The Rogue Not Taken: An Early WORD Giveaway!

The Rogue Not Taken

You might have seen Elyse’s very joyful review of the upcoming Sarah MacLean novel, The Rogue Not Taken today:

Let me start by saying that The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean is my favorite book of hers to date. If you’ve read her, or know me, then you know that I just said a thing.

I mean, there is a scene in this book where the hero sensually rubs honey on the heroine’s body while she dreamily describes the bookstore she’ll own one day.

Damn.

Usually we run reviews on or after release date so that if you think to yourself, I want to read that NOW, you can go and buy it.

However, The Rogue Not Taken doesn’t come out until 29 December, which may have led you to think, WTF Bitches?! Did you not hear me?! I want to read that NOW!

Fear not! We have a giveaway – an Early WORD Giveaway, in fact!

I have five bound manuscript copies of The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean to give away. This is so early, it’s a bound manuscript, not a galley. Cool, huh? Five SUPER EARLY style books!

WORD BrooklynPLUS! I have a grand prize, in addition to one of the five bound manuscripts: A $75 gift card to WORD Brooklynwhich is MacLean’s local independent bookstore and an enthusiastic supporter of the romance genre – which as we all know can sometimes be a challenge to find in indie-bookstore-land. WORD will ship if you’re not in Brooklyn, so if you win, you can order your books and they’ll have them delivered to you.

In fact, WORD is also taking pre-orders for The Rogue Not Taken, so if you’re totally taken with the book after you read it (I know, you saw what I did there), you could potentially order a copy as a gift for someone who would be equally taken with it. (Ok, I’ll stop.)

So, want to enter? Sure! Just leave a comment below and tell us, if you would be gifting Rogues hither and yon, to whom would you send a Rogue? And if you have no recipients suitable for Rogue gifting, please feel free to tell us what book you’d buy for yourself!

Standard disclaimers apply:  void where prohibited. I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Open to residents of US and Canada (sorry, y’all!) where permitted by applicable law. Must be over 18 and prepared to read and shop and read some more to win. Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear, especially if you are farsighted. Whereas, upon participation in the contest as aforesaid, said participant shall nonetheless deliver hereunto all such paraphernalia as reasonably necessary and appropriate. Winners will be chosen by random integer on Friday, 13 November, and announced same day. Thank you to Avon for the prizes!

Good luck!

  1. Rose K says:

I was *literally* mid-holiday shopping when I took a quick Twitter break and stumbled upon this greatness. My shopping cart is already loaded up with my favorite rogues to gift upon my friends. I plan to have my best friends hooked on Romancelandia by New Year’s.

  2. MeghanM says:

I would give a Rogue to my best friend and my romance genre partner-in-crime. There is no greater joy than a best friend who understands and gleefully replies to my middle of the night, can’t stop reading this romance book even though I should be asleep texts.

  3. Colleen Moore says:

I would love to gift a copy of this to my mother. She just came out to visit me and help wrangle my three darling daughters for an entire month and burned through my copies of Sarah’s Rule of Scoundrels series. I almost screamed when I saw she had picked up No Good Duke FIRST! Needless to say I saved her and started her at the beginning. She’s a firm fan now! This would be such an amazing surprise before Christmas.

  4. Brandi B says:

Yes, I would gift copies to fellow book lovers Shawn and Jacqueline. Shawn and Jacqueline are big historical romance fans.

  5. Nam says:

I’d gift a Rogue to my work library! It needs more rogues along side all the corporate leaders.

  6. Emily says:

I would gift Sarah’s Rouge to my bestie so we could swoon over him together!

  7. Patsy says:

Hmmm…I’d definitely give it to my best friend’s mother-in-law who has previously dismissed romance, but is now a bit more open thanks so my vociferous defense thereof. Also to my therapist, who definitely thought, and may still think, that my pickiness in dating might be related to my romance reading.

  8. Katie Lynn says:

Whether it be a real rogue or just one within the pages of a book, they’d end up with the same person. My constant partner in crime (and books), Amy.

  9. Oshoveli says:

I would send one to my sister cos she could do with a little rogue in her life!

  10. Alex says:

Would probably give Rough Not Taken to my Mom, she and I have very similar taste in books. So if I like it, odds are she would too.

  11. Cassandra B. says:

Seems like a good book! I would gift to myself (none of my close friends read romance). And I gift books to myself all the time 🙂 Next up is the newest Dragon Kin book by G.A. Aiken.

