Hooray! We have a winner! Our winner is: Sarah H. Congratulations, Sarah! Thank you to everyone who entered, and thank you to the Get Lucky anthology authors for the most excellent prize.

I have a lucky t-shirt I wear when I need some extra luck oomph!
All my “lucky” superstitions have to do with hockey. I wear my hand knit Canucks colored socks and they tend to win. Alas the dye is running so I can’t wash them often and unwashed socks are blech!
No lucky charms, but if I don’t do certain things in the same order every morning, I might as well go back to bed because my day is already going to be a disaster.
No lucky charms for me as well, but when I sometime cross my fingers when I feel like something is going to go wrong…
The only thing I can think of is that I’m a bit obsessive about knocking on wood after talking about something ominous. Seems to work since I haven’t been sick in years. Maybe I need to get myself a charm or something, I’m not especially lucky otherwise.
For good luck I knock on wood, always get out of the house on the right foot.
No lucky charms, just close my eyes and whisper “please, please, please, please”.
Knocking on wood to avoid trouble is as close as I get to a lucky charm.
I have lucky earrings. I thought I lost one a few weeks ago (I KNEW the back was loose, but needed luck anyway), but found it nestled in the folds of my scarf when I pulled off my cold-weather gear. Lucky indeed.
I never (never!) say “when”, as long as it is basically still an “if”.
I just cross my fingers. It’s been pretty hit or miss, so maybe I will get some ideas from the comments!
I knock on wood to avoid bad luck, lol!
I have a lucky bracelet that I wear when I need a boost. Even if it doesn’t improve my luck, it’s shiny and pretty, and makes me feel happy!
My lucky number is 8, so when I’m betting on horses (at my once yearly trip to the races) I’ll often throw #8 into the mix. I also knock on wood (or my head, if no wood is available).
I knock on wood for luck. But I guess it also depends on the circumstances; for example, when I’m in a car and going through a yellow light, I kiss my fingers and hit the ceiling.
I eat a Snickers bar, though that is more for brain power than luck. It’s my mom’s favorite candy bar, and she thinks she’s brilliant, so I figure it must be brain food! I also have a lucky necklace. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I have a Hogwarts Tshirt that I bought from the boys’ section when I was in college. This was before the movies came out, and girls’ shirts were unavailable. I wore this shirt under my uniform for every test during the two years it took to get a license in my industry. I was among fewer than 10 women to achieve this at my plant in 40 years and did it with some luck from Hermione.
I always do the magpie thing! One magpie is unlucky, so after searching frantically for the sight of a second magpie (30 secs)..I give the magpie a salute, and ask after its family !! … It works for me 🙂
Whenever I need a boost of luck, I wear a necklace that quotes the opening lines of an Emily Dickinson poem: “Hope is the thing with feathers/That perches in the soul.”
I have no actual rituals for luck, but I do tend to say “Knock on wood,” “God willing,” or “God forbid” when referring to possible desired or unwanted outcomes. No point in tempting fate.
What do I do for luck? Mostly, I work my butt off so I’m ready if luck ever shows up.
I knock on wood when I mention something potentially negative.
I don’t know if it’s for luck exactly, but when watching my college team play sportsball, I will often state what should happen in the game, wave my palm in a circle, and declare, “I will it to be.” Strangely enough, this often works.
I tend to shrug my shoulders and make a “eh, here goes nothing” face whenever I need a little luck.
I don’t do much for luck other than occasionally knock on wood.
I usually have a necklace I consider lucky. Right now my lucky necklace is a Celtic knot fittingly enough.
I often ask my darling husband for ‘a kiss for good luck’ but really I just want a kiss. Does that count? 😀
I wear my mother’s wedding ring on a chain so she’s always there.
lift my feet up when I go over train tracks.
I have this thing with my socks! When I undo the little sock bundle, if they both come out the right way (rather than inside out) I feel like the day is lucky and off to a good start. So, when I fold my laundry, I am careful to bundle them in just the right way!
Nicola Marsh wrote for Harlequin’s KISS category line, so that’s reason enough for me! I loved the KISS series and was so sad when they discontinued it.
When the clock shows repeating digits (like 11:11), I knock on wood 🙂
I wear a ring that I inherited from my mother.
I have a lucky necklace that, oddly enough, is Terry Pratchett related. I got my Mighty Prawn medal many years ago and wear it whenever I feel like I may be in danger of drowning while on dry land. So far it’s been very effective.
Seriously, though, I do wear the thing when I feel I need a bit of extra luck since I have never been a particularly lucky person in general.
I pray. Hard.
I try and take advantage of Murphy’s Law. I prepare for the worst in the hopes that it will prove unnecessary. For example, I bring along my umbrella to work to ensure it doesn’t rain.
I wear black. Seriously.
I do not have any lucky charms, but I do have a specific routine I always do when I fly. This includes a particular outfit 🙂
I always put my right shoe on first. A habit I started when I was in a play in my freshman year of high school. Was said to be an old theatre good luck charm from Shakespearean days, or my teacher liked to tell stretchers….
I always knock-on-wood (or on my head if there is no actual wood around) and cross my fingers (only in odd sets)… I also used to have a lucky hockey outfit, until the shirt fell apart!
