Smart Bitches Hanukkah Party, Part Two

graphic image of menorah with a book in front. It's probably supposed to be the torah or something but I'm pretending it's a romanceIt’s time for night number two of our Hanukkah celebration, complete with eight straight nights of giveaways. Tonight is the second night of Hanukkah, so today there’s fun stuff to win!

As I mentioned yesterday, in addition to readerly items, we’ll be celebrating the different features and contributions from Elyse, RedHeadedGirl, Carrie, and Amanda.

But most of all, we’ll be celebrating you because the site wouldn’t be as awesome fun as it is without you.

So get ready and grabbed some fried food!

The second Smart Bitches Hanukkah Party giveaway celebrates Amanda’s Covers & Cocktails, and invites you to mix up and read! The prize? A stainless steel bar set, martini glasses, and a $25 bookstore gift card – winner’s choice of retailer! I wish it were easier to send liquor, but alas, that’s not an easy option, so we’re going with the accoutrements of mixed beverages, and the possibility of books, allowing you to fill in the libation and the library of your choosing!

Bar set including shaker, jigger, tongs, mixing paddle and spoon

The martini glasses are stemless, which I prefer in my glassware because I am klutzy and I talk with my hands. These hold 8 oz. and are 3 7/8″ (9.5cm) tall x 4″ in diameter (10cm).

Glass martini glasses that are short and on small bases instead of tall on thin stems

Aren’t they cute? I think so. I think most of my glassware is stemless at this point. Easy to wash in the dishwasher, too.

So, ready to drink enter to win?

Please leave a comment and tell us what you’d drink while reading! It doesn’t have to be alcoholic – but we welcome your beverage recommendations should you have any!

Whatever beverage is easily available and already opened at the time. Lately that’s been
    Coffee, but wine works too.

  2. Becky Ann says:

While I usually forget the rest of the world while I’m reading, including whatever beverage I have nearby, I have fond memories of Pirate’s Delight. Rather like an Amaretto Sour having a love child with a Strawberry Daiquiri I was introduced to this drink when several of us would gather to read in one of the local bar & grills many years ago. I’m told by waitstaff that there is something very odd, but wonderful about 4 women taking up a booth all reading while drinking for about 5 hours on a weekend.

  3. Amanda says:

Coffee with milk. Cheers and happy holidays!

  4. Abby says:

I like to try to get my drink to go along with what I’m reading. I’m reading some holiday romances now, so maybe something like hot chocolate with Bailey’s, or mulled wine. Hot toddies are also good in the cold winter!

  5. Jas says:

Tea. My favorite thing to do on a rainy winter day is curl up on my reading chair with a mug of tea and a book,

  6. LauraL says:

Chock Full o’ Nuts coffee for me!

  7. camilla says:

wine – I prefer the fine pinks!!!!!!!

  8. Sarah says:

Well, last night I had prosecco with a splash of cranberry while reading, so I guess that’s my current drink of choice! In the summer, it’s a G&T with rosemary. But let’s be honest – I’ll pretty much drink anything while reading.

  9. Make Kay says:

    wine, definitely!

  10. susan says:

Hot tea, always tea. Tea goes with everything.

  11. Amy K says:

It’s got to be the gin gimlet. It’s refreshing and zing-y. And for some reason, pairs very well with cheese Pringles.

  12. Molly M says:

An old fashion…in a martini glass(?!)

  13. Casplet says:

During this time of year I love to curl up on the couch with hot chocolate, cookies, and a cat or three.

  14. Kathleen Henderson says:

    Cheers!!

  15. Julia says:

Because it is winter, and I take that as an excuse to drink the more decadent of beverages, I would make a chocolate martini or a mini-mudslide. Is it too cold for a mudslide? I don’t care, bring on the alcohol and ice cream!

  16. Sarah Parent says:

White Russian, wood-burning stove, good book: perfect evening

  17. erinf1 says:

as long as it’s not too late in the day, I drink coffee with White Chocolate Rasberry creamer 🙂 thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  18. Kim says:

    Hot chocolate

  19. AuntieKristin says:

    Manhattan

  20. Ann Marie says:

Coffee. Definitely coffee. With a shot. Or two. Baileys, Amaretto, Rum Chata. It all works.

  21. Kareni says:

Add me to the list who’d be drinking hot chocolate!

    And happy Hanukkah!

  22. Jenny says:

    Hard Cider. Yum yum yum…

  23. Lisa says:

    Anything with Bailey’s for me

  24. Trix says:

Usually it’s a latte or mocha, though sometimes I’ll have a beer (Lost Coast’s Great White is my favorite).

  25. Kathryn says:

If it’s summer and I’m reading on my back porch, it’s a Moscow Mule of Mojito all the way. When cold and allergies drive me inside, port’s my drink of choice for reading. Slow, small sips work best for both port and getting so caught up in a chapter you forget to reach for your drink.

  26. marjorie says:

I just bought my husband Contraband Cocktails by Paul Dickson, a look at cocktail culture during Prohibition. I will FULLY OWN that I bought it for him because I wanna read it! “Chock-full of scandalous history, delicious anecdotes, dozens of recipes, and a glossary of terms that could surprise even the most seasoned bartender, Paul Dickson’s Contraband Cocktails is the perfect companion to any reader’s Cocktail Hour.” HELLO YES PLZ http://www.mhpbooks.com/books/contraband-cocktails/

I like gin, hubby likes rye.

  27. Melonie says:

If I’m reading during the day: coffee, strong and black.
At night: wine, sweet (sometimes dry) and white.

Oh my, now there is some serious innuendo going on here.

  28. JenM says:

Well, I’m always on a diet, so all I typically ever drink is water, but in the winter, the occasional hot chocolate makes an appearance also.

  29. stacey says:

I’ve just discovered gunpowder tea, thanks to Grace Burrowes. I’d have to ice it for the glasses, but that works, too! 🙂

  30. Amelia N says:

    Hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps!

  31. JessiG says:

This time of year is hot toddies or hot cocoa with Bailey’s. Especially if it’s cold and snowy out.

  32. Nanda says:

At this time of year tea or hot chocolate.

  33. Turophile says:

A cocktail with herbs from my garden – maybe lemon verbana and vodka, mint julep or mojito, or lemon lavender beverage.

  34. Vanessa says:

When reading at home I usually enjoy a glass of red wine or tea, but with a new martini set I could spice things up a bit! I’m a big fan of mojitos and anything with bubbles 😛

  35. Tresgrumpy says:

Seasonally I’d go with a hot toddy probably.

  36. LSUReader says:

Generally while reading, I’m drinking water or Diet Coke. But in those glasses? I’ll have a margarita on the rocks, no salt. Thanks for the giveaway.

  37. Ellie Bean says:

I think for drinking and reading I’d go with coffee with kahlua or Irish cream in it and/or white russians. 🙂

  38. Heather says:

Tea in the afternoon–but occasionally I love a glass of wine and a really long bath with a favorite book.

  39. Kathy says:

I’ll be drinking tea… but if I have the house to myself, it will be a Cosmo!
