I discovered Susanna Kearsley on this site—starting with the wondrous Winter Sea. I’ve since read all her books that are available in digital format. She is usually my go-to recommendation when people ask me what author I think they may like that is not so well-known….

  2. Amy Kathryn says:

The list of books that I have found via Smart Bitches is ridiculously long. I think the book I am most thankful of finding again was through one of my HABOs, about the guy who writes complex math equations on the heroine during sexy times (Getting Out of Hand by Erin Nicholas).

  3. k8899 says:

Courtney Milan – The Governess Affair

  4. fairywine says:

The Johannes Cabal books! One of my all time favs, and I never would have heard if not for this site.

  5. bookworm1990 says:

Dearest Rogue. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year. So many feels.

  6. ReneeG says:

I started reading historical romances thanks to this site – hadn’t read any for decades, and then I found you. I was muddling along when you suggested Courtney Milan’s Duchess War. That lead me to Loretta Chase, Tessa Dare, and so many more wonderful authors with so many great books and characters – and not one Barbara Cartland heroine within their pages. You also directed my Click finger to so many great contemporary authors and comic books!! You made me think about what wasn’t present in my reading choices – diversity being one such – and offered suggestions to remedy the lack. Even with an expanded book budget and an active library system, I have so many books on my list to explore thanks to you and the wonderful ladies and gents on this site who offer up their own recommendations and HABOs.

Happy Hanukkah!! And thank you for all the recommendations!

  7. Shel says:

I really got into Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

  8. Karen Lauterwasser says:

I found the site as the result of a knitting pattern, and have been hooked ever since. To mention just one book, I just loved “Neanderthal Seeks Human” by Penny Reid, and have since continued to be delighted by her other books.

This is a great thread to increase my TBR list!

  9. Terri says:

I have this website to thank for introducing me to so many books and authors. Perhaps my favorite find is Sarah Morgan.

  10. Tracy says:

Not just a book (The Duchess War) but an author (Courney Milan). Thanks!

  11. Ellie says:

Ruthie Knox… the really good one with bikes. And Loretta Chase, Julie James, Courtney Milan, Ilona Andrews, Jennifer Estep, Lisa Kleypas… OH! And let us not forget Dinosaur porn. 😉

  12. LauraL says:

First book I thought of that I found through SBTB and I loved was A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant which was my favorite holiday read last year and had me reading, and enjoying, many more of the author’s books over the past year.

  13. HL says:

    Oh so many, I can’t even…

Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, Theresa Romain, Jennifer McQuiston, Sarah MacLean, Tessa Dare, Zoe Archer, Eva Leigh, Sonali Dev, Courtney Milan, Kat Latham, Julia Quinn, and those are just the ones off the top of my head!

  14. Alyssa says:

I love Lauren Dane and started reading her because of the Opening Up review.

  15. Lisa says:

    I discovered Rainbow Rowell here!

  16. There are probably hundreds of books I ‘ve learned about from this website, but I am going with Nuts by Alice Clayton. Not only did it have me guffawing out loud almost every other page, the phrase “as you do” popped up so often that I wondered if she was one of the SB in disguise, or if the SB had read this book and adopted the phrase or if Alice is a member and adored the phrase so much she stuck in.

  17. Tam says:

Courtney Milan’s ‘Unraveled’, and then all the rest of Milan’s books. I don’t think I’d ever have encountered her if not for this blog.

  18. There are probably hundreds I could list, but I choose Nuts by Alice Clayton which I read recently. Not only did it have me LOL every other page, it was a tender, loving story. Also the phrase “as you do” popped up so frequently that I wondered at the author’s relationship to the Bitchery.

  19. KP says:

Courtney Milan. Somehow, I had managed to miss her books. Thank you for the introduction. (My budget does not thank you, by the way lol)

  20. So, so many books that I’ve discovered here. I’ve learned about many of my favorite authors by reading this sight. Julie James is probably one of the first I grabbed years ago.

  21. Timitra says:

    The Deal by Elle Kennedy!

  22. jules c. says:

Sarah Maclean. I would have never have picked up her books without the reviews here.

