Susie Felber, who is also known in the Romance universe as “Edith Layton’s daughter,” has a cool new job with a French company, Withings, which makes connected health and fitness devices. She reached out to me to see if I’d be willing to host a giveaway of two of their Activité fitness trackers – a gift for Valentine’s Day that’s the opposite of chocolate, as she put it.
Mais oui, s’il vous plait!
I know that many of you probably set up some personal fitness resolutions for this year. Since taking care of yourself and making sure you feel healthy and happy is very important, I think this would be a great boost to any of your fitness goals. I rarely talk about fitness because, well, I have been on the receiving end of long monologues about workout routines and I don’t want to inflict that on anyone! But I got serious about my health a few years ago, hired a personal trainer (whom I miss a LOT now that I’ve moved), and started working out almost daily. Since then, I have learned that, to quote Peter Drucker, “What gets measured gets managed.” In other words, if I’m paying attention to what I do, what I eat, what I lift, and when I do all of the above, I see the progress I want. Trackers like these can help a lot with all that measurement and monitoring.
Thanks to Susie, we have two to give away! AND a coupon. Thanks, ma’am!
There’s the Activité Steel, which will come with two bands in raspberry and white:
And the Activité Pop, in limited edition Coral Pink:
What’s it do? It tracks steps, swimming, running and sleep, and syncs to their Health Mate app, available for iOS or Android. In the app, thanks to the tracker, you’ll see distance traveled, calories burned, activity, sleep data, and all that fun stuff. Health Mate also syncs to other apps you might already use, like My Fitness Pal.
On the device itself, you’ll see the time, because it’s a watch. Plus there is a small dial that tells you how much of your daily activity goal you’ve achieved.
The Activité does not need charging, either. It runs on a standard watch battery (aka one of those little silver button cell batteries) and one battery should last up to 8 months.
The Activité Steel retails for $199, and the Pop in coral retails for $149.
Plus, we have a coupon should you wish to check out the other products at Withings.com! With coupon code WITHSBTB you’ll get 20% off your purchase. They make Wi-Fi scales, a home camera, and other health tracking devices as well.
Susie also sent me an Activité Steel to try out, which I’m terribly excited about. I’d been trying to decide which fitness tracker to buy, and having one that is a watch and a monitor is very cool. If anyone would like a review, I’m happy to write one up after I’ve used it for awhile.
Standard disclaimers apply. Void where prohibited. Open to US residents only (sorry sorry!). Must be over 18 and prepared to work it out in order to win. There is a correct way to tie your shoes, but really, whichever way you do it so you don’t trip is good. Measure twice, cut once. If you drop the beat, please clean up after yourself. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Anyone who allows party rock to enter the house tonight will answer to management. Do not remove internet under penalty of law. Two winners will be selected to each win one of the two watches by random integer from the comments at or close to noon ET on Sunday 14 February 2016. Winners will be announced that day.
Want to enter? Yay! I hope so.
Just leave a comment and tell me what you do – or would like to do – to help keep yourself healthy. Health means different things for different people, and figuring out what helps you personally is, I think, very important.
Good luck!
ETA 12/14/16: Congratulations and hooray, we have winners!
The winner of the Activité Steel is Kristen, and the winner of the Activité Pop is Brandy.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered! I wish you all success on your fitness goals – you can totally do it.

Walk at least 10,000 steps a day!
Just bought an indoor walker exerciser, so I am excited to try combining it with a fitness tracker!
Less sugar and counting calories. Plus biking.
I rarely drink sodas and drink unsweetened iced tea most of the time to cut back on the sugar since the majority of my family members are diabetic. I try to eat other sweets and high fat & calorie foods in moderation – most of the time – rather than totally deny myself. It’s easier to keep the cravings under control that way. Now I’ve gotta get more exercise in. 🙂
I am trying to eat more healthily, and get back into working out this year.
I work out six days a week either on my (recently broken) elliptical or doing videos – I like dance ones the best.
More exercise is in my future.
Drink water, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and watch your portion sizes.
To keep myself healthy, I prep my meals every Sunday night. It is important to me to make sure I am well fed during the day. I always started taking group exercise classes at my gym because it helps me stay focused and motivated!
Ooh, I LOVE these!!!! Especially the Steel with raspberry band! I NEED to do more to get fit, in a serious way, and I’ve bought an elliptical to get started. I think I’m also going to join Weight Watchers! Egads, I really AM turning into my mother…this was her 30 years ago!! Yikes 😉
I do yoga. Otherwise things begin to dislocate. The downsides of being double jointed.
