Susie Felber, who is also known in the Romance universe as “Edith Layton’s daughter,” has a cool new job with a French company, Withings, which makes connected health and fitness devices. She reached out to me to see if I’d be willing to host a giveaway of two of their Activité fitness trackers – a gift for Valentine’s Day that’s the opposite of chocolate, as she put it.
Mais oui, s’il vous plait!
I know that many of you probably set up some personal fitness resolutions for this year. Since taking care of yourself and making sure you feel healthy and happy is very important, I think this would be a great boost to any of your fitness goals. I rarely talk about fitness because, well, I have been on the receiving end of long monologues about workout routines and I don’t want to inflict that on anyone! But I got serious about my health a few years ago, hired a personal trainer (whom I miss a LOT now that I’ve moved), and started working out almost daily. Since then, I have learned that, to quote Peter Drucker, “What gets measured gets managed.” In other words, if I’m paying attention to what I do, what I eat, what I lift, and when I do all of the above, I see the progress I want. Trackers like these can help a lot with all that measurement and monitoring.
Thanks to Susie, we have two to give away! AND a coupon. Thanks, ma’am!
There’s the Activité Steel, which will come with two bands in raspberry and white:
And the Activité Pop, in limited edition Coral Pink:
What’s it do? It tracks steps, swimming, running and sleep, and syncs to their Health Mate app, available for iOS or Android. In the app, thanks to the tracker, you’ll see distance traveled, calories burned, activity, sleep data, and all that fun stuff. Health Mate also syncs to other apps you might already use, like My Fitness Pal.
On the device itself, you’ll see the time, because it’s a watch. Plus there is a small dial that tells you how much of your daily activity goal you’ve achieved.
The Activité does not need charging, either. It runs on a standard watch battery (aka one of those little silver button cell batteries) and one battery should last up to 8 months.
The Activité Steel retails for $199, and the Pop in coral retails for $149.
Plus, we have a coupon should you wish to check out the other products at Withings.com! With coupon code WITHSBTB you’ll get 20% off your purchase. They make Wi-Fi scales, a home camera, and other health tracking devices as well.
Susie also sent me an Activité Steel to try out, which I’m terribly excited about. I’d been trying to decide which fitness tracker to buy, and having one that is a watch and a monitor is very cool. If anyone would like a review, I’m happy to write one up after I’ve used it for awhile.
Standard disclaimers apply. Void where prohibited. Open to US residents only (sorry sorry!). Must be over 18 and prepared to work it out in order to win. There is a correct way to tie your shoes, but really, whichever way you do it so you don’t trip is good. Measure twice, cut once. If you drop the beat, please clean up after yourself. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Anyone who allows party rock to enter the house tonight will answer to management. Do not remove internet under penalty of law. Two winners will be selected to each win one of the two watches by random integer from the comments at or close to noon ET on Sunday 14 February 2016. Winners will be announced that day.
Want to enter? Yay! I hope so.
Just leave a comment and tell me what you do – or would like to do – to help keep yourself healthy. Health means different things for different people, and figuring out what helps you personally is, I think, very important.
Good luck!
ETA 12/14/16: Congratulations and hooray, we have winners!
The winner of the Activité Steel is Kristen, and the winner of the Activité Pop is Brandy.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who entered! I wish you all success on your fitness goals – you can totally do it.

Running and triathlon! I have a 33k run in Moab, UT in a week. These watches look gorgeous and functional!
I just want to move more! It’s good for my physical and mental health.
I’m trying to be more conscious about what I’m eating and have been doing more healthy meal prepping for the week. I also need to get back to running. Its a love/hate realtionship but I always feel better after I do it for awhile.
More walking, more reading (even while walking!), more water. Less sitting, less sugar. More time with friends.
I’m upping veggies and fruit this year, and eating more nuts & beans and less meat. I tried to reduce dairy, too, but can’t give up real milk lattés. Cannot. I need to walk more, and I’d love one of these watches to track my progress. Fingers crossed.

(Sorry about the duplicate comment. We had an internet glitch, and it looked like it hadn’t posted. Please delete one.)
Hit the big 50 and joined a gym for the first time in my life. Time to get control of it after a half century and this would be lovely to track my progress
I do Pilates three times a week when I can afford it. Otherwise I walk the neighborhood.
I need to get in shape and want to give it the effort it needs to be effective. Unfortunately, I am a born procrastinator. A neat little device like this just might give me the incentive I need to get moving.
Ooh, I’d love this. I’ve stopped wearing my Fitbit because I don’t love how it looks/feels, but i like the look of these!
Elliptical, use it everyday…
I have been keeping a log with everything I eat. And I mean I write down EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. It has really helped me see how much junk I pick up. And I have lost almost 10 lbs. A tracker would help keep track of everything else!!
I’d like to get back to a barre routine or pilates. I used to take ballet classes, and I’m more likely to follow through on exercising if I have a set date and time (and people who will wonder where I am if I don’t show up).
