Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris is $1.99 at some vendors, including Amazon and Google:Play. This is book 1 in the Sookie Stackhouse series, which went on to become True Blood on HBO. I remember reading this book and being sucked in (no pun intended) (oh, who am I kidding, pun TOTALLY intended) immediately. If you’ve been curious, this is a great opportunity.

RECOMMENDED: Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost is still $1.99, though the sale is ending soon. This is the first book in the Cat & Bones/Night Huntress series, and I reviewed it back when it came out in 2007:

I really liked this book, especially the heroine.
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

I feel like I’m being spied on- I bought 3 out of 4 of these books in December. Don’t think they were on sale at the time, which sucks, but I liked them all. My vampire kick is running out of steam, though.
