  1. Barbara Laufersweiler says:

Oven-baked cranberry orange preserves with cardamom, from the cookbook Helen Witty’s Fancy Pantry. SO good. SO easy. The scents and tastes of winter and holidays, ready to eat all winter.

  2. LauraL says:

I bake cookies during the holidays, from Thanksgiving until the new year, baking cookies as needed. Our neighborhood cookie exchange party is tomorrow night, so I will be baking Gingerbread Spritz from the Wilton recipe tonight!

  3. I love cooking and baking most of the time. Antipasto is my fav for the season. (it’s hot here and an Italian influence). Baking wise peanut butter and choc chip cookies American style and I’ve developed a new love for gingerbread cookies. While I’ll always be partial to shortbread sometimes they are not easy to master.

  4. Amy Z. says:

I love baking cupcakes! They’re fun to eat and fun to decorate.

  5. Cathy says:

Brownies, cakes, cookies. As long as it doesn’t require a crust, I wanna bake it!

  6. Kilian Metcalf says:

I love baking with yeast, especially challah and other sweetish breads. I would love to try some medieval baking recipes.

  7. J says:

Birthday cakes. They’re fun to customize & quite tasty.

  8. Teresa C says:

Okay, you made me think. I like basic tasty baking. Bread, cakes, cookes, pies, anything that doesn’t take 100 ingredients or steps to complete.

  9. Jill says:

It’s a tie between bacon brownies and lemon ‘baby’ pound cake. It’s called ‘baby’ cake because the catalyst for making it was a student who wanted me to bake her flour sack baby in return for actually completing the project.

  10. infinitieh says:

Does whipped cream count? I like to use different varietal honeys, just to depart a more subtle flavor in the whipped cream.

  11. Amber says:

I really like to make cookies with my cookie press. I don’t like to use cookie cutters, so this way I get cute shapes without the frustration.

For non sweets, I like to make noodles from scratch. It’s really not that hard, but I don’t often take the time to do it.

  12. I make a lot of sandwiches. 🙁

  13. KarenF says:

My favorite recipe is something I found on Sally’s Baking Addiction website, which is a can-do-no wrong site: iced chai spice snickerdoodles. So very good. (Her brownie recipe is also fantastic).

  14. Virginia says:

I am addicted to making white chocolate, cranberry, and pistachio muffins. They also look great because they are red, white, and green.

  15. Texas Book Lover says:

I love to bake chocolate, chocolate chips brownies. Honestly I love it as long as it’s sweet and even better if it’s chocolate.

  16. Sabrina says:

My favorite thing to make shifts constantly, but right now I’m on the hunt for the perfect scone recipe.

  17. gamistress66 says:

    i always enjoyed baking cookies

  18. RJ says:

I love making curries. So much flavor…only one pan.

  19. Suzanne Whitehouse says:

I love to bake bread. Right now I have a really small oven, so I have to make small loaves. There is nothing better than the smell of warm bread, followed by the taste of warm fresh bread with butter and honey. Yum!

  20. No-bake cookies. Because I’m not so great at the baking of things.

  21. Kate says:

Well, there’s no point in being modest – I make extremely good egg rolls. And spanakopita. And any book with people having a cream tea prompts me to bake scones. Now I’m really hungry.

  22. twirlygirl says:

My favorite things to bake are french bread and chocolate cake. Sometimes all in the same day

  23. Val Surprenant says:

We’ve been making a lot of banana bread lately – my son enjoys making that with me. something about smashing bananas…

  24. Diane says:

I love making French macarons. It took me at least four times to achieve the perfect macaron, I did it. People are so impressed!

  25. Kelly S. says:

Spicy Ginger Crinkles except I prefer mine raw to baked. Likewise with chocolate chip cookies.

    Penzey’s is awesome!

  26. Ms. M says:

“Favorite” is really hard, but I can accurately say pies and cakes. I love baking fruit pies in the summer, and bundt cakes the rest of the time. And fruit cake for Christmas- I love letting the fruit marinate in port for AGES (which reminds me, I need to be about that!).

  27. Debi Webster says:

Every year we (mom, grandma and I) make great grandma’s Ranger Cookies for all of my employees. The last year Grandma was alive, we made over 500 for 100 employees. Grandma was 95 and we could barely keep up. Grandma has passed and I haven’t made them since. Perhaps this year

  28. Mary C. says:

Eggrolls – labor intensive, so it’s only for special occasions

  29. LaurieF says:

Cream cheese lemon squares and butter tart bars. They are yummy.

  30. NCK says:

I’m best at cookies, but I’ve only just recently able to churn out baked goods that aren’t both burned and raw.

  31. Chocolate chip muffin, anything with puff pastry, and I have a kick ass recipe for cranberry orange scones.

  32. Rachel F. says:

I love to make brownies from scratch, using my mom’s Betty Crocker cookbook she got in the 70’s as a wedding present.

  33. Poorva says:

I love making Indian food. I don’t do it often, since it’s a gigantic pain to cook for one, but when you’re away from home, there’s no comfort food like the stuff you grew up with.

  34. Jane Drew says:

Anything as long as it’s delicious!

  35. Aliyah says:

I prefer to make easy things that I can’t burn. So cookies, brownies and my mother’s recipe for carrot cake.

  36. SALLY TAYLOR says:

I love making chocolate chip cookies. I have experimented with different extracts, nuts and chips but the best is still Nestle’s original recipe. Plus everybody loves them, even my friends with allergies. (I try not to let those friends eat them but sometimes you can’t stop someone when the craving is there.)

  37. Tam B. says:

I love to make scones, cookies and brownies and freeze all of them so I always have them on hand.

And, I don’t make it often but I have a great Nigella cheesecake recipe that is one that requires no baking. It’s all mixing and then in the fridge to set. It’s completely delicious.