  12. Ayesha says:

None of my uptight friends read historical fiction, that is enough of a reason to Unfriend them. All they read is mind improving (that is mind numbing) self improvement books (reminds me of that scene from Bridget Jones). As I live in Canada I would happily re-gift the gift card to another fan of this wonderful bastion of bitches, that is Smart bitches. Have to say love Sarah’s books and really looking forward to her book and Loretta Chase’s new release.

  13. Kimberly B. says:

I would give a Rogue to my best friend, as she is partial to both rogues and the Regency era. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  14. SandyH says:

I would give a copy to one of my best friends of 45 years. We are college friends. Yep old ladies read romance.

  15. EB says:

I would give a copy to my friend who only reads contemporary romances. I want her to read what she has been missing. Then I would be greedy & use the rest for myself. Kristin Higgins, Jodi Thomas, Charles Todd, all those Tasha Alexander books I missed buying because I was buying Lauren Willig’s Pink Carnation series.

  16. RamenGrrl says:

I’d give one to my best friend because ONE DAY she will read a historical and fall in love with them just as I have.

  17. Virginia E says:

I’m woefully short on people who share my tastes in books. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t give away my books and I’m reluctant to share my copies. If I offered to share a copy, they’d assume I was trying to get rid of a clunker and decline.
Now, as to what I’d buy with the gift card, that would require some careful thought if I survive the wild glee of having that much money that I could only spend on books. The mere thought brings a silly grin to my face.

  18. Moriah says:

    My best friend

  19. LauraL says:

I’d send a rogue to my sister-in-law. She has been playing it safe all her life and a rogue would fun up her retirement years.

  20. Ashley says:

I would give a copy of rogue to the girls in my book club who first put me on to Maclean’s books–Ania and Alex!

  21. Sarah says:

I definitely share some Rogues with the ladies I work with. We teach middle school, and I know we could ALL use a little bit more Rogue in our lives. ☺️

  22. Bree says:

I would gift a Rogue to my cousin. She loves a good Rogue.

  23. Linda says:

I would totally gift these to MYSELF!

  24. BeckyM. says:

:whispers: I would send the rogue to me, me, me.

  25. Regina says:

I would give a book about rogues to my mom, but keep a real one for myself. Sorry, Mom!

  26. Lily says:

I think I’d gift to my sister! Of course, after I got it, haha.

  27. Kate says:

I would give a Rogue to my work friend, who could use a charming man in her life…

  28. Andrea T says:

I would gift Rogue to my friend, Jenny. She’s my book soul mate and truly, just the best.

  29. Ann F. says:

I would gift a rogue to my 9th grade teacher who caught me reading a Harlequin and told me to “read a real book”. I suspect her life is shamefully short of rogues.

  30. Glenda says:

I’ve got a recently divorced friend who could use a good Rogue or other man in her life right now…. Oh wait, you mean the book?!? Yeah, she’d love a copy as would my sister and sister in law.

  31. NCK says:

I would gift Rogues to my roommates, who are the nicest housemates ever; plus, they have been super helpful this weekend when I strained a muscle in my back and was basically bedridden. Presumably they will use their Rogues for heavy lifting and carrying them to class via bicep chariot.

Also, I find this super hilarious because my parents’ grumpy lady cat is also named Rogue-after the X-men-and I would not give her as a gift to anyone I liked (she hates everyone that’s not my parents, my youngest brother, or my sister’s best friend).

  32. Carrie says:

I’ll be honest-I love MacLean and would give Rogue to myself! I would also pick up a copy of When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare.

  33. SparklyThings says:

I’d give a copy to my bestie as we’ve both just started reading romance novels again.

  34. Sue says:

I would give it to my former colleague and gal Friday. She loves historicalss as much as I do and I haven’t seen her in too long since our career paths took different turns. This would be a great way to reconnect.

  35. Linda says:

I would give a copy of Rogue to my cousin. She was the one who introduced me to Georgette Heyer many many years ago and I have never looked back. Thanks for the giveway.

  36. Kareni says:

I think that my ex-sister in law would appreciate a good rogue!

  37. Texas Book Lover says:

I’d give a copy to my buddy April…she lives to read as much as me.

  38. Mara says:

Who doesn’t need a rogue in their life? This reminds me that I’ve been meaning to give a Sarah MacLean to a friend of mine who’s interested in trying some historical romance

  39. Lynnette says:

I’d gift it to my sister who works really hard and deserves a romance break.

  40. Jessie says:

I would definitely give a copy of Rogue to my mother. It’s because of her I read romance.
