Books On Sale

Reader Favorites from Mira Grant, Georgette Heyer, and Shannon Hale

Among today’s Kindle Daily Deals are five books by Georgette HeyerThe Grand Sophy, The Corinthian, The Toll-GateApril Lady and Pistols for Two: ( A | K | AB )

Pistols for Two is a collection of short stories which has a 3.7-star average. This might make a lovely gift for a short story, Regency fan or Heyer fan you know.

The Grand Sophy ( A | BN | K | G | AB | Au ) is a reader favorite as well, but due to a really offensive character that ruined the book for me overall, it’s not a favorite of mine. However, don’t deny yourself if you’re curious, because $1.99 is a great price for this one, or any of these books!

  • Feed

    Feed by Mira Grant

Feed by Mira Grant is $1.99 as a Kindle Daily Deal with price matching – woo hoo! Nice job, price matching fairies! This is book 1 in the Newsflesh series, which is a mix of dystopian horror, urban fantasy, and science fiction. This book has a 3.8-star average at GR, and though the book is a long one, readers who liked it say it’s incredibly absorbing and terrifying.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

Now, twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives-the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

FEED is the electrifying and critically acclaimed novel of a world a half-step from our own—a novel of geeks, zombies, politics and social media.

  • Book of a Thousand Days

Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale

Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale is $1.99 at Amazon as a Kindle Daily Deal and $2.99 at BN and Kobo. If you purchase the Kindle copy, the unabridged audio is also $1.99. This is an award-winning teen YA fantasy retelling of a lesser-known Grimm fairy tale, and it has a 3.9 star average at GoodReads. When this book has been on sale previously, many SBTB readers have praised it, saying it’s incredible reading.

When Dashti, a maid, and Lady Saren, her mistress, are shut in a tower for seven years because of Saren’s refusal to marry a man she despises, the two prepare for a very long and dark imprisonment.

As food runs low and the days go from broiling hot to freezing cold, it is all Dashti can do to keep them fed and comfortable. With the arrival outside the tower of Saren’s two suitors–one welcome, the other decidedly less so–the girls are confronted with both hope and great danger, and Dashti must make the desperate choices of a girl whose life is worth more than she knows.

With Shannon Hale’s lyrical language, this little-known classic fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm is reimagined and reset on the central Asian steppes; it is a completely unique retelling filled with adventure and romance, drama and disguise.

  1. CelineB says:

How the Scoundrel Seduces by Sabrina Jeffries is $2.99. It’s the third book in her latest series; the fourth comes out later this month. This series hasn’t been my favorite by Jeffries but I’m always interested in reading her books.

  2. Astral Marc says:

April Lady and The Toll Gate are kind of middling, imo, but I liked The Corinthian- it has a cross-dressing heroine, for people who like that.
