite! I can’t wait to read this!

  5. bnbsrose says:

I would never have read Devil in Winter if it weren’t for all the recs on this sight. Y’all never steer a girl wrong. While there’s no actual squeeing going on, this is a place of employment after all, I have had to backspace and retype a lot because I can’t quite control my hands.

  6. CelineB says:

Devil in Winter is possibly my favorite romance of all time. Definitely in the top five. I cannot wait for this!

  7. Angie says:

I really can’t quite handle the awesome.

  8. Eli says:

Chuckling with tears in my eyes. I cannot wait.

  9. mel burns says:

    Very exciting…..what a clever author!

  10. Michelle says:

Glad to know I wasn’t the only one. I saw the announcement and had a fangirlsqueeing freak-out moment here at work. This made my whole year!!!! I then commented on the thread (twice) and she responded to me (twice). LK is the gold standard with regard to HR, and I am quite frankly super-duper excited for Evie’s son!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t you think she would be the best mother-in-law???

  11. Kim says:

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!! I’m soooooo excited!!! I cannot wait! Devil In Winter is in my top fave romances…. Yay!!

  12. Cerian Halford says:

Aaaaaaargh!! Hells yes. I’m so excited!

  13. carolinareader says:

    So much squee!!!

Days like this one I am so glad for the internet. I have no romance readers in my regular life and I am not sure I can adequately articulate the hugeness of this news to a none reader.

  14. Jordan says:

When I got my arc of Marrying Winterbourne and saw that preview chapter in the back I was sooooo excited.

  15. I screamed and jumped up and down. Clearly, you are my people.

  16. Kmblue says:

    OMG OMG OMG OMG

I HAD TO STOP LURKING FOR THIS

    OMG

  17. Pamala says:

The flailing and squeeing was interrupted for the fastest one click in the history of clicks. YAY!!! One of my FAVORITE books (and book boyfriends) gets to be a sexy grandpa. WOOT!!!

  18. Liz says:

Omg … this has totally saved a really tough day.

If the director of my department weren’t next door, I’d completely be physically clapping my hands instead of just mentally.

  19. Arethusa says:

You know, I wish I were excited about it, but I didn’t finish her latest contemporary or historical. From the Friday Harbour series I only enjoyed the Christmas novella — although that’s amazing for me because I usually avoid the seasonal stuff like the plague.

I think I’ll try maybe try her last two again because I felt a real sense of loss about not enjoying them. Until the Friday Harbouur series I loved everything from the time travelling historical and even Sugar Daddy (which a lot of folks were lukewarm about).

And I’ll definitely be up for trying with this one if I enjoy the excerpt :).

  20. Rachel says:

Amazing!!!! Just thinking about Devil in Winter reduces me to a full-on, fainting-couch, head-against-forehead swoon. I’m so psyched for a new installment!

  21. SandyCo says:

This is wonderful news!!! I loved “Devil in Winter” and I’m sure I’ll love “Devil in Spring” just as much. 🙂 Yaaaaaaay!!!

  22. Madge says:

As if Marrying Winterborne doesn’t have me in full-on SQUIRM MODE…

…SNOOPY HAPPY DANCING over this news of a Wallflowers continuation!!!

  23. Hopefulpuffin says:

I’m supposed to be getting my dog ready to go to the vet – stool sample, anyone? – and instead I’ve just read the prologue.

I loved Devil in Winter and I’m loving the idea of this one too.

    Roll on Spring 2017!

  24. Miss Louisa says:

    Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!

Wait… So at the end of the Wallflower Christmas books where we caught up with all of them, it said Evie and Sebastian had lots of red-headed daughters. Does this mean we get to meet them too?

  25. oceanjasper says:

I’m happy you’re all so excited, but just to add an alternate point of view, I remember being a bit disappointed by Devil in Winter when I read it with such anticipation after the previous book in the series. I liked it, but would have liked it much more if Sebastian had taken some time to change from a villain to a saint. Instead it was like a different character altogether turned up when it was time for him to star in his own book. I wanted more nuance and uncertainty in their relationship. Maybe Kleypas can make the son an utter bastard and then do a proper job of redeeming him?

  26. Raonaid says:

I am so stoked! Evie and Sebastian’s book was my all time favorite out of that series. The last Wallflower was a disappointment since I wanted the girl with the gypsy..

It will be so nice to return to Evie and Sebastian, see how their lives progressed! Like returning back to old friends.

  27. Kelly S says:

Never read any of the wallflower series. I’m happy for the rest of you.

  28. Sharon says:

While I am happy about this news, I know I am in a minority when I admit that I adored the other Wallflower books more than DiW. I know a lot of women love Sebastian, but Simon Hunt and Matthew Swift are my fav Wallflower heroes, and I can only hope that perhaps she’ll write about the other couples children as well, if she’s going to write about Evie and Sebastian’s son

Am I completely alone out there with these feelings? *crickets chirp*

  29. Arethusa says:

Sharon, you’re not lol. I actually never understood the devotion to DiW at all. There’s not a bad book in that series for sure, but my favourites were the first two: Summer and Autumn.

  30. JTReader says:

Sharon, count me in as another one whose favorite Wallflower book was not DiW. Simon and Annabelle were my favorite couple.

  31. kkw says:

I love the wallflowers as a series, I’m not sure I could pick a favorite, but now there’s more to choose from! That is such good news! With a different author I might be worried that a perfect thing was being adulterated, but Kleypas can do anything.

  32. denise says:

    woohoo!

  33. Lynnd says:

All I can say is, WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Karin says:

On the one hand, I’m really excited to see Sebastian & Evie’s son; on the other hand, several decades will have passed and Sebastian & Evie will be older. *sigh*

  35. kerry says:

I hope their son has Evie’s red hair. There aren’t enough ginger heroes written!

  36. Cate says:

Seriously, HOW DID I MISS THIS NEWS?!?!!? SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!

Ok, now off to reread the Devil in Winter for the 800th time.

  37. Kim says:

It Happened One Autmun was my favorite. I enjoyed Devil in Winter but couldn’t get over the “oh well it was never really that bad” denial of St. Vincent’s gross gross actions at the end of the previous book.

  38. bookworm1990 says:

WHAT! I already was excited for Pandora’s story! This is even better! I second wanting the hero to be a ginger.

Sharon, Simon Hunt was my favorite too. As much as I love Devil in Winter, Secrets of a Summer Night is my favorite

  39. Karin says:

I think we need a list of books with ginger heroes. Please?
