Susie Felber, who is also known in the Romance universe as “Edith Layton’s daughter,” has a cool new job with a French company, Withings, which makes connected health and fitness devices. She reached out to me to see if I’d be willing to host a giveaway of two of their Activité fitness trackers – a gift for Valentine’s Day that’s the opposite of chocolate, as she put it.
Mais oui, s’il vous plait!
I know that many of you probably set up some personal fitness resolutions for this year. Since taking care of yourself and making sure you feel healthy and happy is very important, I think this would be a great boost to any of your fitness goals. I rarely talk about fitness because, well, I have been on the receiving end of long monologues about workout routines and I don’t want to inflict that on anyone! But I got serious about my health a few years ago, hired a personal trainer (whom I miss a LOT now that I’ve moved), and started working out almost daily. Since then, I have learned that, to quote Peter Drucker, “What gets measured gets managed.” In other words, if I’m paying attention to what I do, what I eat, what I lift, and when I do all of the above, I see the progress I want. Trackers like these can help a lot with all that measurement and monitoring.
Thanks to Susie, we have two to give away! AND a coupon. Thanks, ma’am!
There’s the Activité Steel, which will come with two bands in raspberry and white:
And the Activité Pop, in limited edition Coral Pink:
What’s it do? It tracks steps, swimming, running and sleep, and syncs to their Health Mate app, available for iOS or Android. In the app, thanks to the tracker, you’ll see distance traveled, calories burned, activity, sleep data, and all that fun stuff. Health Mate also syncs to other apps you might already use, like My Fitness Pal.
On the device itself, you’ll see the time, because it’s a watch. Plus there is a small dial that tells you how much of your daily activity goal you’ve achieved.
The Activité does not need charging, either. It runs on a standard watch battery (aka one of those little silver button cell batteries) and one battery should last up to 8 months.
The Activité Steel retails for $199, and the Pop in coral retails for $149.
Plus, we have a coupon should you wish to check out the other products at Withings.com! With coupon code WITHSBTB you’ll get 20% off your purchase. They make Wi-Fi scales, a home camera, and other health tracking devices as well.
Susie also sent me an Activité Steel to try out, which I’m terribly excited about. I’d been trying to decide which fitness tracker to buy, and having one that is a watch and a monitor is very cool. If anyone would like a review, I’m happy to write one up after I’ve used it for awhile.
Standard disclaimers apply. Void where prohibited. Open to US residents only (sorry sorry!). Must be over 18 and prepared to work it out in order to win. There is a correct way to tie your shoes, but really, whichever way you do it so you don’t trip is good. Measure twice, cut once. If you drop the beat, please clean up after yourself. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Anyone who allows party rock to enter the house tonight will answer to management. Do not remove internet under penalty of law. Two winners will be selected to each win one of the two watches by random integer from the comments at or close to noon ET on Sunday 14 February 2016. Winners will be announced that day.
Want to enter? Yay! I hope so.
Just leave a comment and tell me what you do – or would like to do – to help keep yourself healthy. Health means different things for different people, and figuring out what helps you personally is, I think, very important.
Good luck!
ETA 12/14/16: Congratulations and hooray, we have winners!
The winner of the Activité Steel is Kristen, and the winner of the Activité Pop is Brandy.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered! I wish you all success on your fitness goals – you can totally do it.

This is fortuitous because I have had to take control of my health while suffering from LPR (Silent Reflux). Quality of life has been very low and it is has been in turn bringing me low. I have changed my entire way of eating and added exercise to try and beat/control this naturally. Some days are better than others. I was just saying to my husband about getting a Fitbit or the likes. This is awesome looking and would really add that next level in the struggle to recover the new old me.
If only I had a time machine to go back and kick my younger self’s ass. 🙂
Raspberry one only please!
I’d like to join the Y and do water aerobics.
I need to get better about getting in a cardio workout – I walk a lot, but I can feel the lack of cardio in my body. I’d love a fitness tracker like this!
Those watches are gorgeous! My dad uses a Withings tracker and swears by it. If I could get as many steps a day as he does, I’d be doing great. I go to the gym for boot camp and kickboxing, but my forties are showing that I need to cut back on sugar and wine and just plain move more.
I’m trying to walk more and it would be nice to have a device that hopefully tracks my steps correctly since the s health app on my android is a liar.
I spend 9 hours on my feet for work, so I’d love to really track how that translates to my overall fitness; I also try not to drive when I can while running errands. My goal is to build my muscle tone, since I have a physical job, (since I’m overall happy with my level of movement) and drink more water.
I never realized what a toll soda took on my body until I gave it up. I occasionally slip up and indulge but it’s now a 6 oz glass maybe once a month vs. a 44 oz big gulp every week.
I’ve started walking more. I’m much more conscious of how much I walk because I can feel the difference now. My joints and muscles ache if I don’t get atleast a mile in per day.
When it isn’t slick and nasty outside anymore I will be very happy to go on long walks with my dog again. He’s getting up in age and the ice/snow doesn’t agree with him much either.
