Friday Videos Like It Here

So this song is making my days this week, which is weird because it seems to be on the radio constantly, and I don’t listen to the radio that often. Yet, I hear it at least once a day, and each time it’s all good.

Alessia Cara’s Here is like the introvert’s party anthem, and I have had this exact feeling a million times in my life. Alessia Cara is a 19-year-old Canadian songwriter, and seriously, I dig this song like whoa.

This is the lyric video, which shows all the words (duh):

I don’t know that I love the song, exactly, but I have been enjoying the heck out of the mash-ups of Uptown Funk with dance scenes from movies of the 1940s (which includes great clips of the amazing Nicolas Brothers) and a mash-up of dance scenes from 100 different movies. I found some of the clips in the mash-up of 100 to be quite funny.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Lord of the Lost lately, specifically their Swan Song album.

I’ve had the song “74 Willow” by Ednaswap stuck in my head for like a week now.

I have Chelsea Blakemore by South African pop band Beatenberg on repeat right now. It is the classic heartbreak/pining song over a feel good beat. Plus I can’t decide if the video is genius or aweful!

    @LML, YES!!!

I love Lauren Dane and the sexy pop-up soundtrack suggestions she puts in her books, so when she mentioned Trixie Whitley’s Undress Your Name it started me on my new aural addiction. Today had been all about Breath You in My Dreams

  6. After binging on Florence + The Machine’s “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” album, I’m now obsessively listening to The Maccabees’ “Marks to Prove It” album (especially love the track “Spit It Out”). I love the way the single release videos transition from one song to the next (as they did for Florence). I’m also suffering from an intense crush on lead singer Orlando Weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70Zr8Ri5iCE

So RHG was watching Sunday Morning on Sunday moring, too. I clicked on their site after the piece and wow, that Fight Song video has been shown to just about everyone I know. The Piano Guys are my new addiction.

  8. Kelly S. says:

Thank you for the Here song! It truly is an introvert’s anthem! I really appreciated the lyrics.

This time of year I’m rocking to Relianr K’s Christmas album, Let it Snow Baby…Let it Reindeer. Especially the their version of the 12 Days of Christmas

  9. LF says:

Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean?

Yes, yes. I know everyone’s suppose to hate him, but his latest songs are pretty catchy.

Also, I like the song’s lyric video better than the official vid.

    Thanks for the Here video!

  11. Winter, Various Artists record label PIAS, http://www.deezer.com/album/11710670

This is my latest writing/marking/walking album.

Otherwise, it’s my own personal Christmas playlist, Pink Martini to Slade and covering many other bases in between..

  12. I’ve been listening to a lot of Christmas music lately and one of the songs I’m loving is a cover of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” by the Whirling Dervishes. I’ve never heard of them before, but this version is so good.

Also, for the last few months I’ve fallen in love with Laura Pausini’s “Invece No,” which is an Italian song that I first heard back in March. I speak some Italian because I took a combined four years of it in high school and college and I started listening to more Italian music to improve my pronunciation. It is such a pretty song and Pausini’s voice is awesome.
