Anything by PG Wodehouse
I go to Damon Suede’s HOT HEAD when I need tons of heat and a little angst, Eden Winters’ DIVERSION when I need some smartalecky dialogue, and Clare London’s SAY A LITTLE PRAYER when I want to swoon over two very sweet yet sexy leads (an angel and an ice-cream vendor)!
The book that makes me the happiest when reading it is probably The Princess Bride. I’ve read it numerous times and I’ve seen the movie more times than I can count. But every time, I love it.
Anything by Lisa Kleypas!
Devil in Winter is a good one. Anything by Nora Roberts works, too.
I have the omnibus of The Hitchhiker’s Guide and I will always have fun with that!
These days, it’s Courtney Milan’s Suffragette Scandal.
Two of my favorite books right now are Attachments by Rainbow Rowell and Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. I re-read them on a regular basis.
I keep a bookmark permanently in my copy Georgette Heyer’s Friday’s Child, to the passage about how Gil is so proud of himself for successfully delivering Hero to her wedding without her picking up any livestock along the way. That paragraph never fails to cheer me up when I read it.
Anne of Green Gables and The Blue Castle
“Bet Me” by Jennifer Cruise is the best pick me up novel ever!
any historical by Lisa Kleypas…am still trying to get into her contemporary. Her historicals just bring so much happy
Christine Feehan’s Dark Slayer with its triumph of good after adversity.
For me there isn’t a specific book unless it is one that I have been waiting on for a long time, I just generally get a giddy feeling when I get to read a romance in general especially after a particularly bad or long week or day!
Bellwether by Connie Willis. It has a statistics/fad researcher and a complete geek as heroine and hero. I reread it every other year or so, and I always get the warm happiest!
At the moment, The Fault in Our Stars makes me happy when I most need it even though it makes me cry every time. 🙂
84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff. I love that book, and it reminds me that the world is full of good people, which I sometimes forget.
No specific book. Books generally just make me happy.
If You Ask Me by Libby Gelman-Waxner really does get me giggling out loud!
My fav book of all time…Mistresses of Mayhem
Not sure I could choose just one, but most of Shelly Laurenston’s fit the bill nicely!
Anything by Courtney Milan pick me up from a bad mood.
Smooth-Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas! I always finish this book with a smile on my face!
Sunshine by Robin McKinley is my all time fallback book. I have no idea why!
Pride and Prejudice or Beauty by Robin McKinley
The Blue Sword was probably my first comfort read – the first book I immediately reread upon finishing, and I’m probably somewhere around 20+ rereads now!
I also love The Madness of Lord Ian – fabulous characters and while I really liked the rest of the series, that first book is amazing!
I have a soft spot for The Little White Horse. Something about it always feels satisfying
