This book was a Sizzling Book Club Pick, and when it was on sale last year, I wrote, “It’s absorbing, beautiful, and made me tear up at the end. It’s amazing – buy it for yourself or for someone who likes historical romance, mystery, or really, really powerful writing.”
History has all but forgotten…
In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown.
Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next bestselling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write.
But when she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction, Carrie wonders if she might be dealing with ancestral memory, making her the only living person who knows the truth-the ultimate betrayal-that happened all those years ago, and that knowledge comes very close to destroying her…

This book has a 3.6-star average on GoodReads, and readers who enjoyed it said that it’s incredibly hot with a lot of imaginative scenes involving multiple partners. If it’s cold where you are, this might help!
The Coates Inn restaurant in Cape Cod is about to go out of business when its striking owner, Abby, jumps at a stranger’s offer of help – both in her kitchen and her bedroom. Storm, a handsome chef, claims to have a secret weapon: an aphrodisiac menu that her patrons won’t be able to resist. It certainly works on Abby – who gives in to the passions she has denied herself for years.
But can this playboy chef really be Abby’s hero if her body means more to him than her heart, and his initial plan was to steal the restaurant from under her nose? Storm soon turns the restaurant around, but Abby’s insatiable desires have taken over her life. She’s never known a guy into crazy sex like him before, and she wants to spend every spare moment getting as much intense erotic pleasure as she can. Meanwhile, her best friend Marissa becomes suspicious of the new wonder-boy in the kitchen. Before things get really out of control, someone has to assume responsibility. But can Abby tear herself away from the object of her lustful attention long enough to see what’s really going on?

Secrets of a Jewish Baker by George Greenstein is $1.99 digitally, and I’m not going to lie – I bought the hell out of this cookbook the minute I saw it, and I’m not supposed to eat too much bread. This cookbook was originally published in 1993, and won the James Beard Award. It has a 4.48-star average, and includes instructions for hand-kneading, using a stand mixer, or using a food processor. Seriously. I’m glad I have a bulk-size container of yeast in my house because it is ON.
For more than twenty years, George Greenstein owned and operated a Long Island bakery that produced all sorts of baked goods, from all sorts of ethnic traditions—focaccia and Irish soda bread, Bavarian pumpernickel and naan—including many from his own culture, such as Jewish corn bread, challah, and bagels. His bakery was one of those neighborhood treasures where every weekday evening commuters picked up brown paper bags filled with a dozen Vienna rolls straight from the oven, and every weekend morning lines extended out the door for hours. In this James Beard Award-winning cookbook, Greenstein reveals 125 recipes for the yeasted and quick breads that have been handed down through his family by three generations of bakers—the breads that made his bakery so well-loved for so many years. And now that most neighborhood bakeries like Greenstein’s are long since closed, this classic collection serves not only to teach bakers everywhere how to make those delicious, classic breads, but it also preserves authentic versions of the included Jewish recipes for all to enjoy. With the same helpful features that made this a cherished cookbook upon its original publication—separate instructions for mixing each recipe by hand, food processor, and stand mixer; tips for baking a week’s worth of bread in as few as two hours; invaluable baker’s secrets; and a very approachable style throughout—this revised edition also includes twelve new recipes to satisfy both old fans and new. So bring the spirit of that great old bakery back to life right in your very own kitchen, filling every room of your house with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread. And rest assured you’ll bake with ease and success every time, thanks to George and his long-learned, very happily shared SECRETS OF A JEWISH BAKER.

Silver Skin by D L McDermott is $1.99 right now, it’s the second in the Cold Iron series that everyone was talking about a few months ago. They normally are $6 apiece, so that’s a great deal.
There’s a Christmas/military twofer of novellas that I really liked called Gifts of Honor that’s currently $1
And can we talk about the cover for Cooking Up a Storm? Because I first saw it as a tiny picture in a book sale email on my phone, and COULD NOT, for the life of me, figure out what was going on there. It’s a lot easier to see what’s what in a larger photo.
SEP’s Heroes Are My Weakness is on sale for $3.99; has been 7 or 8 dollars in the past.
The Hathaway complete series by Lisa Kleypas is available on Amazon for 9.99-its all 5 books. I also picked up An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn for 1.99.
The Winter Sea is not available in Canada, Amazon nor iBooks
In the UK, Susanna Kearsley’s The Firebird is only 99p on Amazon.
