  • The Marriage Contract

The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert

RECOMMENDED: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is $3.99! This is an arranged marriage plot in a modern setting, which I would love to see more of! The book does deal with characters in the mob, which I know is a big off-button for some readers, so FYI. Elyse’s review came out today and she gave it an A:

If you had told me that I’d really love a book about the children of two Boston mob bosses being in an arranged marriage, I’d have raised a skeptical eyebrow. But I’m so so glad that The Marriage Contract proved me wrong because I enjoyed it immensely.

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

  • A Fighting Chance

A Fighting Chance by Shannon Stacey

A Fighting Chance by Shannon Stacey is available for preorder for $1.99! This is a contemporary second chance romance with an MMA hero and I am all about this. Unfortunately, the book doesn’t release until January, but I compare it to drunk one-clicking. You’ll forget all about this purchase and then, surprise! There’s a present from your past self!

All work and no play makes Adeline Kendrick a dull girl, so when she heads to a casino resort for a friend’s bachelorette weekend, she’s ready to have a good time. Until she runs into Brendan Quinn, professional fighter and the one who got away—the one her family drove away—and things take a turn for the interesting.

Running into his ex won’t shake Brendan. Even if it brings up the old pain of loving her when she was only slumming. Even if she looks really good. In fact, what better way to get over the past than to take advantage of the still-sizzling chemistry running hot between them? He’s there to win an MMA fight, but he won’t say no to a little physical relief of a different kind.

But when the weekend is over, Adeline isn’t ready to give up her second chance that easily. Brendan is still the one for her, no matter what her family thinks. Now, if only she can convince him of that…

  • Overruled

    Overruled by Emma Chase

Overruled by Emma Chase is $3.99! This is a contemporary romance with a lawyer hero and heroine. And the hero is Southern. Mmm… The book was also featured on a previous edition of Hide Your Wallet. Some thought the hero was a bit of a jerk and the heroine needed more of a backbone, while others loved the chemistry between the hero and heroine, especially with their banter. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.

Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.

Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.

That’s definitely not part of the plan.

Sofia Santos is a city raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn’t have time for relationships or distractions.

But when Stanton, her “friend with mind-blowing benefits” begs for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him – to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi – to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves.

Her head tells her she’s crazy…and her heart says something else entirely.

What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?

The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.

  • Fit

    Fit by Rebekah Weatherspoon

Fit by Rebekah Weatherspoon is 99c! This is a short BDSM erotic romance. The other two books in the trilogy are also 99c! So you can get the whole set for less than $3. I haven’t read them, but from the Goodreads comments and reviews, readers loved the diverse characters from the series and the BDSM elements seemed to fit well with the plots. Tamed ( A | K | AB ) is book two and Sated ( A | BN | K | AB ) is book three.

Violet Ryan loves the delicious food she gets to eat on the reality shows she produces for The Food Channel. What she hates is her expanding waistline. Determined to drop the pounds, Violet hatches a plan to kick start a fitness regimen. But when her determination isn’t enough to get her through even one intense group class without breaking down into tears, she knows she needs a new approach and possibly a new trainer—one with a lighter touch.

Grant Gibson has always managed to mix business with pleasure, but now this trainer by day, and Dominant by night, is bored. Bored and lonely. Even though he owns one of L.A.’s hottest private gyms, his personal life is sorely lacking. After his last submissive tried to kidnap his dog and the contents of his bank account, he’s in no hurry to take a new lover under his wing. Not until the voluptuous Violet falls into his lap.

She may be wary of his unorthodox approach of using sexual gratification as a reward, but even before her initial weigh-in Violet can’t seem to stay away from the sexy fitness god. She may have to let Grant show her there’s more than one way to get in shape…

  1. Elaine says:

Does anyone else think it looks like the guy on the cover of the Shannon Stacey book is riding the carousel at the fair and trying to look like he doesn’t secretly love it?

  2. Lostshadows says:

@Elaine: Well, not until you mentioned it. LOL! 😀

  3. Ross Poldark, the first book in the series and the basis for the current mini series, is a KDD for $2.99.

  4. Crystal says:

Hey, you know who read The Godfather as a teenager and was a fan of The Sopranos and The Departed as an adult? Meeeee. You know who looks at the trailer for Black Mass and is here for it? Meeee.

You know who one-clicked that Marriage Contract? Yup. Here for it.

  5. @Amanda says:

@Crystal: When I got into grad school in Boston, I had a Boston-themed movie marathon. The Departed. The Town. Gone Baby Gone. They were all awesome. And then my mom got concerned because they were all crime movies, haha.

  6. Phoebe says:

I just bought Fit and read it in one sitting. I really liked most of it, but the ending was pretty abrupt, even though it was happy. And call me jaded, but as erotica goes I thought it was pretty tame.

  7. A friend of mine in the Pacific Northwest is a a personal trainer. She has a program not unlike that in Fit. Her clients make remarkable improvements with the promise of a “happy ending” if goals are achieved!
