  • Big Girl Panties

Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich

Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich is $1.99! Sarah haaaated this book. HATED IT. But I know there are people out there who loves things we hate or maybe just want to have a very full glass of wine and do a little hate reading on a weeknight. Here’s a little excerpt from Sarah’s review:

Every time I think about this book it makes me so angry. SO ANGRY. I hated the hero so much, I considered wearing my night guard while I wrote this so I wouldn’t get a headache from clenching my teeth so hard.

You know what? Screw it. It’s mouth guard time. This is a teeth-clenchingly bad hero, and I hated him with the burning fiery hatred of a thousand suns filled with hate and Fox News which are kind of the same thing. So, mouthguard in, it’s time to try to review this book without devolving into a twitchy mass of anger and outrage. It’s not even fun hate reading, this book. It’s rage reading. The more I read, the more I hated the hero with all the hate.

Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich is a rollicking and poignant romantic comedy about a young widow who decides to get in shape…and winds up getting her groove back—and a whole lot more!

Holly Brennan used food to comfort herself through her husband’s illness and death. Now she’s alone at age thirty-two. And she weighs more than she ever has. When fate throws her in the path of Logan Montgomery, personal trainer to pro athletes, and he offers to train her, Holly concludes it must be a sign. Much as she dreads the thought of working out, Holly knows she needs to put on her big girl panties and see if she can sweat out some of her grief.

Soon, the easy intimacy and playful banter of their training sessions lead Logan and Holly to most intense and steamy workouts. But can Holly and Logan go the distance as a couple now that she’s met her goals—and other men are noticing?

  • Duke In My Bed

Duke In My Bed by Amelia Grey

The Duke In My Bed by Amelia Grey is $2.99! This is the first book in the Heirs’ Club of Scoundrels Trilogy. Some readers found the characters’ backstories to be a bit darker than what they were expecting. But despite that, many thought this was a very sweet historical romance, just with a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Have you read this one?

From bestselling author Amelia Grey comes a wickedly romantic tale of one reckless bachelor, five unwed sisters, and a wildly unconventional game of love…

    HERE COMES THE GROOM

As a notorious member of the Heirs’ Club, Bray Drakestone can’t resist a challenge from one of his well-heeled colleagues—especially when it involves money and horses. But the friendly wager takes an unexpected and deadly turn. Bray is forced to agree to marry one of his challenger’s five sisters—sight unseen. Now gamblers all over London are placing bets on whether Bray will actually go through with it…

    THERE GOES THE BRIDE

Miss Louisa Prim, the eldest sister, doesn’t care a whit what the reckless rogue at the Heirs’ Club promised her brother—she has no intention of marrying the future Duke of Drakestone. Bray, however, sees her rejection as another challenge. He bets that the fiery Miss Prim will not only agree to marry him, she will propose to him! With four sisters behind her, Louisa knows she can’t lose. But why does her opponent have to be a divinely handsome scoundrel? And so sweetly, irresistibly seductive…

  • Truly Sweet

    Truly Sweet by Candis Terry

Truly Sweet by Candis Terry is $1.99! This is a small town contemporary romance with a single parent heroine. Readers loved the blend of humor and emotion. However, some readers mentioned that it took a while to warm up to the hero. If you’re looking to pick up more books by Terry, most of the other books in the Sweet, Texas series are on sale!

Candis Terry returns to Sweet, Texas for the last time when former Marine Jake Wilder discovers how truly sweet love can be.

“When the one you’ve always wanted “

At sixteen, Annabelle Morgan hoped her crush on Jake Wilder was just a passing phase. Now she’s twenty-nine and nothing has changed except Jake. The once-carefree marine has come home with a giant chip on his shoulder. He insists a single mom like Annie deserves more than he can offer. Yet no matter how gruff his gorgeous exterior may be, Jake’s toe-curling kisses convince her that this attraction is definitely mutual.

“Becomes the one who wants you back “

Butting heads with feisty Annie was always a thrill. Add other body parts to the mix, and Jake is in serious trouble. He can’t be a forever-and-family guy and Annie’s not a friends-with-benefits kind of woman. But love has a way of changing the best-laid plans, and surrender has never been so tempting.

    “The outcome is truly sweet.”

  • The Winter Stone

The Winter Stone by Tanya Anne Crosby

The Winter Stone is 99c! This is a trio of novellas from authors Tanya Anne Crosby, Glynnis Campbell, and Laurin Wittig. Honestly, all three of them sound pretty neat – time travel, a fey heroine, and a scarred hero. Reviews at Goodreads recommended this anthology if you love Scottish historical romances and it has 4.1-star rating.

