  • Scotsman of My Dreams

Scotsman of My Dreams by Karen Ranney

Scotsman of My Dreams by Karen Ranney is 99c! This historical romance features an injured hero and a heroine who is supposed to be off limits to him. Readers loved the heroine and her badassery – she’s busting into the hero’s home and climbing garden walls. However, others said they just couldn’t seem to get into this one. Have you read it?

In New York Times bestselling author Karen Ranney’s second novel in her breathtaking series, an unconventional woman and a former scoundrel embark on a daring mission of desire

Once the ton’s most notorious rake, Dalton MacIain has returned from his expedition to America during the Civil War— wounded and a changed man. Instead of returning to his old haunts, he now spends his time at home. But Dalton’s peace is disturbed when Minerva Todd barges into his London townhouse, insisting he help search for her missing brother Neville. Though Dalton would love to spend more time with the bewitching beauty, he has no interest in finding Neville, whom he blames for his injury.

Minerva has never met a more infuriating man than the Earl of Rathsmere, yet she is intrigued by the torrid rumors she has heard about him . . . and the fierce attraction pulling her toward him.

Dalton does not count on Minerva’s persistence, or the desire she awakens in him, compelling him to discover her brother’s fate. But when danger surrounds them, Dalton fears he will lose the tantalizing, thoroughly unpredictable woman he has come to love.

  • Trailer Park Fae

Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow

Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow is $1.99! This is an urban fantasy book where the hero, who’s half fae, must return home to sort out some issues. Many complaints come from the fact that readers were expecting a certain story: a fun, ass-kicking urban fantasy adventured. However, it turned out to be rather dark. Have you read this one?

New York Times bestselling author Lilith Saintcrow returns to dark fantasy with a new series where the fairy world inhabits diners, dive bars and trailer parks.

Jeremy Gallow is just another construction worker, and that’s the way he likes it. He’s left his past behind, but some things cannot be erased. Like the tattoos on his arms that transform into a weapon, or that he was once closer to the Queen of Summer than any half-human should be. Now the half-sidhe all in Summer once feared is dragged back into the world of enchantment, danger, and fickle fae – by a woman who looks uncannily like his dead wife. Her name is Robin, and her secrets are more than enough to get them both killed. A plague has come, the fullborn-fae are dying, and the dark answer to Summer’s Court is breaking loose.

Be afraid, for Unwinter is riding…

  • Unwrapping Her Perfect Match

Unwrapping Her Perfect Match by Kat Latham

Unwrapping Her Perfect Match by Kat Latham is FREE! This is a holiday novella and made it two rounds in the 2015 DABWAHA Tournament! The hero is a single father rugby player who’s always had a thing for the heroine. Readers definitely recommend this for a great Christmas read. However, others weren’t a fan of the hero until the very end. Any Kat Latham fans out there?

’Twas a week before Christmas, and at the auction house…

At six foot one, Gwen Chambers has felt like a giant her whole life. She’s a calm, capable nurse saving lives in a busy London hospital, but healthy men give her heart palpitations. When larger-than-life rugby player “Little” John Sheldon convinces her to bid on him in his team’s fundraising auction, she discovers how pleasurable heart palpitations can be.

A rugby player was stirring, with desire no one could douse…

John has wanted Gwen since he first saw her, but when he’s injured in a match just before Christmas he suddenly needs her too. Not only can the sexy nurse help him recover, but she might be able to help him look after his daughter—a shy ten-year-old who speaks only French.

But will it be a Happy Christmas for all, and for all a good night?
From decorating the Christmas tree to ice skating at the Tower of London, Gwen helps father and daughter open up and bond with each other—and she bonds right along with them. But when John’s agent calls with a life-changing offer, Gwen has to decide how far she’s willing to go for her perfect match. Will their first Noël also be their last?

  1. I love love LOVED Trailer Park Fae, but the title, the cover art, and the blurb do not match the story. It is very much a Pamela Dean or Emma Bull sort of story, and not at all what the marketing team decided to put together. Which is maddening, because it would absolutely sell if the right people knew about it, but those who like War for the Oaks or Dean’s Tam Lin will likely be turned off by the cover and title, while those wanting something along the lines of the Incryptid or White Trash Zombie books will not enjoy this one.

That being said, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL.

  2. Dana says:

@Floating Lush: I LOVE Emma Bull, and you have totally just convinced me to buy it!

