From Gry, our trusty and ever-terrific Norwegian Friday Videos Correspondent, comes this video from the Chinese State Circus production of Swan Lake.
I am feeling for that guy balancing a pointe shoe on his shoulder. OW.
I hope your weekend is easily beautiful and perfectly balanced.

And on his head as she turns! amazing.
My, she’s . . . . flexible.
I took my daughter to see Swan Lake last week, performed by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. I’m always in awe of what ballet dancers can do. (and on a side note, my 11 year old commented that the men looked like they had ‘wedgies’ LOL)
I’m getting to be an old fuddy duddy – I saw gymnastics more than ballet (and her knees freaked me out – because I have crappy knees).
Loved the costumes on the corps, though. So swan-like.
@ReneeG …I agree. I found the gymnastics distracted from the artistry. IMO the dance should cause the audience to be swept up into the fantasy of the story, whereas I found myself being jarred back to reality each time they performed some the more circus-y moves. And don’t get me wrong. They are amazing artists but for me, it didn’t work.
Then again, maybe I would appreciate it more if I were seeing this performance as part of the larger circus show, ie. not just clip on it’s own taken out of context?
That just gave me chills.
Wow.
