This HaBO request comes from Mala, who wants to find a historical romance:
Soooo, I remember this: she is some kind of princess/daughter of a clan leader or something similar.
The hero is some kind of warlord, chief, king, etc. I think her father/uncle is sending her as a gift to hero. She thinks she will be a concubine, but he makes her his wife instead. And yes, there is some kind of misunderstanding – she thinks that he is cruel and a killer (spoiler: he is not).
I just remember that she is wearing a transparent dress when she is presented to the hero as a gift. It is not The Golden Dynasty or Warprize. But I think it is fantasy romance.
I know there are quite a few romances with this plot, but maybe the transparent dress thing will help narrow it down!

Sounds like Elizabeth Vaughn’s fantasy-romance “Warprize”. Which I loved, btw, it and several of the sequels/companion novels. He’s Keir, she’s Xylara.
Oh shoot, just saw your comment that it’s NOT “Warprize”. Sorry, please disregard!
Sounds really Barbara Cartland-esque. There are a couple reeeeally dubious ones out there it could be.
Are you certain it’s not Warprize? I read it recently and your scenario matches it precisely.
No, it is not B.Cartland or E.Vaughn, I think the author is new(er).
I know the plot is similar, but it is not Warprize either.Sorry for delayed answer, there is time difference between Europe and USA:)
She is also virgin… and I think he is warrior-like , he has sword of a kind(?).
Going crazy here…
The more I think about it, it pulls me toward fantasy romance novel.
I have searched through all lists , I just can not find it..
I think it’s Seductress of Caralon by Lacey Alexander
Nope, not Seductress of Caralon. It was longer, and not quite erotica, even there were few steamy scenes.
It’s a common scenario–the plot reminds me of Game of Thrones (the first book, A Song of Ice and Fire) with Daenerys Targaryen’s brother marrying her off to the Dothraki chief.
Yes, it is common scenario, that one is really popular , so it is not unusual to lose this kind of a novel in a sea of similar ones.
I don’t have a helpful suggestion, but now I want to know what this is so I can read it. Two words: transparent dress.
Similar to an Anne Stuart I read, High Sheriff of Huntingdon, but not exactly. It was good though.
Could it be Highland Velvet by Jude Devereaux? It’s been years but I seem to remember a transparent shift and knee-pits as erogenous zones.
No, sorry to say , its not Highland Velvet. It is similar to Golden dynasty in maaaaany ways 🙂 There is really great influence from Kristen Ashley in writing style, even the plot .
Knee-pit!?
Of course knee-pit!
How is it possible I have never heard or read this word before?
I’ve been back and forth to this page soooo many times today because I need to read this book! It does sound very much like Warprize and I loved that book/ series. Hope you find it!
Me too, I am constantly looking at this page to see if anybody recognizes this book:)
Come on, people. Come on! 🙂
Yeah, Imma need to know this book too.
It sounds like Bertrice Small.
This link at Amazon seems to offer a few possible titles
http://www.amazon.com/forum/romance?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=FxM42D5QN2YZ1D&cdThread=TxZNJTMJUNF2O4
Hope is one of them. I don’t know where to start. Good luck.
Thanks,I will take a look.Hey,Merry Christmas everybody, its already Christmas here!
It is The Chief by Monica McCarty?
No,but I loved that one.
I’m still hoping that someone knows this *sigh*
Is it Lord of Danger by Anne Stuart? The hero is the court “wizard” though not a real Lord.
Nope.
Mala, Do you know when you read this? As a way of narrowing down, because I have made it my mission to find this.
There’s a transparent/diamond dress that plays a role in Kushiel’s Dart, but that’s not quite right here.
Sorry, here I am , finally.I have read it maybe two years ago…so it is not an old book. This is driving me crazy, I went through all lists ( thanks MMVZ), on Amazon and Goodreads, and still could not find it.
There are a lot of books with similar plot, so I hope that I did not accidentally overlooked it.
