Not Always a Saint

Not Always a Saint by Mary Jo Putney is $1.99 at Amazon and Kobo! Hopefully, it’ll be price matched elsewhere. This is also the most recent release in the Lost Lords series and was mentioned on a previous podcast. Many readers loved the hero and heroine separately, but found things lacking in their romance. Several of the other Lost Lords books are also on sale!
After the death of his sweetheart when he was at university, Daniel Herbert buried his grief in medical studies and his passion for healing. Viewed as a saint by those who know him, in his own mind, he never quite manages to live up to his own high standards.
Most men would be thrilled to learn they’ve inherited a title and estate from a distant relative, but Daniel is appalled because the burden of wealth will interfere with his medical calling. Warily he accepts that he must enter society and seek a wife—a sensible woman who can oversee his properties, leaving him free to continue his work. He does not expect to become intoxicated by a woman called the Black Widow, who is as mysterious as she is shockingly beautiful…
Jessie Kelham’s looks have always been a curse. Now alone with a young daughter and a perilous secret, she is in need of protection. But dangerously attractive Daniel Herbert is not the kind of husband she has in mind. If he recognizes her, the demons of her past will surely erupt. Yet they cannot keep apart—and soon they are drawn into a union that may bring joy—or shattering danger…

If He’s Noble by Hannah Howell is $1.99! This is a historical romance with a dash of paranormal elements. This is also the seventh book in the Wherlocke series, which also has other books on sale! Readers loved the “fairy tale” qualities in the romance, as the heroine is trying to escape a villainess aunt and an awful arranged marriage. However, some readers mentioned that the writing felt stilted and disjointed at times. Have you read this one?
New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell delivers adventure and instant attraction in this all-new Wherlocke Family novel…
For Lady Primrose Wootten nothing has been ordinary since her father the Baron died and his wayward family filled the estate with greed and treachery. Primrose knows if she can just track down her brother, he can send the odious relations on their way. But instead she finds this enormous, powerful stranger, and forgets entirely what she was doing in the first place…
Sir Bened Vaughn isn’t much afraid of a pistol. But he is a bit afraid of the woman holding it, who stirs up something so primal he’s not sure he can shake it off. Vaughn is an honorable man, and he knows he has no right to desire Primrose. Yet he does have an obligation to help her, and as they learn more about her brother’s disappearance, he realizes that means staying by her side…wanting her all the while… and wondering how much longer they can resist temptation…

Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day is $2.99! This is another erotic historical romance and the book actually inspired Day’s other romance Bared to You ( A | BN | K | G | AB ). Though readers mention the first half is a little slow, they enjoyed the chemistry between the hero and heroine. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.
Seven years ago, on the eve of her wedding, Lady Jessica Sheffield witnessed a scene so scandalous she could not erase it from her memory. Shocked, yet strangely titillated, she nevertheless walked down the aisle into a life serene yet unremarkable. But what she kept hidden fueled wildly imaginative and very illicit dreams. . .
Alistair Caulfield ran far from the temptation of the prim debutante–all the way to the West Indies. As a successful merchant, he has little in common with the rakehell youth Jessica once knew. But when newly widowed Jessica steps aboard his ship for a transatlantic passage, seven years’ worth of denied pleasures are held in check by nothing more than a few layers of silk–and the certainty that surrender will consume them both. . .

Wedding Matilda by Heather Hiestand is 99c! This is book six in The Redcakes series, which focuses on a family who runs a tea shop and bakery. So if you like foodie characters, especially in a historical setting, you’re in luck! A bulk of the series is on sale! Some readers found the book ran a little long, but many say this can be read as a standalone. Plus, it has a great mystery at the center of the plot. Be forewarned that the plot has elements of a child in peril, as Matilda’s son has been kidnapped.
Sugared violets, buttercream… but he craves her kiss most of all…
Orphaned as a boy, Ewan Hales is proud to make his living as secretary to the manager at Redcake’s Tea Shop. But the startling news that he’s heir to the Earl of Fitzwalter changes everything. While tendering his resignation to lovely Matilda Redcake, however, Ewan is struck by her spirit, the luscious bow of her lips—and a realization. Matilda might not marry a working man—but will she wed a future nobleman?
Ewan’s unruly hair and roguish kisses are tempting, but Matilda has far too many problems to consider romance. With sabotage at a cake factory threatening the family empire, she must focus her considerable willpower on keeping Redcake’s from ruin—until she learns that her young son has been kidnapped. Together, she and Ewan must uncover the truth before they can savor the sweet freedom of love…

I haven’t read Seven Years to Sin, but I enjoy Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series, as far as I’ve read anyway. It’s a good example of a very flawed alpha hero recognizing those flaws and trying hard to fight and work against them. The sex gets a little tiresome (gasp!), but I respected the hell out of the hero for confronting his demons (trigger warning: dude has a messed up past, so does the heroine) and really buckling down to become a better, healthier person, not just for the heroine, but for himself. Very high on the drama, though, to the point where it gets frustrating. Still worth checking out Bared to You if you’re looking for a book where the leads go, “Man we’re both so messed up. Now how can we work with one another to be happier?” Fair warning: I haven’t read the whole series, and some complaints about Day dragging them out abound, especially since it was originally supposed to be a trilogy.
Finding Master Right by LA Witt is $2.49 (half off) at ARe. I love this story, although it’s not for everyone. It’s a m/m BDSM friends to lovers romance about two kinky friends who go to a leather conference together, do scenes with other people and slowly realize they’re in love with each other. It’s one of my favorite L A Witt’s – great banter, smoking hot sex, no mind reading doms, just normal people who also like kink.
Seven Years to Sin is my favorite Sylvia Day book. Whole heartedly recommend – especially for the babies do not make a HEA crowd.
I just bought the whole Lost Lords series. I know Mary Jo Putney writes well and at $1.99 each, why not? I love these sale posts!
The Lost Lords are also on sale in the UK. Thanks for the heads up – I’ve filled in some gaps.
