For the next eighty hours (November 2-5), Sourcebooks Casablanca is celebrating 80 years of Regency romances! What does that mean? It means that a metric butt-ton of their Regency titles from authors like Grace Burrowes, Theresa Romain, Georgette Heyer will be $1.99! Feel free to look through the big list of books on sale here!
Do or Die

Do or Die by Suzanne Brockmann is $1.99! This is a romantic suspense between a Navy SEAL and an attorney. I should also note that the description mentions that there are children in peril, which I know is a huge off for some readers. Many readers complain of a rough first start to the book. However, fans of Brockmann loved this spin-off to her Troubleshooters series.
Navy SEAL Ian Dunn went rogue in a big way when he turned his talents to a lawless life of jewel heists and con jobs. Or so the world has been led to believe. In reality, the former Special Ops warrior is still fighting for good, leading a small band of freelance covert operatives who take care of high-stakes business in highly unofficial ways. That makes Ian the hands-down choice when the U.S. government must breach a heavily guarded embassy and rescue a pair of children kidnapped by their own father, a sinister foreign national willing to turn his kids into casualties. Shockingly, Ian passes on the mission for reasons he will not—or cannot—reveal.
But saying no is not an option. Especially not for Phoebe Kruger, Ian’s beautiful and unexpectedly brash new attorney. Determined to see the abducted children set free, Phoebe not only gets Ian on board but insists on riding shotgun on his Mission: Impossible-style operation, whether he likes it or not.
Though Phoebe has a valuable knack for getting out of tight spots, there’s no denying the intensely intimate feelings growing between Ian and Phoebe as the team gears up for combat. But these are feelings they both must fight to control as they face an array of cold-blooded adversaries, including a vindictive mob boss who’s got Ian at the top of his hit list and a wealthy psychopath who loves murder as much as he loves money. As they dodge death squads and play lethal games of deception, Ian and Phoebe will do whatever it takes to save the innocent and vanquish the guilty—or die trying.

In Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker is $2.99! This is book two in Walker’s Black Knights Inc.series, which is romantic suspense with a motorcycles. Lots and lots of motorcycles. The heroine owns a motorcycle shop, which I think is pretty neat. Many readers mentioned that this book picks up right where the previous one ends, so it may be beneficial to read them in order.
Rebel with a Cause
Becky “Rebel” Reichert never actually goes looking for trouble. It just has a tendency to find her. Like the day Frank Knight showed up at her door, wanting to use her motorcycle shop as a cover for his elite special ops team. But Becky prides herself on being able to hang with the big boys-she can weld, drive, and shoot just as well as any of them.
Man with a Mission
Munitions, missiles, and mayhem are Frank’s way of life. The last thing the ex-SEAL wants is for one brash blonde to come within fifty feet of anything that goes boom. Yet it’s just his rotten luck when she ends up in a hostage situation at sea. Come hell or high water, he will get her back-whether she says she needs him or not.

Midnight Ride by Cat Johnson is $1.99! This is a contemporary western romance with an age difference. The heroine is actually the older one for a change! Some readers loved the the age difference in the romance, while others didn’t warm up to the heroine. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Have you read this one?
One bucking bronco…
Oklahoma ranch hand Tyler Jenkins is too young, too sexy, and too damn wild to be tied down by any single woman—for more than a few steamy hours…
One hard-working widow…
Widowed rancher Janie Smithwick is too busy paying off her debts to play rodeo with a reckless young cowboy like Tyler—no matter how hot he gets her…
One midnight ride they’ll never forget…
As a rule, Janie should be dating a man her own age, like her handsome neighbor Rohn—not the twenty-four-year old ranch hand he employs. But once Tyler gets Janie alone—held tight in his arms, pressed against his hard muscled body, burning with desire—the widow realizes that some rules, like broncos, are meant to be broken…

