In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins is $1.99 at Amazon! This is a wintry contemporary romance and I have to say that I just love this cover. It’s cute and cozy and I want that dog. This is the fourth book in the Blue Heron series and has the heroine taking the hero as her date to her ex-fiance’s wedding. Fans of the series love this latest installment, saying that the books just keep getting better. For some readers, the book felt too short, as did the romance. It has a 4-star rating on GR.
Everyone loves Jack Holland, but Emmaline Neal needs him. Her ex-fiancé is getting married in Malibu and, obviously, she can’t go to the wedding alone. In Manningsport, New York, tall, blond and gorgeous Jack Holland is practically a cottage industry when it comes to rescuing desperate women. He knows the drill, Em figures, so he won’t get the wrong idea.
What Jack needs is an excuse to leave town. Ever since rescuing four teenagers from a car wreck, he’s been hailed as a hero and the attention is making him itchy, especially since his too-pretty ex-wife is back, angling for a reunion. Taken With You by Shannon Stacey is $1.99 on Amazon! This is the eighth book in the Kowalski Family contemporary romance series and Sarah reviewed it last spring, giving it a B:
Fans of the Kowalski series will see many of the other past characters in this story – some so vibrant they almost steal scenes from Matt or Hailey. There’s lots of ATVing, trails, Rose’s cooking, bickering, babies and discussions of weddings and anticipated pregnancies, and ordinary yet lovely people living their lives (one of the best things about the series, if you ask me). If you like the Kowalskis, you’ll like this book plenty. While Matt’s ending and Hailey’s insistence bothered me a bit, all the warmth and fun and bug spray and humor and family that’s part of the series is plentiful in this book, too. I spent a lot of words analyzing what bothered me, but I also want to say that the good parts are terrific, and Stacey writes whoodamn fine contemporary romance.
Hailey Genest has seen most of her friends marry and have babies, and she’s happy for them, but it was a lot easier before she hit forty. She’s spent her entire life in Whitford, Maine, and if she hasn’t found her Prince Charming by now, she has to accept she’s probably not going to. When a new friend suggests they go on an adventure and embrace being single, Hailey agrees.
Surviving in the woods is game warden Matt Barnett’s idea of a relaxing vacation. But when he meets two women in need of help, he leads them back to safety—a task that proves more fun than expected, thanks to a certain hot blonde. He can’t resist pushing her buttons, even though she’s made it clear that the rugged, outdoorsy type just isn’t for her.
Hailey is glad to see the back of her tempting-tour-guide-slash-pain-in-the-ass. When he shows up in her life again, she’s determined to avoid him, no matter how good he looks in his uniform. But that’s easier said than done in Whitford, especially when he’s renting the house right next door….
