A Contemporary Romance and Three Cookbooks!

  • Part Time Cowboy

Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates

Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates is $2.99! This is a small town romance with a trouble making heroine who returns to her hometown. For some readers, parts of the conflict felt unnecessary, but I also know that Yates comes highly recommended if you’re in the mood for fun and steamy romances.

A onetime bad girl comes home to small-town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates

Sadie Miller isn’t expecting any welcome-home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straitlaced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her as if she’s the same teenage hoodlum who fled town ten years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man, but to a bed-and-breakfast. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw…

Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she’s so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?

Vintage Cakes by Julie Richardson is $1.99! And man, is that cover so pretty and delicious. This baking book has over fifty recipes and many readers say it’s one of their favorite baking books they own. However, be warned that the book is light on pictures. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

I hope the colors on the physical book are different than those on my screen because the grey-ish and brown tones on Joy of Kosher’s cover are quite unappetizing (to me) while the soft pastels of the Vintage Cakes cover make me want to taste that cake. Right now.

  2. I was a little hesitant to buy Vintage Cakes despite the beautiful cover, so I read the sample, and immediately clicked Buy Now as soon as it ended so I could keep reading. Richardson’s directions are clear and concise, and her advice is extremely practical. I’m looking forward to testing the recipes (which look delicious). If it the cakes turn out as well as I expect, I might buy the hard copy.

FYI, if you like an idea of what’s actually cooking before you commit to a cookbook, the Look Inside for the paper version of Vintage Cakes gets to the part with recipes, as opposed to the Kindle preview that’s all intro.

I had to buy it for the Rhubarb Pudding Cake. There’s a ton of the stuff in my yard, and I’m tired of the three ways I know how to prepare it.

I’ve always wished there was a law mandating photos in cookbooks, though. “That looks good” is by far the most powerful motivation for trying a new recipe. Lack of pictures means most of the book will never be used, sadly.
