Moving a few hours south means that there are a lot of subtle differences I’ve noticed, such as the mud being a different color – which confuses me every time it’s rainy because it’s grey instead of dark brown red and I immediately think something spilled. Another difference: the radio stations. Lots more country! Lots more gospel! Sometimes both!
I haven’t settled all my pre-programmed stations (my car is too old for a port to my phone or an iPod, alas) so I flip around a lot while I drive. Last night I was trying to figure out how my GPS expected me to make a U-turn in six lanes of traffic (SERIOUSLY WHAT IS WITH THE U TURNS) and this song came on. I was only half paying attention to the lyrics until the second verse, but when I saw the whole lyric video I had to share it. This made my day!
Please meet Tim Bowman, Jr., and his very awesome song, I’m Good:

Wherever you are this weekend, especially if you’re in the path of SnoWTF, I hope you are safe and warm, with plenty of books and good food, so everyone’s good.

We’re stocked up with food and wine. Extra batteries for the LED lanterns and radio. I just hope that doesn’t happen because 94yr old FIL lives down the hall and is bedbound. Otherwise, it’s a chance to turn over on Sat. morning and NOT go to Temple.
Sarah, have you tried any radio apps? I use myTuner Radio (free version) and I can listen to any radio station. I use a bluetooth speaker or headset and I’m good to go.
I noticed this driving to Nashville last fall. South of Danville rock of most varieties just seems to disappear from the dial. Not necessarily a bad thing. I knew the lyrics to “Burning House” by heart long before I ever heard it played up here.
Great message. Thanks for sharing!
Are you no longer in New Jersey? Did I miss a move?
My car has a cassette player, and for about $2 on Amazon, I got a cassette transformer with a cable that attaches to my iPod. Got to listen to podcasts somehow!
@KellyS: yup, we moved. We are in Maryland now, so not too far!
Thanks for sharing that – it’s an important message that I imagine many of us could stand to be reminded of early and often!
There are quite a few car FM transmitters you can use to play music from your iPod or phone on your car’s speakers as long as your radio works. Basically, you put the device in the cigarette holder and connect the headphone jack to your phone. Then tune your radio to the channel displayed on the device and hit play!

Almost 18 minutes of Fabio plus a roaring fireplace and kittens with a bottle of champagne. He even speaks now and then.
