Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Maid Keeps Journal of Steamy Fantasies

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO comes from Mary Ryan, who is searching for an anthology of sorts:

I read a book of three short stories set in the 1920s. They were romance, leaning toward erotica. Some of the characters crossed over from story to story. One of the settings was a fancy hotel, owned by the father of the hero in one of the stories.

I remember one story, the hero whose father owns the hotel finds out that one of the maids has been keeping a journal of steamy fantasies. He decides to help her make them come true. He sets up a series of envelopes with a fantasy in each one, and the game stops when she says no. I know at some point they fight over hotel workers wanting to unionize.

Another of the stories features either an actress or heiress bored out of her mind, and a flying ace who decides to spice up her life.

I think the cover had a flapper with pearls, but now I’m not positive.

Any help would be appreciated!

I am very interested in this! Can we help Mary Ryan?

That’s my friend Steph’s book! 😀 Not too many erotica shorts in the 1920s, I don’t think. Nice find!

  6. Gloriamarie Amalfitano says:

1920’s erotica might try reading Jean Rhys.

Theresa, I think I just ordered your copy 🙂 Sounds good!

  8. Mary Ryan says:

You are all amazing! That is the book. I was going nuts trying to find it. It stuck with me because of the way the Sophie character reacts with a Jane Eyre level of dignity when she tells her guy that what they do together in the bedroom is not a blueprint for their entire relationship. It was excellent.

    Thank you so much!
