The Rogue Not Taken: An Early WORD Giveaway!

The Rogue Not Taken
A | BN | K | AB
You might have seen Elyse’s very joyful review of the upcoming Sarah MacLean novel, The Rogue Not Taken today:

Let me start by saying that The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean is my favorite book of hers to date. If you’ve read her, or know me, then you know that I just said a thing.

I mean, there is a scene in this book where the hero sensually rubs honey on the heroine’s body while she dreamily describes the bookstore she’ll own one day.

Damn.

Usually we run reviews on or after release date so that if you think to yourself, I want to read that NOW, you can go and buy it.

However, The Rogue Not Taken doesn’t come out until 29 December, which may have led you to think, WTF Bitches?! Did you not hear me?! I want to read that NOW!

Fear not! We have a giveaway – an Early WORD Giveaway, in fact!

I have five bound manuscript copies of The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean to give away. This is so early, it’s a bound manuscript, not a galley. Cool, huh? Five SUPER EARLY style books!

WORD BrooklynPLUS! I have a grand prize, in addition to one of the five bound manuscripts: A $75 gift card to WORD Brooklynwhich is MacLean’s local independent bookstore and an enthusiastic supporter of the romance genre – which as we all know can sometimes be a challenge to find in indie-bookstore-land. WORD will ship if you’re not in Brooklyn, so if you win, you can order your books and they’ll have them delivered to you.

In fact, WORD is also taking pre-orders for The Rogue Not Taken, so if you’re totally taken with the book after you read it (I know, you saw what I did there), you could potentially order a copy as a gift for someone who would be equally taken with it. (Ok, I’ll stop.)

So, want to enter? Sure! Just leave a comment below and tell us, if you would be gifting Rogues hither and yon, to whom would you send a Rogue? And if you have no recipients suitable for Rogue gifting, please feel free to tell us what book you’d buy for yourself!

Standard disclaimers apply:  void where prohibited. I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Open to residents of US and Canada (sorry, y’all!) where permitted by applicable law. Must be over 18 and prepared to read and shop and read some more to win. Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear, especially if you are farsighted. Whereas, upon participation in the contest as aforesaid, said participant shall nonetheless deliver hereunto all such paraphernalia as reasonably necessary and appropriate. Winners will be chosen by random integer on Friday, 13 November, and announced same day. Thank you to Avon for the prizes!

Good luck!

  1. Sarah says:

I’d give a Rouge to my mamafriend, who once confessed along with me that she also enjoyed reading romance novels during a playdate while talking to our other mamafriends; some who were self proclaimed book snobs and were horrified that we read that “trash”.

  2. Sarah H says:

I would definitely put it in the teachers’ lounge of my youngest kids’ school. Parents gift classes with books all the time (donating a Wimpy Kid can actdlly earn you a hug from even the toughest of nine year olds) but I love the idea that the women (and men, right? Why not?) who work so hard for the next generation can take some time off and read about love, honey, and gunfire.

  3. Patricia M. says:

I would send a Rogue to my younger sister. She has had a few hard years, which included a faithless now ex-husband. She could use some smiles.

  4. April V. says:

I’d love to gift a rogue to my mom. She doesn’t generally do historical romance but she could really use the fun that a Sarah MacLean book always is. When I saw the review this morning on FB I was immediately happy, a new Sarah MacLean! And then immediately sad as the pub date is too far away. Anyway, it sounds like just my kind of thing and I will definitely be reading this once it comes out, unless I win one of these unique copies!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. Sofia says:

I would gift a rogue to my friend who is married to a scoundrel (kindest words I can use about him 🙁 )

  6. Annie says:

Whether it’s “a Rogue” as in a person or “a Rogue” as in the book, I would gift it to all my book club friends!!
We’ve been looking forward to this book ever since we heard a scene was based on the Beyonce/Jay-Z/Solange elevator argument/fight.

  7. ADL says:

I’d give to my officemate who is also a friend in real life who has finally finished reading the Scoundrels series and we can totally talk openly about them all!

  8. MakeKay says:

All of my fellow romance readers are faceless names on blog sites. I don’t know anybody locally . So I’d buy for myself: Unleashed by Shadows by Nancy Gideon

  9. Nerdalisque says:

I’d gift the book to three of my romance-loving friends!

  10. ppyajunebug says:

    OH MY GOOOOOOD

I would give one to my BFF who got me into romance and we could read it together and then yell out our favorite parts to each other.

  11. villette says:

I’d give a rogue to my sister. She hasn’t read MacLean, despite my encouragement, so I’d start my gifting there!

  12. Erica says:

I would definitely be giving a Rogue to my bestie, who reads the books I recommend to her. Then analyze the books in a series of ridiculously long emails, and I think this amazeballs story would be worthy of some extremely long and fruitful email discussions.

  13. Melissandre says:

Seems like the perfect book for the upcoming Holiday Party book swap in my grad department…

  14. Anna says:

I unfortunately don’t have a good recipient for any Rogue books, but I would buy ALL THE BOOKS!

