Let me start by saying that The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean is my favorite book of hers to date. If you’ve read her, or know me, then you know that I just said a thing.
I mean, there is a scene in this book where the hero sensually rubs honey on the heroine’s body while she dreamily describes the bookstore she’ll own one day.
Damn.
Usually we run reviews on or after release date so that if you think to yourself, I want to read that NOW, you can go and buy it.
However, The Rogue Not Taken doesn’t come out until 29 December, which may have led you to think, WTF Bitches?! Did you not hear me?! I want to read that NOW!
Fear not! We have a giveaway – an Early WORD Giveaway, in fact!
I have five bound manuscript copies of The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean to give away. This is so early, it’s a bound manuscript, not a galley. Cool, huh? Five SUPER EARLY style books!
PLUS! I have a grand prize, in addition to one of the five bound manuscripts: A $75 gift card to WORD Brooklyn, which is MacLean’s local independent bookstore and an enthusiastic supporter of the romance genre – which as we all know can sometimes be a challenge to find in indie-bookstore-land. WORD will ship if you’re not in Brooklyn, so if you win, you can order your books and they’ll have them delivered to you.
In fact, WORD is also taking pre-orders for The Rogue Not Taken, so if you’re totally taken with the book after you read it (I know, you saw what I did there), you could potentially order a copy as a gift for someone who would be equally taken with it. (Ok, I’ll stop.)
So, want to enter? Sure! Just leave a comment below and tell us, if you would be gifting Rogues hither and yon, to whom would you send a Rogue? And if you have no recipients suitable for Rogue gifting, please feel free to tell us what book you’d buy for yourself!
Standard disclaimers apply: void where prohibited. I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Open to residents of US and Canada (sorry, y’all!) where permitted by applicable law. Must be over 18 and prepared to read and shop and read some more to win. Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear, especially if you are farsighted. Whereas, upon participation in the contest as aforesaid, said participant shall nonetheless deliver hereunto all such paraphernalia as reasonably necessary and appropriate. Winners will be chosen by random integer on Friday, 13 November, and announced same day. Thank you to Avon for the prizes!
Good luck!

Thank you to Avon for the prizes, and to everyone who entered. I hope you’re looking forward to Rogues of your own come December!

I would give a Rogue copy to my mom. She started me reading romances and now we share good books.
Definitely my best romance buddy, who could use a serious pick-me-up right now. And my aunt, who has FOUR boys and could use a break!
I’d give a Rogue to one of the ladies in my reading group. So the question would be, should I score multiple Rogues for everyone or should we share the Rogue. Fun times either way!
I have no one in my life that loves romance novels as much as I do, do I would gift it to me! Or maybe would give it to my sister in the hopes of turning her onto historicals so we could read them together.
No rogues to gift to. Instead I would forward to my husband with a big HINT HINT in the subject line. That’s how I got the last Sarah MacLean book ☺️
My girlfriend who could totally appreciate all of the awesome. We frequently swap the best and worst of romance
I would sat my sister, who could use a break from her six kids, but who I am kidding – I would keep it for myself and complete my Tessa Dare and Thersea Romain collections.
I’d share Rogues with my friends Momo who lives very far away. I think she’d enjoy this one.
Yea! I am so super excited to read a new Sarah MacLean! I consider myself lucky to know of at least three romance-loving friends to whom I could gift a copy of the Rogue Not Taken.
I’d love to give a Rogue to my BFF, who just had heart surgery yesterday and could probably use something to lift her spirits. On the other hand, she’s more into contemporaries, so I might give it to another good friend who recently had a surprise divorce and could probably use a lift too.
I’d give a Rogue to my sister, in honor of our clandestine romance-reading when we were pre-teens. Back then, we’d take turns hiding the “red dot” library books under our mattresses to throw our super-conservative mother off the scent of roguish goodness.
I don’t have anyone to give a Rogue to, but I have 3 kids and work nights. I deserve all the rogues! I don’t know what book I want the most…is all of them an acceptable answer?
I would get a copy to pass around to all the ladies in my office!
I would definitely buy Sarah MacLean’s book, and I am also looking forward to books published next year by Christina Lauren, Eloisa James, Julia Quinn, and so many others!!
I’m not sharing the manuscript – it’ mine, mine, mine, MINE!!
But, if I *were* to share. I probably would send the manuscript to to the Sophia Smith Collection @ Neilson Library @ Smith College for archiving. Why Smith College? It has a fantastic collection of notable documents and archives on womens history, especially in the twentieth century. Not having read TRNT yet but, a fan of previous novels Ms. MacLean has written, it would be a great example of post-twentieth century romance literature with a strong feminist bent. Future authors could study it as an example of great storytelling and world building not justin the Romance genre but in general. And, bonus,Ms. MacLean and I are both Smith College Alumnae.
