I’m not sure how I found this blog, but I became an instant fan. Have been subscribed for several years.
HaBO is one of my favorite features, but I love reading about any of the books: new releases, sales, older books, etc…
I can’t pick just one book – or just one author, for that matter. I love Sarah Addison Allen and Lisa Kleypas, thanks to SBTB.
I found so many authors through this site: Sherry Thomas, Courtney Milan and Loretta Chase are stand-outs. I just re-read Zoe Archer’s Compass of the Blades series, which I never would have found if not for Scoundrel being the book club choice one month several years ago!
Actually what I discovered wasn’t a book but an author and glomming! Never knew there was an actually word for devouring one authors books…..but for me it was Sarah Morgan. I haven’t gotten to the entire back list just yet, but I’m working on it!
I’ve discovered a lot of book from reviews and comments and HABOs on the site but what I am most grateful for is all of the suggestions you all gave me in this Rec League (http://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/2015/02/the-rec-league-characters-and-therapy/) back in February.
Thank you!
Bitter Spirits by Jenn Bennett
Sonali Dev’s A bollywood affair!
I don’t remember if it was an ad or a recommendation but I found The Rose and the Dagger when it was mentioned here. Immediately read it and am now anxiously waiting for the sequel (someone should have warned me that it was a cliff hanger…)
I’ve found many books through this site, but maybe my favorite being The Turncoat. It was brilliant.
Thank you!
There are lots of books I have read because of the Smart Bitches but the one that stands out for me is Kate Noble’s The Summer of You.
Zoe Archer! Thanks guys!
I’d never heard of Sherry Thomas before I subscribed to your newsletter, and she’s now one of my favorite authors! I think the latest I’ve read was His At Night
A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant. It’s not the best romance I from but I really liked it and it was my first real romance after a long time of sticking to SFF and mysteries.
Bet Me
Courtney Milan….um… basically anything, and I can’t even remember which one was first!
Y’all introduced me to Rose Lerner. I know, she’s written more than one book but… There have been several books that moved up on my wish list or tbr because of you ladies as well.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
Tessa Dare’s Spindle Cove series. I’m not a big historical romance reader, but the raves about this series impressed me and I took a chance 🙂 thanks for the awesome giveaway and fun event!
I loved Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith, which I learned about from your podcast. You hated, Jane loved it. It kept coming up, and I figured any book that was so controversial and memorable was worth taking a look at. Who knew lizard love could be so tender?
Courtney Milan and Julie James!
I’ve learned about so many wonderful (new to me) authors through the recommendations here! Writers like Molly O’Keefe, Shannon Stacey, and Sarah Morgan. I think I first heard about Rainbow Rowell here too. I’m always grateful for recommendations!
I discovered the FABULOUS Courtney Milan. That pin scene, amiright?
So many, but most recently it’s been The Year We Fell Down. Such a delightful change from the usual and my gateway into sport romances!
Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery…wonderful!
I think most recent for me was the Roaring 20s series by Jenn Bennet. Prohibition era + ghosts = win. First time in a long time that I anxiously waited for the next book in a series to drop. The first three are done but I’m hoping she will give us a few more.
And love the “Blame the Bitches” category on Good Reads that someone mentioned creating for their SB-recommended mountain of TBR books – excellent idea!
Lord of Scoundrels was the book that got me back into Romance after a long absence thanks to this site. Now Loretta Chase is a pre-order for me.
Smart bitches has introduced me to so many authors and sub-genres that I’ve never heard of before. Maya Banks, Ruthie Knox, and Nalini Singh are just a few of the authors I’ve picked up because of the site. My favorites are the ones that come with a catnip warning or a rating of WTF.
I’ve discovered so many books here – too many to list! But the most recent one was “Act Like It” by Lucy Parker, and even though it didn’t seem like the kind of thing I’d like, I gave it a try because the review was amazing – and so was the book!! Thank you for all the fantastic books you’ve introduced me to, Bitchery!
Chag Sameach, Happy Holidays, and many good new books for all! Thanks to SBTB for all the fun of these past 8 days 🙂
Mr. Impossible, definitely. Intellectual lady heroines are my catnip.
Strangely enough, not a romance – The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith is a book that I found through Smart Bitches that I would never have read otherwise. And that would have been a crying shame.
The Bollywood Affair just busted a reading slump for me. So different and fresh. Thanks Bitches.
I actually pretty much go to the “A” category of reviews here now anytime I want to pick up a new romance. I got so burned out on ones that I picked up randomly where I could read a couple chapters and get frustrated.
But the one that pops to mind immediately that I found from here was Maljean Brooks. I could get nit picky about some stuff in her books but overall they are soooo goood and I am so so so thankful to SB for helping me discover her!!
I emailed Elyse for recommendations after she talked about action romance, and she got me started on Elle Kennedy’s Killer Instincts series, which now drive me crazy because I read all of them so quickly and now I want stories for all of the secondary characters and they’re not coming out fast enough for me! (first world problems much?)
Dearest Rouge by Elizabeth Hoyt, the Stage Dive Series, Oh and A Bollywood Affair. So many more I could name.
Fridays child by Georgette Heyer discovered in a friends cottage I was staying at as a teen sent me on a hunt for all her books
This site got me hooked on Julia Quinn – now I need a special bookshelf for all her books. If only I could get my own Mallet of Death (though I would take Anthony Bridgerton in lieu.
OMG just saw there is a new Bridgerton coming in March (squees loudly).
It’s odd but one of the best recommendations I’ve seen on this site is The Gift of Fear. As a woman it really showed me to trust my instincts. Also all the Nora Roberts books lol
I’ve found sooo many authors here and wonderful books, but for some reason the one that springs to mind is “Miss Carlyle’s Curricle”. Also, I hardly ever watch TV so I never would have known about “Poldark” without you guys, which would have been a sad loss!
Act Like It! What a great book–I loved it.
I’m pretty sure it was from here that I “discovered” Julie James and her wonderful stories. I can’t quite remember which book it was I read a review of that triggered the fangirling since I read her works in the order they were published, but oh, boy, thank you. (That her books are going to be expensive from the next one dampens the enthusiasm, but that’s why I have my fingers crossed. Har.)
