Raziel
Raziel by Kristina Douglas is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance with angels and demons and, if I’m not mistaken, Douglas also writes as Anne Stuart. Many readers loved the hero and want to see more angels in paranormal romances. However, some felt they were more interested in the overall plot than the actual characters. Have you read this one?
Kristina Douglas’s sexy new series introduces a realm of fallen angels and ruthless demons, where an eternal rebellion is brewing . . . and one unsuspecting woman can change the fate of the Fallen forever.
She was just an ordinary mortal . . .
“You’re dead” is so not what Allie Watson wants to hear. Unfortunately, it explains a lot. Like the dark, angelically handsome man who ferried her to this strange, hidden land. The last thing she remembers is stepping off a curb in front of a crosstown bus. Now she’s surrounded by gorgeous fallen angels with an unsettling taste for blood—and they really don’t want her around. Not exactly how she pictured heaven.
. . . until death catapulted her into a seductive world she never imagined.
Raziel is unsure why he rescued Allie from hellfire against Uriel’s orders, but she stirs in him a longing he hasn’t felt in centuries. Now the Fallen are bracing for the divine wrath brought by his disobedience, and they blame Allie for the ferocious Nephilim clawing at the kingdom’s shrouded gates. Facing impossible odds at every turn, the two must work together to survive. Raziel will do anything to defend his spirited lover against the forces of darkness—because Allie may be the Fallen’s only salvation.

About a Vampire
About a Vampire by Lynsay Sands is $1.99! This is book twenty-two (wow!) in her Argeneau series, which is a paranormal romance series with lots and lots of vampires. In this book, the hero turns the heroine into a vampire to keep her from dying, but turns out that she’s married. Talk about awkward. Readers who were introduced to the hero before in the series were so happy to finally get his book, so this may be a case of “you’ll get more enjoyment if you’re familiar with the previous books.” It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
In New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’ new Argeneau novel, a vampire accustomed to seducing every woman he meets finds the one determined to resist him…
With immortal good looks and scorching charisma, Justin Bricker has yet to meet a woman he can’t win over. His potential life mate should be no different. But instead of falling into his bed, Holly Bosley runs away and ends up mortally wounded. To save her, he has to turn her. And then Bricker learns the shocking truth: Holly’s already married.
Holly wakes up with a bump on her head, a craving for blood, and a sexy stranger who insists they belong together. She needs Bricker’s help to control her new abilities, even as she tries to resist his relentless seduction. Choosing between the world she knows and the eternity he offers is impossible. But Justin is fighting for his life mate—maybe even his life—and he’ll break every rule to do it.

Phantom Embrace
Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall is available for preorder for $1.99! Though the book doesn’t come out until this summer, I chose to include it because there was a lot of talk about wanting ghost romances in the comments section of our The Ghost & Mrs. Muir guest squee. There isn’t a lot of info out about this just yet, but I believe this is a novella and part of Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series.
Across dimensions . . .
A gifted one, Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits, but he knows better than to make contact with them. Yet he’s never seen one as lovely as Cat Seddon, the woman who haunts his home and his dreams. But amid their star-crossed love, a new danger may have Yuri facing a different kind of eternity.

Flesh and Fire
Flesh and Fire by Laura Anne Gilman is $1.99! Now this isn’t paranormal romance, but I wanted to include it because it’s a fantasy novel that uses wine for spellcrafting. That definitely seems like something the Bitchery would be interested in reading. Readers liked the new take on magic, but many found the book to be extremely slow, which is a common problem when a fantasy book is the first in a series.
From acclaimed bestselling author Laura Anne Gilman comes a unique and enthralling new story of fantasy and adventure, wine and magic, danger and hope….
Once, all power in the Vin Lands was held by the prince-mages, who alone could craft spellwines, and selfishly used them to increase their own wealth and influence. But their abuse of power caused a demigod to break the Vine, shattering the power of the mages. Now, fourteen centuries later, it is the humble Vinearts who hold the secret of crafting spells from wines, the source of magic, and they are prohibited from holding power.
But now rumors come of a new darkness rising in the vineyards. Strange, terrifying creatures, sudden plagues, and mysterious disappearances threaten the land. Only one Vineart senses the danger, and he has only one weapon to use against it: a young slave. His name is Jerzy, and his origins are unknown, even to him. Yet his uncanny sense of the Vinearts’ craft offers a hint of greater magics within magics that his Master, the Vineart Malech, must cultivate and grow. But time is running out. If Malech cannot teach his new apprentice the secrets of the spellwines, and if Jerzy cannot master his own untapped powers, the Vin Lands shall surely be destroyed.
In Flesh and Fire, first in a spellbinding new trilogy, Laura Anne Gilman conjures a story as powerful as magic itself, as intoxicating as the finest of wines, and as timeless as the greatest legends ever told.

“Grave Mercy” is on sale for $2.99. While I found the later books less absorbing, the first kept me up reading until I finished it after midnight. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005LVQZLQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1452791687&sr=1-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=grave+mercy&dpPl=1&dpID=519KJVvvQ8L&ref=plSrch
Spent the last week devouring the Paranormal/Shifter/Wild West Series Fevered Hearts by Heather Long.
First 3 books were a tough slog as you are introduced to the world and many, many, many paranormally gifted and/or Shifter characters. Underpinning the series is an interesting look at people coming into and learning to master a wide range of metaphysical gifts.
By the time I got to Book 4 I could not put it down, and Book 5 Raising Kane and Book 6 Wanted Fevered or Alive with siblings Kid and Jason’s gifts and romances were AMAZING: gut wrenching, heartwarming, just WOW. They were (5 Tissues) books that immediately went to my All Time Favourites List.
There is an ongoing metaphysical war plot with numerous complex characters and couples, but lovely, loving extended family/clan/pack relationships that continue to develop and grab you and hug you with each book in the series. Can’t wait to get to book 7 tonight. Has anybody else worked through the series?
There is a 4 book bundle of Heather Graham including The Island, Ghost Walk, Killing Kelly and The Vision for 99 cents at Amazon.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns is 1.99. It’s the first in an excellent YA trilogy that features a lot of complex character growth, strong and dynamic relationships (including great ones between women!), and a world with a lot of realism. Oh, and the main cast is all Hispanic and the white people from another country are written as weird “others.”
(While romance in the first book hits some, ah, obstacles, the second two books develop a fantastic relationship that really does have seeds sown in the first.)
For those who can’t wait for Dianne Duvall’s Phantom Embrace, it was actually released earlier in 2015 as part of the On the Hunt anthology, along with stories from other authors. The stand-alone novella, though, is set to be released in June 2016.

RAZIEL is worth buying just for the cover.
MMMM.
Raziel has a bad case of trilobite belly going on …
The Duchess War by Courtney Milan is free on Google Play, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.
I’d gone over to GPlay to buy something else when I found that and snagged me a copy. 🙂
“Raziel” by Kristina Douglas is FABULOUS!!!! (Yes, shouty caps are well deserved). How fabulous, you may ask? So fab I went & bought the 3 other books in the series. I love them all. How much did I love them, you may ask? So much I read the whole series TWICE!!!! Excellent writing. Plenty of snark, steam & action. Book 3, “Michael” I think is my favorite. I wish the series would continue!!!!!!
A lot of the reviews for Raziel and (more so) the sequel say there is an abusive vibe, with trigger warnings for torture of the heroine in the second book.
Katrina, the second book has an intricate plot line I won’t give away but I don’t think the reviews are accurately describing the story. I would not categorize this series that way. In any case, I will say that Book 2 was not the strongest of the series, however I would still recommend Kristina Douglas’ “Fallen” books.