    One legend, Three Enchanting Novellas

Three best-selling, award-winning, authors, three heart-felt stories, the splendor of Scotland, and a legend passed down through generations. These are the romantic tales of the Winter Stone…

In Once Upon a Highland Legend, a Guardians of the Stone novella, by Tanya Anne Crosby, Annie McPherson has gone through her entire life a bit lost. She’s about to find herself misplaced in time as well, where she must take her place as a guardian and find a way to restore the faith of a powerful chieftain. Will she win his heart as well?

In MacAlister’s Hope, a Kilmartin Glen novella, by Laurin Wittig, Kieron MacAlister has always loved Fia MacLachlan, a wee fey lass he met years ago who, with her sweet smile and surprising insight, changed his life. When he comes face-to-face with the beautiful woman she’s grown into, can he convince her to change her life, too?

In The Outcast, a Scottish Lasses novella, by Glynnis Campbell, Lachlan Mar, a disfigured and broken Scots warrior, doesn’t believe anything can mend the wounds of war until Alisoune Hay, a brilliant and beautiful young lass, stumbles into his cottage and his life, healing his hurt and his heart with the most magical power of all–love.

Winter Stone: Scotland? Scarred hero? Time travel? 99 cents?

    Click. Purchased!

  2. Squimbelina says:

    Bray Drakestone? O_o? Satire, yes?

  3. Squimbelina says:

‘Ang on, ‘ang on – and he’s supposed to be both a posh bloke and British? Our posh blokes are called Sebastian Fenwick, or Oliver Sinclair, or I dunno, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall! I wouldn’t be able to read the book for eye rolling.

  4. Tam says:

I bet ‘Bray’ is short for ‘Brayden’. Lots of British aristocrats had names like ‘Brayden.’ ^^

  5. Teev says:

I read Duke in My Bed last week and had to go look it up (since returned to library) to remember the plot. It is utterly average, neither terrible enough nor good enough to be memorable. Except for the hero’s name, which I hear in my head in Derek Zoolander’s voice, and thus is terrible and wonderful all at the same time.

  6. ReneeG says:

I had forgotten how utterly smashing your review for “Big Girl Panties” was, Sarah. Hadn’t read all the comments, so they were fun too!

    Not buying the book, obvs.

  7. @SB Sarah says:

It’s funny, I know a few people who have bought that book and really liked it, and I’ve had several long conversations about the things I hated and the things they liked. There’s definitely people who dug it, but alas, I was NOT one of them.

  8. CelineB says:

I DNF’d Big Girl Panties. I had read Sarah’s rant, but a friend had recommended it to me so I decided to check the audiobook out from the library. I just couldn’t finish it. I hated the hero so much and didn’t really care for the heroine either.

I noticed Maybe Maby by Willow Aster was $1.99 at Amazon; it was on Tori from Smexy Books’s best of 2015 list.

Also Always to Remember by Lorraine Heath is on sale for $1.99. It’s one of my favorite romances of all time. The hero is the town pariah for not joining the Confederacy during the Civil War. The heroine hates him for that initially as well. The majority of the town uses the slavery’s wrong but we want states rights argument so that could be problematic for some. I was able to look past that, but I think it’s an important thing to know going in. The way the hero changes the heroine and the town’s view of him and stance on the war was really well done.

  9. kkw says:

I also hated Big Girl Panties, it’s ghastly, and just in case any inattentive readers make the same mistake I did: this is not a Janet Evanonvich book, and is nothing like the Stephanie Plum series, so Do Not mix up all those names in your head and imagine you want to read this.

  10. Olivia says:

Ah man! tried to see the BIG SPOILER for BGP, in the book review, but it’s gone? Someone, please spoil me!!! What did Logan do!!!!

  11. kitkat9000 says:

@Olivia: before the site was updaTed some time ago, one had to scroll over the spoiler section in order to read it. If you’re using your phone, highlight the text and you should be fine.

On another note, I wouldn’t go anywhere near this.

  12. Lisa says:

Still doesn’t work on a phone. At least I couldn’t make it do so. What was the spoiler?

  13. @Amanda says:

@Everyone: Spoiler has been fixed! (It got all wonky when we did the site redesign.) So spoil at will!

  14. Olivia says:

@Amanda thanks for fixing the spoiler! I had no intentions of reading this book, but I HAD to finish reading that review!

  15. AC6 says:

Not surprising that Big Girl Panties was awful; I DNFed Chase and Amanda’s story and it also features “surprise” BDSM. WHYYYYY

  16. Nancy says:

I’m glad BGP is on sale JUST so I could read that review! What a horrible horrible HORRIBLE dufus-dick-jerk, but what a GREAT review and opening gif.
