The Madness of Lord Westfall

The Madness of Lord Westfall by Mia Marlowe is $3.99! This is the second book in The Order of the MUSE series, which is a mix of historical and paranormal. The other two books are $3.99 as well! Elyse picked this one in our September Hide Your Wallet post:
I’m not a huge fan of straight paranormal, but when you combine it with historical, it’s all my catnip. The hero was previously committed to Bedlam for hearing voices, but it turns out this is a “gift” and earns him a place in the The Order of the MUSE where he teams up with the heroine to save the crown.
Pierce Langdon, Viscount Westfall is mad. Everyone knows it. He fell from a tree when he was a boy and woke to hear strange voices. When the voices grow stronger as he grows older, his family commits him to Bedlam. But what he hears are the thoughts of those around him—a gift to be used in service to the Order of the M.U.S.E. Until he falls again…this time for a totally unsuitable woman.
Lady Nora Claremont hides her heartbreak behind the facade of a carefree courtesan. Viscount Westfall is the most confusing man she’s ever met. He seems to know exactly what she wants…and what she’s thinking.
Which is a dangerous thing, because what Nora wants is Pierce.
And what she’s thinking could expose her as a traitor to the crown.

The Devilish Mr. Danvers by Vivienne Lorret is 99c! This book has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads and features an enemies to lovers type plot. Many readers loved the “black sheep” heroine, while others had trouble connecting with her. If you’re looking to stock up on some Lorret historical romances, now’s the time. A majority of her backlist is $1.99 per book!
For the first time in her life, Hedley Sinclair holds the keys to her own future. She’s inherited the crumbling Greyson Park, but the disrepair does nothing to dissuade her. No one will ever lock her up again or attempt to take away what’s hers. No one except Rafe Danvers—the charming, fiendish man from Fallow Hall. He’s determined to claim Greyson Park, but if Hedley isn’t careful, he’ll claim her heart as well.
Rafe has every intention of ridding Greyson Park of the conniving Sinclairs once and for all. The last thing he expects is to find the beguiling Hedley—the younger sister of his former fiancée—standing in his way. With drastic measures called for, he plans to marry her off in order to regain control of the estate. The only trouble is, he can’t seem to stop seducing her. Even worse, he can’t help falling in love with her.

A Groom of One’s Own by Maya Rodale is $1.99! This is also the first book in her Writing Girls series. This historical romance does feature a heroine who pursues a man who is already engaged, which many readers didn’t like. However, many loved the dialogue, especially if you’re familiar with Rodale’s writing. Have you read this one?
Miss Harlow’s marriage in high life
London, 1823
A handsome duke. His beautiful soon-to-be duchess. A whirlwind courtship. It is this author’s privilege to report on the event all of London is talking about: the upcoming wedding of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon to the only daughter of the Duke of Richmond. Every detail of the “Wedding of the Year” will be reported in these pages as a London Weekly exclusive.
But I, Miss Sophie Harlow, must confess to a secret infatuation with this “double duke” that can only lead to trouble. It is impossible that this notoriously upstanding gentleman would ever jilt his bride for a scandalous female newspaper writer. And yet . . . the arrival of a foreign prince, the discovery of a shocking secret, and one passionate kiss could change everything. Will this perfect duke risk the scandal of the year to marry the woman his heart desires?

Upon a Midnight Dream by Rachel Van Dyken is FREE! This is a fairy tale retelling based on Sleeping Beauty. The books in the rest of her London Fairy Tale series are 99c each! Readers on Goodreads mention that the book took a while to get into, but they also recommend it for anyone who loves different takes on well known fairy tales. It has a 3.6-star rating on Goodreads.
A Regency retelling of Sleeping Beauty…
“I release you…” were the last words Rosalind remembered before her world went black. Stefan, the future duke of Montmouth, no doubt thought his words were welcomed but he couldn’t have been more wrong. Oh, he was handsome as a pagan Norse god, but that was unimportant when her life as well as those of her family hung in the balance.
With less than six weeks left, Rosalind has stopped believing in the fairy tale, the prince on the white horse, and the stolen kiss that would awaken her from her worst nightmares. Resigned to her fate, she waits for the inevitable curse to run it’s course.
“We must marry at once!” Stefan declared, fully expecting Rosalind to be delighted that he had come to save her, but he was sorely mistaken. Rosalind was no simpering docile female; she was a fiery temptress with a stubborn streak only matched by his horse, Samson. Insulting, infuriating, intoxicating and alluring enough to drive a man mad. Stefan found himself thankful for the curse that required him marry her, thankful for the betrothal contract he had so recently tried to release her from…With the fortitude of a sailor shipwrecked, abandoned, and a solider warring for his life Stefan decides to lay siege to the greatest prize, Rosalind’s heart.

Just picked up “The Madness of Lord Westfall” and “Upon a Midnight Dream”. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I am interested in Upon a Midnight Dream, but concerned about the fiery, passionate heroine favourably being compared to the hero’s prized horsie. It is a conundrum.
When I read the heroine’s name in “The Devilish Mr. Danvers”, all I could think of was “It’s Hedley” from Blazing Saddles.
Looks like the price on the Anker charger has already gone up by about $7. But I can also recommend the 6-port Photiv charger which sells in the $20-22 range on Amazon. I have one at home at one at the office (and have even been known to take one with me when visiting).
Not even “free” is enough to tempt me to read another Van Dyken book. I read one of her contemporaries based on a recommendation and absolutely loathed everything about it: characters, plot, writing style, editing or lack thereof, locale (which was Hawaii- she made HAWAII sound boring!) And she must also write her own blurbs because I cannot make any sense out of the description for “Upon a Midnight Dream” above. No thanks!
My Ankur charging cables have had dismal lifespans. We bought a 6 pack and charging hub in March and 2 cables have crapped out already.
“The Devilish Mr. Danvers” is up there with my favorite books of the year. I love when a hero becomes totally unhinged over the heroine.
The Spanish version of Courtney Milan’s “The Governess Affair” has been FREE on Google Play. It’s my favorite “how to make asking for consent super sexy” book and an all-around good (funny, sweet) read.