Foster Justice by Colleen Shannon is 99c! This is a contemporary western romantic suspense. So clearly, a lot going on! Readers loved the blend of romance and suspense. However, some readers had trouble believing the romance between the hero and heroine. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads. Any takers?
One Riot, One Ranger…
That’s the Texas Ranger motto, but when Chad Foster’s rebellious brother goes missing, it’s time to put his elite training to use investigating a crime that strikes much closer to home. Turning Los Angeles inside out to retrieve Trey and save their ranch from a ruthless land grab is a no brainer, even if it puts his badge at risk. His only lead is a heart-stoppingly sensuous exotic dancer with a very tempting butterfly tattoo, the woman who helped scam his brother out of their ranch. But staying on top of this redhead’s every suggestive word and sensual move means putting his case–and his heart–right in the line of fire . . .
A Texas Ranger, complete with quarter horse, is as out of place in downtown L.A. as a lawman is in the bed of a suspect, but with both their lives at risk, Chad has to put his trust in the one woman who could bring him down for good, and pray that somehow hard evidence is really just a pack of lies. . .

So do any of those regencies on sale take place entirely among non-gentry? I am bourgeois and proud of it, and find myself fed up with the ton.
I don’t know about that “list of books on sale”, Amanda. Black Sheep, by G. Heyer, is $14.07 in Kindle format, another on the list, The Reluctant WIdow, is $11.60. Not my idea of a sale.
@LML: Both of those are showing up as $1.99 for me! Are you shopping from outside the US?
@Vasha: I’m honestly the wrong person to ask about historical time periods. I’ll nudge one of the other Bitches and see if they have an answer!
@LML:
Unfortunately, we’re all inside the US, so we see prices coded for our geographic location. And even more unfortunately, a lot of the sales are restricted geographically – which seriously bums me out and I wish I could fix. So some are US and Canada, and some are US and a bunch of other places, and some are everyone, everywhere, WOO!
This one may be US or US/Can, and it’s sometimes hard for us to figure that out. We’re working on trying to identify international sales and highlighting them for readers everywhere – so many readers buy romance in English from all over the world, and it’d be a lot better if everyone had some access to the discounts! I’m sorry this sale may not apply to you, and I wish there were ways I could extend the discount boundaries. Alas, that’s not within my powers.
Tons of Georgette Heyer are $1.99 (including The Reluctant Widow).
Earls Just Want to Have Fun by Shana Galen is free at Amazon. I remember liking it.
Huh. This is the first time that I haven’t had U.S. pricing at Amazon. After further clicking & clicking, it seems only Heyer’s books are not $1.99. Please excuse my snippiness — I have read so much about Heyer’s books here at SBTB but have yet to read one.
Christina Skye’s Bride of the Mist (Draycott Abbey) is free – looks like itwas recently reissued. I loved this series in the late 90’s.

Bertrice Small’s To Love Again is $1.99 at Amazon and B&N.
What a gift! Bought half a dozen Heyers!!
Dearest Amanda, do forgive the impertinence, but I believe the correct Regency measurement to be a metric butt-tonne 😉 (Although the Butt Ton is an aristocratic joke waiting to crack *snicker*)
A number of Heyer’s titles are listed on Amazon.ca for 2.49. Not quite as good as the US sale price, but still better than regular retail. I haven’t checked any of the other authors in the Casablanca catalogue, but it may be worthwhile having a look if you’re interested in a particular author.
I cannot help but mention that I adore all things Suzanne Brockmann. And Georgette Heyer, obviously. But suspense is very much my least favorite romance subgenre (unless one counts new adult and I’m still hoping it will just go away). I will try just about any regency author, although Heyer is my favorite. Brockmann makes me positively eager to read anything, down to the kids in peril. To be fair I am not trigged by children being endangered so much as I simply don’t want kids mixed in my romance, but still. No matter how I disdain a trope, I trust Brockmann with it.
Beth Cato’s The Clockwork Crown, second part of her Clockwork Dagger Duology, is $1.99 on Amazon. *weeps with happiness* Healer heroine! Steampunky awesomeness! Woo hoo!
