Giveaway: A KitchenAid Stand (Mixer) and Lynsay Sands!

Book The Immortal Who Loved Me To celebrate the 21st book in Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series, The Immortal Who Loved Me, Avon asked if they could give away a 4.5 quart Kitchen Aid standing mixer here at the hot pink palace.

Like I would say no to anything that involved the remote possibility of baked goods, right?

Why baked goods? As Caro, the lovely publicists who came up with this buttery idea wrote to me, “Since the heroine, Sherry Carne, owns a kitchen goods store, I thought it’d be fun to give away a fancy KitchenAid stand mixer, because honestly, who doesn’t want one of those? It’s like the Cadillac of cookie equipment.” She’s not wrong – I have one, and I use it all the time. So let’s get to it, eh?

The grand prize is an Ultra Power® Series 4.5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer from KitchenAid, in the winner’s choice of color – and this thing comes in red, green, blue, pink, yellow, and something that looks a lot like Tiffany blue – it’s kind of amazing.

Ahoy, widget!

    Pizza Dough FTW!

First thing on the agenda would be: Oatmeal /raisin/chocolate chip/walnut cookies (double batch).

  3. Rebe says:

I’d make pound cake first because I luuuuuurve me some pound cake. Yummmmm.

I’m pretty sure it would be time for a peanut butter and chocolate chip pie. Om nom nom.

  5. Lisa Brown says:

i would make dough for my favorite chocolate chip cookies

  6. Megan S. says:

My mom own that mixer in that Tiffany blue color, and it is SO pretty! (Also, I assume it’s a very good mixer too.)

Me, I’d bake cookies, and possibly finally learn how to make macaroons.

  7. MK says:

I don’t like nuts in cookies, and I absolutely DETEST them in bread!

  8. Lisa J says:

I would make some kind of bread.

  9. SAO says:

I just made an almond merengue tort with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. If I won this, I’d study my cookbooks and consult the person whose birthday is next.

  10. susan says:

I would bake either chocolate chip cookies or Passover Mandel bread. I have a hand held mixer that does not have the strength for very thick dough so the Kitchen Aid would be a real treat to have.

And the answer to nuts in cookies is Sometimes yes sometimes no.

  11. sarrible says:

I have a great recipe for chocolate-walnut-butter bread that I can only make at my parents’ house, because I don’t have a stand mixer and the batter is stretchy enough that it overwhelms a hand mixer. COME TO ME, KITCHENAID. IN BLUE.

  12. jcp says:

I would love to win and I believe in nuts in some cookies. Not sugar, though.

  13. Kareni says:

I’d like to learn how to make a Pavlova.

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  14. Lostshadows says:

Cookies, sans nuts. I like nuts, but for some reason I don’t like them in baked goods or candy bars.

  15. Amy says:

I would totally bake a fancy chocolate cake. And I like nuts in some cookies, like a totally fabulous brown sugar pecan shortbread.

  16. Rikki says:

I would make all of the things! Brownies and cookies and bread and cinnamon rolls…

    *drools just thing about it*

I love baking. It’s fun and actually pretty easy if you understand what’s going on (chemistry!). But the most important thing is that cookies should not have nuts. Nor should brownies. Or cakes. Pretty much no baked good (which is weird since I actually do like nuts). You can put them on top of frosting as a decoration though.

  17. What would I make first? Probably banana bread. Or cheesecake. Definitely NOT something with nuts though!
    Thanks for the chance! 🙂

  18. Sarah P says:

I would make a Chinese bakery style cake, because in no longer have easy access to Boston’s Chinatown!

  19. Francesca says:

I am noted for my icings, in particular my Swiss meringue buttercream. I would bake and ice all the cupcakes, plus I have wanted to conquer macarons for some time now.

I am very fond of nuts, but they don’t belong in any delicate cookie.

  20. Patricia says:

    Chocolate Chip cookies!

  21. Christine says:

I would definitely make something with dough, since it’s such a sticky pain to mix by hand. Bread, or maybe cinnamon rolls.

I don’t mind nuts in some cookies, although it obviously depends on the cookie (white chocolate macadamia nut cookies are definitely a favorite).

  22. Kacey Shoupe says:

I’m dying for some homemade cinnamon bread. 🙂

  23. Cheryl Ricin says:

I prefer chocolate chips in my cookies 🙂

  24. Jennifer C says:

Biscotti! I love making these quick and versatile cookies.

  25. Michelle says:

Have a whole slew of recipes to try with this!!!

  26. Lynda says:

Cookies. Luscious, wonderful cookies. That’s what I would bake. So I could eat them while I read the books!

  27. Meardaba says:

I would finally bake some of those chocolate-coffee-cherry cakes I’ve been eying online!

  28. Tiffany Grace Duncan says:

    Macarons

  29. Alex says:

    Chocolate cupcakes!

  30. Deborah Rines says:

I would make cookies, I think. No nuts. Ever.

  31. MarieC says:

I would bake peppermint meringue cookies

  32. g.a. says:

First, I shall bake everything involving whipped eggs and whipped cream. Souffle, pavlova, chiffon cakes, multilayered cakes with mousse and meringue based buttercreams.

  33. erinf1 says:

I’m not a big baker so I’d probably give it to my mom with the stipulation that she’d have to make me some cookies 😉 thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  34. Claudia Flattery says:

I don’t bake but would love to learn. Maybe I’ll try cookies. Of course ones with nuts.

  35. Amelia N says:

I would bake some Oreo chocolate chunk cookies. Think regular chocolate chip cookies but with crumbled up Oreos added into the mix!

  36. Heidi says:

I’ve been meaning to replace my wife’s KitchenAid mixer for 17 years, ever since the shipping company wrecked it when we moved to Chicago together and we decided the insurance money would be better spent on rent than a new mixer! We’d make cake, of course, because we like to be the girls with the most cake!

  37. Sita says:

Honestly, bread! Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread. 🙂

  38. Olivia says:

I have always wanted a mixer! I would definitely make my grandma’s cheese crackers first, which you have to knead into a giant ball of dough, and I always get that stuff under my fingernails which then smell like cheese for a few days.

And random question: when someone is chosen as the winner, do they get emailed? Just wondering, cause I don’t remember seeing any announcements about the anniversary contest winners…

  39. bev says:

Chocolate chip cookies. They are my very favorite, but rarely take the time to make them. It may seem like a slightly boring recipe but fresh baked cookies and cold milk are just a joy.

  40. PJ Wala says:

Oooh! I have ALWAYS WANTED TO MAKE PASTA OF MY VERY OWN.
