  • Madame X

    Madame X by Jasinda Wilder

RECOMMENDED: Madame X by Jasinda Wilder is $1.99 for a limited time. Amanda read this book and while it’s not quite a romance, she really enjoyed it. In her B+ review, she wrote:

Madame X isn’t going to be for everyone…. It’s written in first person. It does end on a cliffhanger. It deals with abuse (trigger warning) – physically, financially, and psychologically. There’s no HEA in this book as it’s an ongoing series following the same heroine. And there are also themes of infidelity.

But, if you’re still with me, it’s also one of the most unique books I’ve read in a while. It sucked me in and broke my heart. The next book cannot come soon enough.

Madame X invites you to test the limits of control in this provocative new
novel from New York Times bestselling author Jasinda Wilder.

    My name is Madame X.
I’m the best at what I do.
And you’d do well to follow my rules…

Hired to transform the uncultured, inept sons of the wealthy and powerful into decisive, confident men, Madame X is a master of the art of control. With a single glance she can cut you down to nothing, or make you feel like a king.

But there is only one man who can claim her body—and her soul.

Undone time and again by his exquisite dominance, X craves and fears his desire in equal measure. And while she longs for a different path, X has never known anything or anyone else—until now…

  • In Your Corner

In Your Corner by Sarah Castille

In Your Corner by Sarah Castille is $2.99 right now. This is an erotic contemporary with a hero who is a mixed martial arts champion. It was picked as one of Amazon’s Best Romance Books of the Year in 2014, and was also a PW Best Summer Read. It has a 4+ star average on GR, and readers who liked it enjoyed the “second chance after a bad breakup” story, and the very, very alpha hero.

“You have to go. I won’t be able to control myself. I’ve wanted you so bad for so long and after I’ve been in the cage…I can’t think straight.” He gives a guttural groan and his fist clenches on my hip.

Primitive. Primal. His need speaks to me. I tighten my grip on his neck and rock up to kiss him. He takes over. His kiss is hard and demanding.

“Mine.” His voice is raw, savage and for a moment I truly believe he may lose control.

    He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn’t dull the pain of Amanda’s rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn’t found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help…

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda’s not sure if she can stay in control, or if she’s finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

  • Jill Mansell Boxed Set

Jill Mansell Boxed Set by Jill Mansell

RECOMMENDED: The Jill Mansell Boxed Set is $3.03 at Amazon, and $3.99 at other retailers. This is a three-book set of some of Mansell’s most popular titles: Staying at Daisy’s, An Offer You Can’t Refuse,  and Millie’s Fling. I gave Millie’s Fling a B, and wrote:

Millie’s Fling was recommended by several readers in past discussions as one of the most charming of Mansells…. So comfort reading time began. And oh, the comfort. Like sinking into the softest warmest cushions with blankets and snacks and absolutely no reason to keep track of what time it was, plus fuzzy slippers. I very much enjoyed myself.

    An Offer You Can’t Refuse

What’s a girl to do with… An offer you can’t refuse?

Nothing could tear Lola and Dougie apart, except his mother… Seventeen-year-old Lola has no intention of accepting when her boyfriend’s snobbish mother offers her a huge bribe to break up with him. Then Lola discovers a secret that makes her think again, and the only way she can help one of the people she loves most in the world is to take the money and break Dougie’s heart.

Ten years later, when Lola meets Dougie again, her feelings for him are as strong as ever. She’ll do almost anything to get him back, but she can never tell him the truth. Can she overcome his bitterness and win his heart? She’s attractive, persuasive, and endlessly optimistic, but even Lola’s got her work cut out for her this time.

    Millie’s Fling

When Millie saves bestselling novelist Orla Hart’s life and loses her boyfriend in the process, one wonders if the rest of the book can be as entertaining and eventful as this dramatic opening but for Millie Brady the fun has only just begun

Millie decides that a man-free summer is just what she needs but Orla, who wants Millie to be the heroine of her next novel, is determined to find her the man of her dreams. As far as Millie is concerned, the only man worth thinking about is Hugh Emerson but for Hugh, whose wife tragically died in a horse-riding accident, “dating is not on the agenda”. Millie’s determination not to fall in love with the young widower forms the centrepiece of the novel but Jill Mansell also delves into the shenanigans of Millie’s best friend Hester and her eventful love life; Orla and her cheating husband; Millie’s man-eating mother; and the leather-clad, sex-mad Lucas Kemp who runs a kiss-a-gram service.