This is, of course, all after I’ve read it.
SMITHIES ROCK!!
I’d send a rogue to a dear friend who’s know what to do with him if he showed up on her doorstep: she’s a suburban rebel – mama to four boys, who decorates her mini-van in Hello Kitty decals, doesn’t mind saying yes to grabbing a coffee after morning carpool even if she’s still in her pj’s, and always gets my dirty yet nerdy jokes.
I would be keeping that rogue all to myself…
I’d give a copy to my friend Trish. We both love romances but add snark and unselfish cunnilingus and we’re IN. (Yeah, I know how that sounds.)
I would keep it all to myself, as I’m the only romance reader I know in real life. Sadly.
Copies to all the ladies in my book group. Because who doesn’t NEED a Rogue?
I’d give a Rogue to my husband. He’s a reader and game for anything. Plus, I enjoy educating him. And, I live in NYC and haven’t been to WORD Brooklyn. Must remedy that.
I’m “All the Rogues, All the Time, All for Me” – so, yes, I would be gifting to myself. Again.
Good thing I deserve it!
My friend Liz, I believe.
Oooo, I have read backlist of everyone, I think, and wait impatiently for new releases, especially Courtney Milan and Loretta Chase. Sarah Mclean is right up there, and although I’m a closet romance reader, I READ THE SHIT OUT OF THEM. Please end my suffering, send me a new book. I have a very small monkeysphere, and my main girl monkey lives in the UK, but I have the will, I would find a way to gift her this book!
I would totally give a copy to the romance novel nay-sayer in my life in a bid to convert her to the genre.
I’m still stuck on today’s HABO…the hero provides the heroine with a chicken inside a salt block? Say what now? Is that a euphemism for sexy times?
But, about that Rogue. My sis-in-law is in need of a good rogue, so I would share with her.
…that chicken thing though….
I’d give it to my great friend CT. I got her started reading historical romances and now we regularly talk about rogues, rakes and scandals. Just gave her her first Loretta Chase to read and she’s in love!
Hi! A bound manuscript! That is so cool! I would send a rogue to my mom, if she were still with us – I remember all the books she used to read, the ones with a castle with a light in the tower and and a woman running away from the castle pictured on the cover. Since I couldn’t do that, I would share a rogue with my two sisters – of course.
I’d give a copy of Rogue to the woman who introduced me to Sarah MacLean, Mallory H.! I know she would lose her shit to get one so early.
Would totally Rogue the BFF who thinks she wants a Jamie, but in her heart of hearts wants a Dougal. I’d Dougal myself if I could. Rogue and Dougal, my two new favorite verbs.
I would give a copy of Rouge to my mother because sometimes I think she gets locked into a romance box where she doesn’t read new authors. When I force her to read new authors it is my way of saying thank you to leaving out romance books and looking the other way when I read them secretly to make it feel more exciting.
I would send my sister a Rogue!
First, love yourself so – ME! But since I’m gonna totally win, I’d like to share the bounty with my sister, Myrtle who manages my library in our house in the Philippines. I send her a copy of all the books I’ve read and loved. For sure, Rogue will be one of them.
OMG I CANT WAIT FOR THIS BOOK!!!!! I love Sarah MacLean!!!!
I am so excited about this book, especially after that scene you just described! I would gift this book to my fellow romance novel loving book buddy, Mary. She loves historical romances but has yet to read one of Sarah MacLean’s even though I keep telling her she needs to get on that bandwagon!
I would gift the rouge to any of my ‘book discussion’ friends. Not all of them read romance but I’m working on them!
Definitely my bestie! We’ve been sharing romances for years, and have our own two-person romance book club! There’s no one better to share the adventure and laughs with! 🙂
Well, I would definitely keep one. Love love love Sarah MacLean. I don’t have many romance-reading friends. To buy . . . I’ve long said if I came into unexpected money I’d stock up on Jayne Castle books, because that is the one incarnation of Jayne Anne Krentz my local library has NO books by, so I’ve only read a handful, and she is an author I just love.
Love love her books all my friend read contemporary romance I read only historical tell friends that my MEN from 1800 taught these men they had to use their imaginations!! I would send one after me of course my friend Josette she does mix up her romance books!!
Ohhh open to Canada- 🙂 We appreciate this up in the great white north- where polar bears roam- also Wolverine.
To gift this rogue- would be to my best friends- who would appreciate a good rogue, and who have shared stories of slightly less good rogues-
Also I would have to say currently on my To Buy list is Anna Lee Hubber- regency/historical murder mysteries.
yay for Giveaways- Thanks SBTB
