My Kind of Wonderful

My Kind of Wonderful by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! This is the second book in her Cedar Ridge contemporary romance series. Readers loved the chemistry between the hero and heroine, but some mentioned that they both came with a lot more baggage than they were expecting from a Shalvis romance. Have you read this one?
UNEXPECTED AND UNDENIABLE . . .
Bailey Moore has an agenda: skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she’s determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn’t realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn’t want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn’t the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she’s not planning to stick around.
As head of ski patrol at his family’s resort, Hud thinks he’s seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he’s been missing far too long. Now he’ll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.

Crave by Monica Murphy is 99c at most vendors and still on sale for $1.99 elsewhere! This is erotic contemporary romance featuring a trio of billionaires (who are bachelors, obviously) (and part of a club) (like you do), and the first story rests on the bff/sibling/no no conflict, with the added bonus of excellent chemistry and really, really hot sex scenes, according to some reviewers. You can also grab all three current books in the series for less than $6!
New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy launches her sexy Billionaire Bachelors Club series with a lavish bet, a night of carnal desires, and a forever they never thought possible.
Billionaire Archer Bancroft always gets what he wants—and he’s wanted Ivy Emerson, his best friend’s sister, for far too long. Being forbidden and untouchable only makes her more tempting. When a million-dollar bet with his friends throws down a challenge—last bachelor standing takes all—Archer knows he can win. That is, until one enchanted evening with Ivy takes his heart for a ride.
Ivy knows Archer is nothing but bad news: Infuriating, arrogant…and completely intoxicating. But despite her best efforts, she can’t seem to keep away. When a stolen kiss leads to a night of heated passion, Ivy realizes she’s in trouble and in head over heels.
But in the light of day, everything seems clearer and Archer’s not so sure a one-night stand is all he wants. Concocting a plan to keep Ivy by his side, Archer might just be willing to lose this bet…and win the jackpot instead.

Sex, Lies, and Online Dating by Rachel Gibson is $1.99! This is book one in Gibson’s Writer Friends series. If you like contemporary comedy romance, you might really like this. It was also mentioned in a post on which Gibson books you should start with first! However, some found the heroine a little TSTL when it came to the suspense elements. It has a 3.8-star rating on GR and if you like Gibson’s writing, some of her backlist is on sale!
Sex . . .
What is it about men anyway? Bad cars, bad jobs, even bad teeth—nothing convinces them that they can’t snare a Size Two Babe with a D-cup chest. And after way too many internet dates with men named “luvstick” and “bigdaddy182,” Lucy Rothschild should know.
Lies . . .
But sitting across from her now is “hardluvnman,” and he seems different—sensitive, honest, and hot! He says he’s a plumber, while Lucy claims she’s a nurse! She’s really a mystery writer, dating online while researching her next book. Hey, everyone lies a little, don’t they?
And Online Dating . . .
But Quinn’s really an undercover cop hunting down a serial killer, and he sees Lucy as his top suspect. And while he could really go for this smart, sexy woman with the killer bod—if that’s the only thing “killer” about her—he knows he needs to wine and dine her and discover the truth. Hey, he realizes the dating scene can be deadly—but this is ridiculous!

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones is $1.99. This erotica romance, and the series, were recently optioned for a series on Starz, and Jones was interviewed on a previous podcast, so if listening made you curious, that’s a terrific price to satisfy your curiosity! Be warned that this is on the darker side and contains a cliffhanger.
The steamy first installment in the Inside Out erotic romance trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones.
When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.
Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

Bertrice Small’s The Spitfire is 99 cents on Amazon.
I’m generally a fan of shalvis, but my kind of wonderful was a dnf for me.
It was just so much baggage that it made me angry. I have intense anxiety, and normally, I can count on a shalvis to make me laugh and forgot my crippling anxiety for a few hours.
Not with this book.
Spoiler……
….
….
…..
The heroine is three months out from cancer.
That’s just too much to deal with in when I expect to be a fluffy fun romance.
I actually liked <bLMy Kind of Wonderful, so much more than the first book. But the, I didn’t think her Lucky Harbor series was light romance. Her characters deal with some tough issues.
I was waiting on my kind of wonderful to go on sale! Woo – weekend barfly reading.
@ Katie – I also DNF’d My Kind of Wonderful. I could not suspend my disbelief on that three months piece. The hero grated on me, so I was done and am done with the series after disliking the first book.
I liked My Kind of Wonderful better than the first one in this series, too.
“Sunshine” by Robin McKinley is $1.99 on Amazon. 🙂
@laural I actually pre ordered the next book in the series a while ago, and I’m going to cancel it, along with several other shalvis books.
This book just grated on me so much, that I need to take a long break from her.
And I loved the lucky harbor books! And many of the animal series too.
