In Your Corner
In Your Corner by Sarah Castille is $1.99 right now. This is an erotic contemporary with a hero who is a mixed martial arts champion. It was picked as one of Amazon’s Best Romance Books of the Year last year, and was also a PW Best Summer Read. It has a 4+ star average on GR, and readers who liked it enjoyed the “second chance after a bad breakup” story, and the very, very alpha hero.
“You have to go. I won’t be able to control myself. I’ve wanted you so bad for so long and after I’ve been in the cage…I can’t think straight.” He gives a guttural groan and his fist clenches on my hip.
Primitive. Primal. His need speaks to me. I tighten my grip on his neck and rock up to kiss him. He takes over. His kiss is hard and demanding.
“Mine.” His voice is raw, savage and for a moment I truly believe he may lose control.
He rules in the ring
Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn’t dull the pain of Amanda’s rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.
A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn’t found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help…
But can he rule her heart?
Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda’s not sure if she can stay in control, or if she’s finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

The Duke’s Guide to Correct Behavior
The Duke’s Guide to Correct Behavior by Megan Frampton is $1.99. This is book 1 in the “Dukes Behaving Badly” series – do duke behave otherwise? Maybe in some other genre – and has a 3.5-star average. Readers who enjoyed it and left positive reviews mentioned the humor and the dialogue, and the nobleman/governess trope as among their favorites.
All of London knows the Duke of Rutherford has position and wealth. They also whisper that he’s dissolute, devilish, and determinedly unwed. So why, everyone is asking, has he hired a governess?
When Miss Lily Russell crosses the threshold of the Duke of Rutherford’s stylish townhouse, she knows she has come face to face with sensual danger. For this is no doting papa. Rather, his behavior is scandalous, and his reputation rightly earned. And his pursuit of her is nearly irresistible—but resist she must for the sake of her pupil.
As for the duke himself, it was bad enough when his unknown child landed on his doorstep. Now Lily, with her unassuming beauty, has aroused his most wicked fantasies—and, shockingly, his desire to change his wanton ways. He’s determined to become worthy of her, and so he asks for her help in correcting his behavior.
But Lily has a secret, one that, if it becomes known, could change everything . . .

Rocky Mountain Heat
Rocky Mountain Heat by Vivian Arend is free right now – yay, free! This is book 1 of the Six Pack Ranch series (I confess to loving that name), which is erotic contemporary western romance. Readers who liked it loved how hot it was, but readers who had problems with the book disliked the heroine, who they thought was indecisive. That said, it has a 3.9-star average.
Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a blonde wearing a cowboy hat with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. Hell, he was the one that taught her to ride a horse and now all he can think about is riding her. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.
Jaxi has other plans for his hands, and his heart. She may have considered Blake a big brother once but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s just what he’s been waiting for.
Add the complication of two sexy younger brothers who have suddenly noticed Jaxi and things heat up fast. Blake’s gonna have to decide if a little trouble is worth fighting for.

Also on sale: “Deerskin” by Robin McKinley for $1.99 at Amazon!
I tried to think of an example of “Dukes in Literature Who DON’T Behave Badly”, and all I could come up with was Plantagenet Parlier. But his duchess behaved badly enough for both of them. :=)
Uhhh, that was supposed to be “Plantagenet Palliser”. Don’t know how auto-correct came up with Parlier . . .
@Heather – thanks for the heads up about Deerskin. I haven’t read it in years, but I thought McKinley did a great job of using fantasy and a fairy tale to tell the emotional truth about recovering from rape and incest. Not exactly an easy read, but emotionally rewarding, imo.
Oooh, Deerskin. Such a gorgeous, wrenching book!
My first thought on “The Duke’s Guide to Correct Behavior” was “put on a shirt” – not that the model was hard on the eyes, just it would be correct behavior. Second thought was, where are her legs! Are they out front holding up the dress, because something needs to be holding up the dress. However, that looks rather contortiony. Regardless, the book sounds delightful!
