Readers enjoyed the dialogue, but found the characterization a bit one-dimensional. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

Lessons After Dark by Isabel Cooper is $1.99! If you bought the first book in this series, No Proper Lady, this is the second one. While the first had a Terminator element to the story, this one seems to be influenced by X-Men. The setting and worldbuilding are a high point for some readers, though many wished there was more interaction between the hero and heroine. Have you read this one?

His Flower Queen by Lena Hart is $2.99! I was able to catch the author on a panel at RT this year and her books sound right up my alley. This is a more novella-length romance with a heroine who is hired to do PR for the hero’s casino. Some readers disliked the fact that the hero kept his pending divorce (meaning he’s still technically married) a secret, while others said they read the entire thing in one sitting.

I really enjoyed No Proper Lady, and insta-bought Lessons After Dark. And didn’t enjoy it all that much – protagonists and their interactions didn’t do much for me. I’d still recommend No Proper Lady, though.