I’ve started walking, doing pilates, swinging a kettle bell and swimming. Not all in one day, mind, but in intervals. After some health concerns and surgery, I’ve had to look for new ways to keep fit. If I had my way, I’d play tennis every day but alas…
Anyway, thanks for offering the chance to win one of the BEAUTIFUL devices. Good luck to us all 🙂
I eat a vegetarian diet which helps keep me healthy (to a certain extent). i’m also a runner but currently struggling with rehabbing a knee injury so i can’t run too much. BUT this past summer, my work moved to a new office with a gym so i’ve been going on my lunch breaks every day to run, lift weights, or do ab workouts depending on the day 🙂
Since working full time in the past year to also being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis my fitness has declined. Add in being hypothyroid. I’m tired of being tired. It’s hard to stick to working out when my schedule is constantly in flux. But, I’ve had enough. I’ve started drinking more water and eating better lunches. I’m hoping to add in more workouts soon.
The watches look really cool. My doctor has been after me to get a fitness tracker because he has done well with one. I do stretches every morning, walk my dogs, and try to eat as healthy as possible. I recently added some arm exercises with weights to help ease the arthritis in my shoulders. Added benefit – I will greet the spring season without my starter bat-wing arms!
I’ve been very bad for the last few months, but I do have a Fitbit, and I was logging food and doing 10K steps every day for about 6 months. I also did some yoga and zumba gold classes.
So pretty! I haven’t been tempted by a Fitbit or fitness watch before, but I’d be willing to try one of these. 🙂
I try to jog 3 times a week, lift weights at least once, and do yoga or walk on the other days. My husband and I are trying to get back into the habit of hiking, and when it warms up a bit more, we’ll start rock climbing again. I’m not sure how a fitness watch would work for these activities, other than the running.
Great giveaway! To keep myself healthy, I go for walks in the mornings after I drop my kids off at school. It’s great for both my body and my mind (physical activity helps me ward off depression).
I’m trying to walk more. I spend far too much time sitting at work.
Hooray for health!
I drink plenty of water and work on portion control! I also limit sleep.
I’ve been going to spin class and making sure I walk more during the day.
Yoga with Adriene videos on YouTube are amazing! Easy to follow and I love that she is a funny, non-snotty yogi.
I’ve been trying to walk more. Podcasts are great for that! And more importantly, trying to keep myself mentally healthy (yay for therapy!). So trying to do more for myself. Gorgeous watches.
I need motivation to get moving more – 3000 steps in a day isn’t good enough!
I love walking the dogs through the park and neighborhood!
What a lovely way to track activity! As for my health efforts, always aiming for more water, more activity (whether that’s walking or actually making it to ballet class), and more fruits and vegetables 😉 Thanks for the chance to win an Activite!
To keep fit I dance. And since I’m now required to increase my fitness due to health issues my solution is to do more dance.
I actually have the fit bit which is not bad but world like one that could do swimming add that is another exercise I do like. Those trackers are much prettier too
I would like to do more to help my beautiful partner Tracy with her resolution to move more, eat less and become healthier.
I don’t do enough, but when I do it’s Jillian MIchaels 30 Day Shred, although I’ve never gotten past the 2nd level.
Walking and hiking with my dog!
I workout with weights a few times a week which helps make me a better indoor rock climber.
I just started doing interval training and really like it!
i love taking ym dogs for hikes, but i only get to do this on weekends, I need more weekday activities!
To stay in shape (and intimidate all the dudes in my gym) I lift heavy weights then read comics and romance novels when I’m resting between sets 🙂
Well. I eat pretty good and try to be active every day but I could use a kick in the pants.
I try to make sure to eat at least fruits/veggies a day — it fills me up enough that there’s not a lot of room for processed junk! I also do yoga 3-4 mornings a week. I’m trying to add more cardio/weights into the rotation, but those aren’t as much fun 😉
Lately I’ve been trying lately to up my fruit and veggie intake-and doing pretty well. Another thing I focus on is getting a minimum 7-8 hrs of sleep-I think it really impacts my mood and energy level, which makes it easier to be healthy in other ways.
I workout every morning from 6-7 before work while listening to podcasts. Then I also am working on doing a running streak year where I run at least 1 mile every day. So far so good, although I did cut it close one hungover day by doing my run on my dreadmill at 1130 at night. I eat the keto diet and am currently at 97.5lbs down. Hoping to hit that 100lbs mark soon.
I watch my sugar and processed food intake, try to get out walking at LEAST 3 days a week (more when the weather is nice), don’t drink alcohol. I TRY to get a good nights sleep, not always successful! I am very mindful about my body being the Temple and try to honour it 🙂