Not really. I’d probably buy Married by Morning, by Lisa Kleypas, since it’s the only one of the Hathaway series that I don’t have.

  15. Jill says:

I would give a Rogue to my mom, who is awesome.

  16. Kay says:

I would give my younger sister a Rogue. She’s quite convinced it wouldn’t be ‘the thing,’ but she needs a little more fun and romance in her life.

  17. Cat C says:

My sister would love Rogue — I lent her my copy of Nine Rules and she adored it (though I think my annotations amused her just as much as did MacLean’s witty dialogue). Thanks, Avon!

  18. Crysta says:

Oh how I would share the rogues! I just discovered that a coworker is a romance reader as well so I would absolutely share with her! She’s mostly into contemporaries (and motorcycle ones at that, which I didn’t even know was a thing) so we’re already discussing a swap to get us each out of our comfort zones.

  19. SeventhWave says:

Ah, who would I send a rogue to… can’t I keep him? I’m in need of one!
Seriously though, I have a whole bunch of friends who are much better at finding rogues than i am! This is a great giveaway – thank you!

  20. Algae says:

My sister in law – she’s leaving a book club because it ended up being a lot of really good books, but everyone dies at the end of them. She needs something fun and hot.

  21. elena says:

I wish I could send a copy of Rogue to EVERYONE I know. I would like to make it rain Rogues because it is much better than trying to swipe to find love these days.

  22. Katrina says:

I would gift a rogue to each of my friends I grew up with. We used to argue about who would get George from the Song of the Lioness books.

  23. Lisa says:

Wait, are we talking about real Rogues (the man) or the book? If it’s the former, my never-been-kissed coworker could seriously use a Rogue (not that she’s accept.) If the book, then I’d definitely send one to my mom.

  24. Marina says:

Well, if I’m giving away actual rogues, I’d keep a couple to myself and ship a bunch back to Austin for the awesome Austin RWA gang. Maybe keep a couple so I can bribe people into being my friends here in Silicon Valley.

  25. Abby says:

I would give this book to my very good friend, who I think might benefit from a fun romance after a string of bad dating experiences.

  26. susan says:

I have a romance-reading friend who used to live nearby but now lives far away. I know she would like Sarah MacLean’s books if she has not already ready some.

  27. Brenda says:

Ok, as weird as this souds, I’d gift a rogue to my daughter, who moved to NYC 6 months ago and is still gobsmacked by cultural differences from growing up in the “fly over zone” part of the country. He’d have to be a rogue with scruples, and she deserves someone fun, honest, smart, and kind. She deserves to have whatever makes her happy. And she knows how to handle asshats.

  28. Brenda says:

Ok, as weird as this sounds, I would gift a Rogue to my daughter, who moved to NYC 6 months ago and is still gobsmacked by culture shock from growing up in the “fly over zone”. He’d have to be scrupulous, kind, smart, and funny, and should not show his asshat side, because my daughter decimates asshats.

  29. Jane says:

I would give a copy to my sister – my only other romance loving family member. She shares my love for books and historical romances. I’m excited now, if you love it more than some of her other books.

  30. Heather Harrison says:

I would gift it to my mom- she introduced me to historical romance. 🙂

  31. Carolinareader says:

I would gift it to myself because I wants it but also I am one of those individuals that don’t have romance reading friends in her regular life. So thankful for the internet.

  32. JennyOH says:

I’d gift ’em to my high school squad – lo these many years ago, we had a closet in our dorm that was STUFFED with romance novels, all of the old-skool neck-baring, open-shirted, historic-mulleted variety. We called ourselves The Beef Club.

  33. Lindleepw says:

I would give a copy to my friend Kelsey because she enjoys a good romance!

  34. Kendal says:

I would give not one, but eight rogues (in the form of the Bridgerton series) to my sister, who I introduced to romance back in 2009…and says she only likes contemporary.

  35. Lynn says:

I don’t know who around me reads romance, so I’d hold onto it for a while, then maybe gift it to a Little Free Library to spread the joy. And there are so many books I would buy. I have a shopping list on Amazon of 65 books, give or take. I would probably get some Tessa Dare.

  36. I would give a Rogue to my best friend, who is currently slogging her way through graduate school, aided only by caffeine and a giant TBR pile of romances. Sarah Maclean’s Rules of Scoundrels series is how I hooked her on the genre in the first place!

  37. Jen G. says:

I would give a copy of Rogue to my friend and former-coworker with whom I spend copious amounts of time squeeing over various books we both love.

  38. Kimberly says:

Hmmm. All my gals are already taken, so no rogue gifting. But I am seriously lusting after the beautiful classic books from Penguin. I would love to start a collection of those to class my place up..and reread, of course!

  39. Jennifer says:

My boss could use a rogue. But then I don’t share well.

  40. Kim says:

First copy would go to me.
