The Marriage Contract
RECOMMENDED: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is $1.99! This is an arranged marriage plot in a modern setting, which I would love to see more of! The book does deal with characters in the mob, which I know is a big off-button for some readers, so FYI. Elyse’s review came out today and she gave it an A:
If you had told me that I’d really love a book about the children of two Boston mob bosses being in an arranged marriage, I’d have raised a skeptical eyebrow. But I’m so so glad that The Marriage Contract proved me wrong because I enjoyed it immensely.
Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.
Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

Desire Unchained
RECOMMENDED: Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione is $1.99! This is the second book in her Demonica series and my personal favorite. It’s a second chance romance between enemies. The heroine blames the hero for getting her turned into a werewolf and so things are pretty tense when they both wake up in a dungeon. It’s emotional and just all sorts of wonderful. You may be able to get away with reading out of order, though I don’t think I’d recommend it.
Pleasure is their ultimate weapon . . .
Runa Wagner never meant to fall in love with the sexy stranger who seemed to know her every deepest desire. But she couldn’t resist the unbelievable passion that burned between them, a passion that died when she discovered his betrayal and found herself forever changed. Now, determined to make Shade pay for the transformation that haunts her, Runa searches for him, only to be taken prisoner by his darkest enemy.
A Seminus Demon with a love-curse that threatens him with eternal torment, Shade hoped he’d seen the last of Runa and her irresistible charm. But when he wakes up in a dank dungeon chained next to an enraged and mysteriously powerful Runa, he realizes that her effect on him is more dangerous than ever. As their captor casts a spell that bonds them as lifemates, Shade and Runa must fight for their lives and their hearts-or succumb to a madman’s evil plans.

The Art of Sinning
The Art of Sinning by Sabrina Jeffries is $3.99! This historical romance came out last summer and is the first in a new series. Readers loved the pairing of an American artists and a London heiress. However, a few reviewers mentioned that this lacks the passion and pace of Jeffries’ previous titles. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
American artist Jeremy Keane refuses to return home and take over his father’s business. He’d much rather sample bevvies of beauties abroad, in search of a model for the provocative masterpiece he’s driven to paint. When he meets Lady Yvette Barlow at a London wedding, he realizes she’s perfect for his work—and determines to capture the young heiress’s defiant spirit and breathtaking sensuality on canvas.
No stranger to scandal, Yvette agrees to be Keane’s subject—in exchange for his help gaining entry to the city’s brothels he knows intimately, so she can track a missing woman and solve a family mystery. But when their practical partnership leads to lessons in the art of sinning, can they find a bold and lasting love?

Risking It All
Risking It All by Tessa Bailey is $1.99! This contemporary romance also has a hero connected to the mob, so just be forewarned. Though many loved the hero’s pairing with a heroine who works with the NYPD. And if you’re looking to catch up on the series, book two is on sale for $1.99 and the third book is available for preorder for $3.99!
NYPD detective Seraphia Newsom will avenge her brother’s death at any cost. Even if it means insinuating herself into a rough, Brooklyn street gang and going so far undercover, she’s not sure she’ll be able to get out. Every minute she spends in their midst means the clock ticking down on her life, especially when she overhears something that could get her killed.
Bowen Driscol is the heir to a crime enterprise. He never asked for the job, but with his father behind bars, he has no choice but to step in and keep the operation running. But when the NYPD blackmails him with a piece of damning information in exchange for aiding an undercover cop, he finds himself on the other side of the law for the first time in his life.
Bowen knows the danger Sera is in, and keeping her safe trumps saving his own ass. The problem? She can’t know he’s on her side. And there’s the matter of the seriously inconvenient heat sparking between them that’s incinerating his resistance. But Sera only sees Bowen’s past, and men like him are the reason her brother is dead. If they’re to get out alive, he’ll have to risk exposing the man beneath, and hope to hell he doesn’t blow the whole operation in the process.

the first THREE (!!!) books in the demonica series are on sale for $1.99, so I had to buy all three. They’re normally pretty expensive for an ebook. I read all of them a while back as a friend owns them, but I’m really glad to own copies myself now.
While technically not one of my favorites of hers, I will mention Julie Garwood’s Gentle Warrior is a Daily Deal for $1.99.
Happy dance!!! I have been hemming and hawing and dithering about whether I could tolerate paying $5.99 for Tessa Bailey books as I have a mental block at the $5 point for any ebook. On seeing this post I just let out an embarrassing squeak of joy (silent sorry to my coworkers) as I clicked over to buy.
Kobo has “dark and twisty romances” for .99 and 1.99 – https://store.kobobooks.com/List/dark-and-twisty-reads-at-1-99-or-less/UlXtpqwsosBqTAjTFTd67w
I loved, loved, loved the Marriage Contract. Smart, sexy, and poignant! Loved the mob twist and the heroine as the heir to the mob throne.
The Art of Sinning? I’m all over it. The cover is gorgeous. Besides, I love Sabrina J!
Larissa Ione is total crack for me.
I’ve enjoyed Jeffries novels in the past, but every time I meet the eyes of the male model on that cover, I keep bursting into laughter.
The Art of Sinning cover boy creeps me out. He’s staring at me. I can’t even read about the book, his eyes are following me! EEP!
I loved Larissa Ione’s Demonica series. It is one of the few collections that I thought improved as you got further along (pre-addition of Lord’s of Deliverance though, it’s the same universe and I see on some lists as part of the series but I refuse to acknowledge them)