  3. Em says:

Trailer Park Fae is amazing! I’ve been a fan of Saintcrow for a while now and this is a return to form I can tell you. (I wasn’t that fond of The Bannon and Clare Series tbh)

  4. Darlynne says:

@Floating Lush: Emma Bull? Emma Bull? Good heavens, where do I click? And thank you.

  5. Storyphile says:

I like Lilith Saintcrow anyway, but since I also enjoy Emma Bull and Seanan McGuire it’s great to know exactly what I’m in for with Trailer Park Fae! Thanks for the heads up Floating Lush! SOLD

  6. Yodamom says:

Kat Latham/s London Legends series is one of my favorites. I am so excited to have the perfect holiday read. Thanks for posting this I might have missed it in all the rush of the season

  7. Tam says:

Oh goodness, Dean’s ‘Tam Lin’ is one of my favourites, but I would NOT have picked up ‘Trailer Park Fae’. (Thanks, misleading cover art!) Clicking now!

  8. Sophydc says:

@Floating Lush, you had me at Emma Bull. Thank you 🙂 War for the Oaks is an all time favorite.

  9. Kate K.F. says:

@FloatingLush Now you have me curious because I love Dean and Bull but also enjoy McGuire. Saintcrow’s one of those authors that I’ve been curious about and this looks like a good place to start.

  10. cbackson says:

I had to stop reading Lilith Saintcrow, because after a while I started feeling like I just couldn’t *not* see the author’s own personal issues all over the books. It sort of felt like “men are essentially untrustworthy” was a core theme in every book, and there was an emotional rawness associated with it that took it beyond simple authorial choice. I had attributing stuff like that to the author’s own issues – that’s often an insulting position – but something about it felt different to me in her books, perhaps because her heroines often read as authorial surrogates to me (based in part on reading her blog as well, I’ll admit). Her books are compelling, but I started feeling like I was sitting in on a therapy session.

That said, I mainlined basically her entire backlist in a matter of weeks, so that might have maginified the effect. And I did not feel that way about The Hedgewitch Queen (although I skipped the sequel when it looked like it was headed in a similar thematic direction).

  11. Maura says:

Well good, I love Emma Bull. *clicks*

  12. KarenF says:

You’re right, that cover would never have gotten me for Trailer Park Fae, but comparison to Dean’s “Tam Lin” absolutely will. *click*

  13. Ele says:

Yep, me too. I was going to pass on the Trailer Park Fae until Emma Bull was mentioned. War for the Oaks is way up there on my list.

  14. ClaireC says:

Hm, I’ve looked at Trailer Park Fae before and the cover and blurb certainly said “fun urban fantasy” to me – or at least, something similar to McGuire’s October Daye series. Interesting, but maybe not something to read right away.

I do love me some War For The Oaks, though, so maybe I’ll have to move this up the TBR list! I did read the novella in the Bannon & Clare series but didn’t really love it, so this will be a borrow from the library for me.

  15. Carol says:

Laurenston’s Mane Attraction is fabulous: highly recommended! But Bear Meets Girls is only $3.03 at Amazon US (http://smile.amazon.com/Bear-Meets-Girl-Pride-Series-ebook — hope this will get you there, but you’ll have to copy it). This book almost killed me; I laughed so hard for so long. I still remember the agony fondly — and it was awhile ago.

  16. Carol says:

Sorry. It doesn’t work at all. But it’s easy enough to get there from the link for Mane Attraction. Really! Enjoy!

  17. Leah says:

Tailer Park Fae was available for a free download from my library. Yoink!

I really do recommend the Mane Attraction. I’m not typically into shifter books (I’m not NOT into them either, they just don’t hit any specific interest buttons for me), but the writing in this is SO much fun the pages just fly by. The extra subplots feel like they’re crammed in there as afterthoughts, and there are some familiar tropes, but the dialogue is snappy and the relationships fun. Absolutely pick it up if you’re looking for something to make you grin.

  18. Carol says:

Just discovered that Shelley Laurenston’s The Unleashing is on sale at Amazon US for $2.99. This is the first book in her new series (Call of Crows) and it looks to be as good as the Pride series. I was skeptical, but as soon as the price dropped out of the stratosphere I went for it. And it’s terrific!! Once again she has created a world and an ensemble of characters that live up to the expectations created by the Pride series. The world is real and the characters are crazy and kick-ass and things are both serious and funny as hell.