I eat healthy and I go to physical therapy 3x a week!
Home cooking, daily cardio, and walking. And I quit smoking last year!
I’m starting a Couch to 5k program. It’s going slowly, but I’m getting there!
For my mental and emotional health I’m trying to make my skin thicker in order to stop all these nattering nabobs of negativism from getting on my last nerve.
This is gorgeous.
I joined a gym – a basic no frills store front type – in December and I’ve reached 4 times/week walking 2 miles on the treadmill at a 2.5 or 3.0 incline. I’m feeling more flexible and having less leg pain, but unfortunately weight loss is still elusive. For that I think I have to start measuring my food and changing the protein to carb ratio … but I am happy to be doing totally guilt-free magazine and romance reading four days a week.
I just got a cheap pedometer from a Women’s Health center, and I’m really enjoying how it highlights my utterly sedentary life. Argh! But room to improve. I LOVE this tracker’s looks, finally – something that looks like a WATCH, not a leftover prop from Tron!
What an adorable little device! I go to tai chi class three times a week, and also score 10,000 steps or so each of the four nights I spend each week at work – lifting things and putting things on shelves at Target. The wellness program at work provided me with a Fitbit Zip – that is the only reason I know about the 10,000 steps…
I used to “gym” three times a and I was just getting to my goal size when I a cerebral hemorrhage. I was in coma for six weeks and when I woke I could not walk or talk…there went my gains. Eventually I walked and talked and but still could not run — my brain forgot how! I want use the Activité Steel or Pop to track my pitiful attempt to get my health back. Before my stroke I used to brag I was “the healthiest person I know. Pride goeth before a fall! Help to get my health back. Thank you.
Swimmer here! I have been wanting a watch, but have not been able to decide which one – not a lot take swimming into account :/ Going to have to look into this one!
I am trying to walk my 10,000 steps a day, sleep at least 7 hours each night, and eat less processed food.
I work out every week, but I love hiking as an exercise. Burns calories like woah, and you get to see pretty scenery and mountains at the same time, aka win-win.
I don’t smoke, drink alcohol, or eat meat. I limit sweets, and my beverages are almost exclusively water and tea. That said, I’ve still managed to gain a lot of weight over the past few years because I’m horrible about exercise. I need to do better.
walk more
As the weather gets better, I’d like to walk the 2 miles to/from work more often instead of taking transit. Also, I’ve been trying to drink more water.
I love how they don’t look like an average fitness tracker. love the colors too. 😉
I am currently upping my walking game after coming off of a long season of not being able to breathe due to unending bronchitis and asthma issues. In addition I just bought an Inspiralizer and am eating veggie noodles to replace the pasta in my life 😉 (turnip are my favorite).
I’d like to work on toning up my arms, as I’m not liking the wing effect….
We’ve been making healthier swaps the past year to keep hubby’s diabetes manageable, and it’s working! I’m loving the whole wheat & whole grains additions (like whole wheat flour instead of white) and different ways to fix oatmeal.
I am spending more time with friends.
I do a lot of walking with my dog 🙂 thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I try to eat well and stay active. I now wear an activity tracker and posture monitor.
Take more walks with my dog and drink more water.
I tried the basic FitBit but hated having to recharge it and hated wearing it at the same time as a watch. This looks like a great fashionable and pretty solution. Crossing my fingers and hoping to win!
Find an excercise buddy!
Trying to be active throughout the day and not snack so much.
Drink enough water and maintain a healthy, regular sleep schedule. Small steps but they make a huge difference!
I find that if I stay more aware of how much I just MOVE throughout the day, I stay more active. I try not to sit too much. And sleep, sleep is vital to my well being and I need about 8 hours a night. Eating foods in their natural state is important too, and I try my best to avoid processed foods.
Exercise more consistently. I have a plan but it gets disrupted regularly.
My personal trainer is a huge investment but so worthwhile. I also make sure I drink lots of water, and see my doctor regularly.
I’d love to be more active. I do ok at making sure I move in the summer, but this winter in particular has been so lazy.
I’m walking more and planning to use my elliptical for exercise, instead of as a coat rack!
For me, keeping healthy is eating foods that my body craves (lots of vegetables) and trying to integrate a lot of movement into my daily routine–walking places instead of driving, taking the steps instead of the elevator, etc. Yoga helps to keep my stress levels down.
I WILL start yoga again (soon…) just moved & trying to get back into a routine which is so difficult in new place. This watch is beautiful!
I’m *trying* to make small changes that are easy to keep to like drinking more water, smaller portions, and healthier alternatives to my normal diet.
I keep falling off the “keeping myself healthy” wagon, but I’m trying to pick myself back up. Key for me is: enforcing a strict bedtime, despite the siren song of good books, taking my vitamins and other meds regularly, and meal planning so I don’t just give up and do takeout or fast food.
I’ve been wanting to try out an activity tracker but hadn’t been able to decide which of the many had features I needed versus ones I don’t. I am intrigued by Withings, because I like the idea that it looks like a normal watch.
