We’re celebrating ourย community, all the books we’ve read and recommended, and all the things we’ve talked about this past year, and really, planning the Hanukkah giveaways is a LOT of fun.

I don’t think there’s a bag big enough to hold all the books we’ve talked about, so this is more symbolic than literal, but hey, bags and books are always a good combination!

So get ready and grabbed some fried food and your nearest book!

The thirdย Smart Bitches Hanukkah Party giveaway is all about books and bags! Using the widget below, you can enter to winย a $50 eBags gift card and a $50 gift card to the bookseller of your choice!

At eBags, you can pick out whatever kind of bag you need to haul your reading around. They have tons of bags in so many different styles. There are all sorts of satchels that look like they could hold some serious reading material, and totes, too.

So, ready to enter? Use the widget below to enter, and as always, if you have trouble, please email me.

“Do not eat anything that has been on the floor for more than 10 seconds”

10? That’s a typo, right? In my part of the world, (the suburbs), 3 seconds is the rule (but I suppose that if the Property Brothers have just turned over your newly Scott-ified home to you, you could stretch it to 5 seconds).
    But 10? Yecchh!
    Happy Hanukkah!

  2. Julia says:

Today’s giveaway is especially inspired, ’cause we’re ALWAYS ready to tote and read! *flexes toting muscles to demonstrate*

    Happy Hanukkah!

  3. kitkat9000 says:

    Damn you, Sarah!!! *waves fist*

I had somehow managed to never learn of eBags existence. Yeah, can’t say that anymore unfortunately. Scrolled through their wares and found 4 bags in less than 3 pages. You have no idea how picky I am about handbags. That I could find that many in that short a time? Definitely not a good thing.

  4. BeckyM. says:

    Love be the disclaimers!!!!

  5. @SB Sarah says:

    @kitkat9000:

Oh, dear. eBags is wonderful and tempting. I love it, but I know the danger, too. I’m sorry!

  6. Sofia says:

I love any bag that can double as a shoulder bag or can be worn as a satchel.

  7. Becky Ann says:

I’m a messenger bag slut. I have several and always need more.

  8. Katherine C. says:

Well crap. Now I too am aware of this sites existence. Fortunately, I like my books more than I like my bags, so there’s little chance of allowing it to eat into my book budget.

  9. jcp says:

Whatever seems to be handy is what I use

  10. jaymzangel says:

My favorite bag would be a bag of doughnuts. Especially if one appeared in front of me right now. =P Otherwise, I love a good hobo.

  11. MarieC says:

An over-the-shoulder totes usually work for me. I would love to use more messenger bags, but the cross-body strap creates a ‘great divide’ in the boobage that makes me uncomfortable.

  12. Kareni says:

My favorite bag is one that is lightweight yet sturdy and holds many books. I’m fairly certain that I could find something (Okay, many somethings) I’d like from eBags!

  13. Kristi says:

I can’t go look at the site… too tempting!

  14. erinf1 says:

hehehe… I’m so not into bags, but every once in a while I get bag lust. Right now I”m using a large, pretty cloth bag that I can fit my purse, kindle, magazines and various other misc items and it doesn’t look like luggage. People keep asking me if it’s a “insert fancy brand name here” but I got it at Target ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the awesome giveaway and Happy Hanukkah!

  15. Pamala says:

I’m lately in love with satchels, especially since I can fit all my stuff (eReader, wallet, notepad, etc.) in an still look like the homeless lady with the kick ass bag ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. NCK says:

I used to work at a department store handbag counter, so I have A LOT of bag opinions. It also contributed to a fairly extensive handbag collection.

The things I think a good bag should have are: at least 2 pockets, a key hold strap, metal feet (ESPECIALLY if it’s leather), a metal zipper, and secure handle attachments. Also, some structure is important to keep it looking nice over time.

Thank you so much, and Happy Hanukkah!

  17. @SB Sarah says:

    @NCK:

I am 2000% here for your handbag opinions! Are there any brands or styles you recommend most?

  18. Ingrid says:

HA. I am now not clicking on that link, before I find myself with even more bags. Because I think I may already have a shoe problem. Also, I didn’t leave my e-mail in the widget.. just my answer. Should I have? (Ohgodtheselfdoubt)

  19. molly says:

I grab any bag that’s handy! No favorites here.

  20. Janiec says:

Love any kind of bag that I can wear crossbody.

  21. Kat T. says:

I like a “mini-messenger bag” that I can tuck my Samsung Galaxy Tab A and my S6 into, and a few other odds and ends, and wear crossbody if I need/want to. Oh yeah…it’s gotta be black, too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. A deceptively simple promo bag from Chronicle Books – it rolls up into nothing, and holds 2 cases of cat food #miraclebag

  23. Karen W. says:

I’ll use any kind of tote I can get my hands on. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Shel says:

For a lightweight crossbody, I like LeSportSac’s Deluxe Everyday Bag, lots of sections.

  25. Glenda says:

It’s gotta be big (mind outta the trash) with multiple compartments and has to zip closed – I hate when stuff falls out of my bag!

    Happy Hanukkah!

  26. Stacy Hoff says:

A Hanukkah party? I love it! Glad I’m invited. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also love the chance to win $50 worth of gelt – I mean bag!!!! How fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Natalie G says:

Power tools can definitely cure headaches. Just ask any neurosurgeon. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I like cross body bags that are big enough to fit wallet/keys/phone and a book or iPad mini. I stay away from ebags because I buy things there.

  28. Vicki says:

OK so there was a study done in a college cafeteria that included culturing dropped objects. Turns out 30 seconds is safe as long as it’s not a sticky surface such as cheese or peanut butter. Which allowed me to loosen up enough to accept the 10 second rule.

  29. marjorie says:

I just lick the floor. This is why we have a liver.

  30. Lynn says:

I love a bag that zips shut, has a couple compartments, a shoulder strap, and can hold at least two books! Sarah, thank you so much for doing these giveaways! It is so generous of you, and it’s just wonderful to have someone talking about Hanukkah in December!