I hate to admit it, but the only real exercise I do is walking. But since I live in NYC, I walk around a lot. I would love to be able to track how many steps I take everyday and this watch looks so great that I wouldn’t mind wearing it everyday.
I have a two month old baby, and I totally used pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted and be lazy. Of course, now I’m paying for it. So I’m cutting back on sugar, eating more vegetables, and doing simple, at-home workouts at least three days a week. Pinterest is a huge help to find fun, easy workouts.
Not sit so much & walk more!
Every winter I turn into a (semi) hibernating bear, so I try to cut back on refined sugars and meat. Going outside in the cold weather to hike also helps keep me healthy and helps with the cabin fever.
To stay healthy, I try to drink plenty of water every day and hike as much as possible. Fresh air and new places to explore help my anxiety so much!
Cooking from scratch (‘real’ food is more dense, so I tend to eat less and still feel full), dropping soda altogether, and miles and miles of walking. There is no ‘easy’ way to take care of yourself 🙂
I try to eat whole foods and do the daily step goal, but this year my real health goal is to get more sleep. My kids are no longer waking in the night so I can’t blame them for my terrible sleep habits anymore. So I’m trying to make myself close the kindle at 10 and get 8 hours a night! I do actually sleep better if I’m exercising regularly and those are beautiful fitness trackers!
Those are beautiful! About a year ago, a physiotherapist gave me a huge boost toward getting my health & fitness back. I now treadmill and do my exercises every morning – and I’m so much happier for it!
Oh my gosh, those are so pretty! I finally got some physical therapy help for a back injury I had as a teenager, so now I do Pilates-type PT exercises everyday. And I walk the dog.
I walk and try to drink lots of water. I’d love to know the number of steps I’m taking per day.
I love this classy giveaway. Most fitness trackers look bad. I do yoga and drink h2o a lot to keep healthy. I have a New Years resolution to do pull ups so, I’m getting some guns now too. I’ve also started drinking Monkey Shoulder more and it has 3% less alcohol than Cutty Sark.
I really need a tracker that works for swimming. Most of the trackers do not work for swimming, but just track dry land exercise. I swim three days a week and jog two. Since I can’t use my current tracker in the water, it looks like I’m not doing anything for three days. I’m 73 years old, so I really need those three days to prove I’m still alive and kicking.
I teach spin classes twice a week and I run 5-6 times weekly! I try to walk as much as I can during the work day and I make sure everything I eat has a purpose!
Currently most of my energy is going into getting my mental health to a stable place but I need to start walking to improve my physical health as well.
I really need to get out and walk more. I’m reminded of this constantly by my therapist and psychiatrist, and I do have good intentions. They just sort of fall by the wayside! It’s really important for mental health to keep active–people talk a lot about the physical aspects of exercise, but don’t always know it’s important for your brain. I’m sort of reclusive, but have been getting better–once I’m actually out of the house it’s okay. I already drink lots of water and try to eat healthy–it’s the walking that trips me up! Pun intended. LOL
I’d love to wear one of the Activité Fitness Tracking Watches while I use my turbo trainer and listen to my ebooks!
Merci for the opportunity!
I love health trackers! Just knowing that I’m wearing the device keeps me aware of my choices throughout the day. Which means if I’m not wearing a tracker or logging info online, I’ll often make the poor choice as though it doesn’t count if it logged.
I am 46 years old and just found out I have High Blood pressure. I am determined to lose 35-40 pounds. I want to be around longer for my kids and to be healthy for myself. Thanks for this great opportunity!
I’m trying to eat more healthily. Not dieting, just making better choices in what I eat.
I try to keep healthy by focusing on moderation. I’m sort of an all or nothing kind of gal, so moderation is really quite difficult, but I think the best way for me to make sense of the world. Can I eat cheeseburgers and fries every day? Why yes I can, but should I? Nope. But trying to eat a cheeseburger and fries just a few times a month? Feels nearly impossible.
Anyway, I hate that my little Fitbit isn’t a watch, but I don’t want to give up my beautiful analog watch for the digital Fitbit watch thing. Loooove this idea.
I love these! Such a classic look.
I am trying just to get moving more. I gave a desk job so I’m trying to remember to at least get up and stretch and move around every hour.
Row, and hang out with the good people of the South End Rowing Club. I am new. I hear there’s Jameson’s in the sauna. Birthday(suit) swims off the end of the pier back to clubhouse. But I prefer the boats.
I daydream about rollerblading too.
I stopped dieting! It’s been the best thing ever.
I had surgery on Tuesday fixing the torn rotator cuff. So the rehab will be fun.
Baby steps to fitness here. My small dog and I do our 7/10 mile each weekday and 9/10 walk on weekends. Although my dog probable walks further since she has to check everything out. I should have the pedometer on her & not me!
Time to bring the blood sugar levels down. Need to exercise and love the saying about measuring and managing.