    Staying at Daisy’s

If you’re looking for a hotel where anything can happen, try staying at Daisy’s…

Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who’s about to get married there, she isn’t worried at all – her friend Tara absolutely promises there won’t be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn’t seen for years. But Daisy should be worried. Dominic has other ideas. And seeing Tara again sets in motion a chaotic train of events with far-reaching consequences for all concerned.

While Daisy spends the ensuing months doing battle with Dev Tyzack (Dominic’s so-called best man), Tara battles with her conscience. Meanwhile, Hector’s getting up to all sorts with…well, that’s the village’s best kept secret. And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy’s been doing her best to forget. That’s the thing about hotels, you never know who you’re going to meet. Or whether they’re going to stay…

  • The Rosie’s Bakery All-Butter, Cream-Filled, Sugar-Packed Baking Book

The Rosie’s Bakery All-Butter, Cream-Filled, Sugar-Packed Baking Book by Judy Rosenberg

The Rosie’s Bakery All-Butter, Cream-Filled, Sugar-Packed Baking Book by Judy Rosenberg is $2.99 on sale. This baking cookbook has been on sale before, and Bitchery regulars KKW and DonnaMarie both recommend it highly, saying the recipes are straightforward, delicious, and worth repeating.

When the book was on sale in 2013, Laura Xixi tweeted at me that she hopes the book includes their “Chocolate Orgasm” brownies recipe, which appears on store receipts as “orgasms.” Indeed it does, which means this book has $3.00 orgasms. CHOCOLATE ones! Happy holidays indeed!

Throw moderation out the window. When you want that real homemade flavor, from-scratch frosted layer cakes, brownies that taste like brownies, and cookies that taste like the ones your grandma used to make, only real ingredients will do: real butter, real cream, real chocolate, and lots of it. That’s how Rosie’s has been baking its award-winning treats for over thirty years, and why the Rosie’s Bakery All-Butter, Fresh Cream, Sugar-Packed, No-Holds-Barred Baking Book won an IACP/Julia Child Cookbook Award. Now, that book and the follow-up—Rosie’s Bakery Chocolate-Packed, Jam-Filled, Butter-Rich, No-Holds-Barred Cookie Book—are back, updated, revised, and combined into one super recipe collection.

Packed with more than 300 irresistible recipes—more than 40 never before published—from Judy Rosenberg, owner of Rosie’s Bakery, the famous chain of New England bake shops that has won numerous Best of Boston awards, The Rosie’s Bakery All-Butter, Cream-Filled, Sugar-Packed Baking Book is for holidays, birthdays, pick-me-ups, the cookie jar, bake sales—when only genuine homemade goodness will do.

Fabulous cakes and cupcakes: Lemon Coconut Layer Cake, Velvet Underground Cake, Chocolate Custard Sponge Roll, Sour Cherry Fudge Cake, Coconut Pecan Oatmeal Cake, Maya’s Little Butter Cupcakes, and Coconut Fluff Babycakes. Delectable cookies and bars: Pecan Crunchies, Fresh Ginger Crisps, Dagwoods, Honeypots, Noah Bedoahs. Plus the unspeakably delicious Chocolate Orgasms, and more.

Sweet Disorder by Rose Lerner is currently $0.99!

  2. PamG says:

I enjoy Mansell and liked both Staying at Daisy’s and Millie’s Fling, but An Offer You Can’t Refuse is highly refuseable. It’s my least favorite of all her books. Didn’t like the premise and didn’t like the characters–especially the heroine. Still a bargain at 3 bucks, but still. . . .

  3. DonnaMarie says:

And I still wholeheartedly recommend the Rosie’s Bakery book. I sold the hell out of it when I worked at the kitchen store low those many years ago. It is fabulous.

  4. Susan says:

I already own 2 of the 3 Mansell books in the set, but it was cheaper to rebuy the whole thing at $3.03 than pay the $9.99 list price for the single book. (I did the same thing w/ the Kleypas set the other day, when I already owned 3 of the 5–and had given away all my paper copies.) See, I was really *saving* money!

  5. Virginia E says:

The ARE link for the Rosie’s cookbook goes to a full-priced copy ($15.95 as opposed to $2.99. Click the link for other books by Julie Rosenberg to get the link for the $2.99 copy. Please note that it’s only for DRM protected Epub format.

  6. Miss Louisa says:

Hello, have you seen that nook now does a romance daily find in addition to the other daily find they do? I spent way too much the other day with their new romances under $2.99 section.

  7. SB Sarah says:

    @Virginia:

    Oops – thank you! Fixed!

  8. Joanna says:

@Kate. The sequel True Pretenses is also $.99. I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale!

  9. morganlefake says:

    Loved Madame X, but I screamed a Khan-like scream when I realized that it’s a cliffhanger.
