The SBTB crew is headed to RT tomorrow (come say hi if you’ll be there!), so sales will be sporadic this week. If you see any good sales while we’re away, definitely drop a comment below. We’ve also listed our affiliate links if you’d like to purchase books through them, but please do not feel obligated to use them!
Slow Surrender

Slow Surrender by Cecilia Tan is 99c! This is book one in the Struck by Lightning series. Tan also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at RT last year. This book has a 3.9-star average, and some reviewers said they found it incredibly hot and thought it had some psychological thriller aspects, too. On Twitter, Corey Alexander said, “If you are a fan of Cinderella romances, orgasm control, semi-public play, or slow burn D/s, this book is for you.”
He pushes her sexual boundaries . . .
From the moment waitress Karina meets him in a New York bar, she knows James is different. Daring. Dominating. Though he hides his true identity from her, the mysterious, wealthy businessman anticipates her every desire and fulfills her secret fantasies. Awakened by his touch, Karina discovers a wild side she hadn’t known existed and nothing is off limits.
She aches for more . . .
What begins as an erotic game soon escalates to a power play that blurs the line between pleasure and pain. Even as she capitulates to James’s sensual demands, Karina craves more. She wants his heart, his soul. She wants his love . . . and she’ll break all the rules to get it.

Heart of the Highland Wolf by Terry Spear is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance with a werewolf hero who’s allowing a film crew to use his castle. Naturally. This is the first book in Spear’s Highland Wolf series and the second one is also on sale. Some readers took issue with the heroine’s lack of remorse for her actions, while many loved the hero.
It’s a matter of pride…
Modern day werewolf laird Ian MacNeill reluctantly allows a film production company to use his castle, but he knows his secretive clan has a big problem when a beautiful red werewolf female who insists she’s working on the film keeps showing up in the wrong places… and a matter of pleasure…

Never Tear Us Apart by Monica Murphy is 99c! This book came out in January is a pretty dark romance. The hero is the son of the man who kidnapped the heroine when she was younger. So trigger warning for that. Be warned that there’s also a cliffhanger, so this book may not be for everyone. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again–the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now–beautiful, quiet, composed–and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.
I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she’s safe.
Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.
So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.
My father.

Changeling Moon by Dani Harper is 99c! This is a paranormal romance with werewolves and I’m just going to ignore the purple woman on the cover. Some readers felt that a lot of the plot and characterization details didn’t make sense, while others enjoyed the werewolves vs. changelings in terms of the book’s paranormal creatures. Have you read this one?
He roams the moonlit wilderness, his every sense and instinct on high alert. Changeling wolf Connor Macleod and his Pack have never feared anything — until the night human Zoey Tyler barely escapes a rogue werewolf’s vicious attack.
As the full moon approaches, Zoey has no idea of the changes that are coming, and only Connor can show her what she is, and help her master the wildness inside.
With her initiation into the Pack just days away and a terrifying predator on the loose, the tentative bonds of trust and tenderness are their only weapons against a force red in tooth, claw … and ultimate evil.

THE UNSUNG HERO (Troubleshooters #1) by Suzanne Brockmann is $1.99 today at Amazon.
I read “Slow Surrender” and I can’t say it was for me. It wasn’t awful, I was interested enough to finish it, but I didn’t feel a connection to either character. Plus, the end was kind of a cliffhanger leading into book two, which I didn’t feel intrigued enough to read.
The Curse of Lord Standstead by Mia Marlowe is free on Amazon. I think it was mentioned maybe reviewed here a while back.
Thanks for the heads up on the Marlowe book Gigi! I remember reading that review on SBTB too.
I bought “Slow Surrender” and wish I hadn’t, even at the nearly-free price point. I thought I was getting “a psychologically twisty version of those dull Generic Billionaire/Human Female books” but it’s just a geeky and dull version of same, I don’t feel any interest in the characters or any chemistry between them. In the opening meeting sequence, the hero makes a proposition to the heroine that comes so out of nowhere I found it unintentionally dopey and comedic rather than dangerous and sexy. Plus, in the opening bit I feel like you’re supposed to not realize who the hero is, but it seems blindingly obvious? ALSO the hero is described as having an unusually long… neck? Which is… not really a sexy idea to me?
I feel like I keep trying books like this and finding them unreadable. The characters almost never seem to be interesting/real humans or have any actual chemistry, to me. Can anyone recommend something in the genre that they think might please those of us who (apparently?) need almost literary-type character depth to be able to read on?
(PS, dear Bitches administrators, I’m so looking forward to the recommendation lists you’ve mentioned, where you can find recommendations for various tropes!)
“Say Yes to the Marquess: Castles Ever After” by Tessa Dare is $1.99 on Amazon.
Cordy –
Have you read Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun? Reverse billionaire trope – she’s the rich one, he’s a copy/helps his dad who’s a contractor.
Oops! He’s a cop, not a copy!
Yes! I really liked Liberating Lacey – I often recommend it to people myself. Now if I could just clone it with different characters…!