  23. Melanie says:

I’ve been coming here since 2008, so you’ve introduced me to many, many books and authors I love. Most recently, Elyse’s review of “Only A Kiss” by Mary Balogh made me run right out to find the book in paperback, read it, and then start the Survivors Club series from the beginning.

    Happy Hanukkah!

  24. Suzy daley says:

So many books so little time ! The butchery has introduced me to so many authors that I had never heard of such as Meljean Brooks and Lisa Klepas and Nalini Singh but if I had to name one ( who I think I was introduced through the podcast) it would be Kristen Ashley and what can I say….I love her I hate her…we make up.. We break up!
    Thanks team!

  25. Suzy daley says:

Bloody auto correct I meant the BITCHERY! Favourite books Brown Eyed Girl and Soaring

  26. Michelle says:

You introduced me to Sarah Morgan and Sarah Mayberry

  27. RJ says:

The Unsung Hero. I found this site when I first started reading romance and one of the first posts I read was the review for Unsung Hero. I absolutely love Suzanne Brockmann, and will be forever grateful for the Bitchery for introducing me to her.

  28. nicole says:

    The Rosie Effect

  29. Lauren says:

I discovered Courtney Milan, one of my favorite authors, through this site! Looking forward to reading through the comment thread to potentially find a future favorite!

  30. Lynnd says:

There are just so many of my favourite, auto-buy authors that I have discovered here. If I had to pick just one author (I can’t pick just one book :)), it would have to be Laura Kinsale.

  31. infinitieh says:

    Tessa Dare’s books.

  32. Chuk says:

I’ve found so many new authors through your books on sale posts including Kresley Cole, Sarina Bowen (love her Ivy years series so much), Tessa Dare, Courtney Milan, Rachel Bach and so many more. And i also discovered Saga by Brian Vaughn and the Lumberjanes. I love the different voices of the many ladies of the blog and thank you so much for all the recommendations! When you feel passionately about a book, comic, show, movie, it comes through loud and clear.

  33. SQ says:

    So many!!

I loved redheadedgirl’s review of The Navy SEAL’s E-mail Order Bride by Cora Seton. I was promised all the cheesiness the title implied, and that’s exactly what I got.

  34. Robin K. says:

I totally give thanks for Smart Bitches introducing me to Karen Marie Moning and her Fever Series. I seriously love those books. Have read the series multiple times and I am looking forward to the new book. I also heard about Anne Bishop and her Others series through SBTB. It’s funny since neither of these series are what I would call romances.

  35. Nabpaw says:

Julie ann long’s pennyroyal green series. I started with “What I did for a duke” and loved it so much I snapped up every other Pennyroyal green book.

  36. Michelle Madden says:

Well, the latest books that I loved SOOOOO MUCH was Kristin Callahan’s Game on Series. Amanda did a review of The Game Plan recently, so I bought all three in the series so far. LOVE!! I also loved Lilah Pace’s Asking For It and I know I have a much longer list than that, but those are two that stand out recently. Thanks for the chance to win. Happy Hanukkah!! Merry Christmas!!

  37. Chipmunk says:

This site is where I got all my first romance recs! I first dipped my toe in with The Duchess War….yes. so good.

  38. Pat3 says:

A friend turned me on to the Bitchery when I was looking for recs after a long hiatus from Romance. There have been so many great books. My absolute favorites are Mr. Impossible, Lord Scoundrel and Flowers From the Storm.

Also thanks to Elyse, I’m learning to knit.

  39. Kareni says:

I’ve made many wonderful book discoveries by reading your site. I’ll name a few ~ Thea Harrison, Jennifer Ashley, and Heidi Cullinan.

    Happy Hanukkah to you!

  40. Hera says:

Sarina Bowen, and from there way too much (from my wallet’s POV) of the NA genre. There are also things that I tried again after finding on here–I didn’t like Courtney Milan’s first book, so I gave up on her for a while, and then ended up reading her again because of a review on here, and now I’ve read them all, most of them at least twice, some three or four times, and I don’t usually reread things.

All the books. I love all the books.
