This Saturday, January 31, 2015, Smart Bitches will be ten years old. Yay! We’ve been counting down each month looking back at some of the most popular pages in the site’s archives over the past year. Now it’s time to party!
So all this week, we’re celebrating with two giveaways each day – ten in all (see my elite math skills there? I double checked them, too) – until Saturday.
Over on the right, we have John DeSalvo and his hot pink gladiator outfit, because I have decreed that the 10th Anniversary for a Romance Blog must be decorated with hot pink gladiators. Or at least with a nipple. The traditional gift is now one DeSalvo nipple looking at you. Or me. Or both.
We have books, puzzles, crafty things, pretty things, sparkly things, drinky things – all the things! We’re giving away All the Things to celebrate.
Each giveaway will be open until 31 January 2015, and each prize pack is open to international residents where applicable by law. Must be over 18 to win. Void where prohibited.
Ready for the first pair?
This giveaway features 2 oz. of Cinnamon Plum loose tea from Fava Tea, a favorite of Elyse’s, who says, “This herbal tea lacks caffeine but the tart plum flavor and cinnamon will still perk you up.” Also included: paperback copies of Outlander, Voyager and Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. Plus, copies of The Winter Bride by Anne Gracie, a digital copy of Pride, Prejudice and Popcorn by Carrie Sessarego, The Heartbreaker Prince by Kim Lawrence, Unbroken by Maisey Yates, Traitorous Attraction by CJ Miller, The Witch of Clan Sinclair by Karen Ranney, The Switch by Lynsay Sands, and Lady Windermere’s Lover by Miranda Neville. Tomorrow brings two more – the mayhem continues all week! Thank you for celebrating with us!

Congratulations on your anniversary. I only discovered you about 6 months ago, but never miss a day now. I love your commentary and reviews.
Happy Anniversary! I discovered Miranda Neville here as well.
Thank you for all the congratulations!
If the giveaway widgets are not loading for you, I apologize! You might have luck trying a different browser, but I’m working on figuring out why they aren’t working. Sorry about that!
Happy anniversary! It was thanks to you that I discovered Rainbow Rowell (specifically Fangirl).
Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary! Your site has introduced to me to too many authors to mention – Courtney Milan, Sarina Bowen, Robin LaFevers, Patricia Gaffney…the list goes on. Some authors (and movies!)which I would have never thought to try, but your reviews convinced me. Love the cover snark, and love the podcasts. Thanks for the many times I ended up ROFLOL.
Happy Anniversary! It’s really great how the community has grown and evolved over the years. There is less shame in reading ‘bodice rippers’ and more books celebrating HEAs.
There are perhaps too many authors discovered through the bitchery to name just a few, but one author I discovered from the site was Gail Carriger. I loved the victorian paperdolls used to promote her debut novel, Soulless.
I hope to finally win one of the prizes–ANY prize at this point as I’ve never lucked out on any of the giveaways–but just being part of the community is fun in itself. So cheers to the ladies at SBTB and all the lovers of romance out there!
I found so many new authors here, including my favorites Loretta Chase and Courtney Milan!
I don’t even know where to start–the first one that pops to mind is Karina Bliss, but there are so many! Thanks Smart Bitches
I discovered Miranda Neville and Courtney Milan here. Also it inspired me to try Loretta Chase after I disliked the one book of hers that I read.
I’ve learned of so many books on this website that I have a growing list. I am constantly playing catch up. Next up on the list is the Rosie Project.
Happy Anniversary! You look ‘mahvelous’ darling!!
Miranda Neville and Courtney Milan
I have to thank you guys for like 90% of the books I discovered, but especially Courtney. I started reading her after the review of “Unlocked” and the rest is history…
Congratulations to 10 years of bitchery! Without you, I would have never discovered The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable Girl by Sharon Kendrick – I was enthralled by your review and just HAD to read it. It was amazing.
Who have I not discovered here? Aaron, Aaronovich, Andrews, Bach, Brook, Bujold, Buroker…Knox!…Milan!…Turner!…. You get the idea. Again, smart bitches read everything. Many thanks, SB!
I’ve discovered numerous authors from SBTB including you, Sarah Wendell! Loved the Chanukkah book.
I discovered Sarah MacLean (yay podcast!)
Happy Anniversary Week! How very exciting!
I discovered Courtney Milan here!
Reading SBTB remains the brightest spot in my day. Happy Anniversary and thank you!
Oh man, I have discovered so many authors through the Bitchery!
Victoria Dahl, Ann Aguirre (way back when!), Jaci Burton, Megan Frampton…I could go on and on for a good long while, actually.
Some of them I’ve enjoyed and am a fan of now, others I tried and realized they weren’t for me.
But the discussions and the discovery are always great.
Probably 80+ authors in the past 4 years. Like @Kellie, SBTB has been the impetus and source for almost all my romance reading, ever. LOVE you all.
Haha, this blog is where I discover almost all new to me authors! Off the top of my head the ones that have made me happiest are Laura Kinsale, Jennifer Crusie, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
I also fell in love with Loretta Chase from SBTB. Also Anne Gracie!
Gosh, JT, it would have been so cool if it was the wood anniversary. As for authors I’ve found, TNTC which is what the lab used to put in the results column, meaning “too numerous to count.” Now we have computers and they can count anything.
I discovered Joanne Bourne’s books through SBTB and fell in love. (I wouldn’t have touched Spymaster’s Lady if the review hadn’t basically said “ignore the cover, read the book.”) Love SBTB!
Happy anniversary SB! I can’t recall just one author I’ve discovered here; there are many, because – alas for my wallet & now-massive TBR – the community here is full of awesome suggestions!!
Happy anniversary!! I’ve discovered a few authors through SBTB, but my favorite is probably Courtney Milan.
Bonne Anniversaire mes amies!! Thank you for bringing the snark & continuing to bring it brilliantly for ten years!! Not only have you introduced me to so many great authors (Sherry Thomas & Sarah MacLean just to name two), you have also opened my eyes to the wonders of Dinoasour erotica & King of the Orcas. (I don’t know if I should hug you guys or hit you guys for those two, but honestly, I was too busy laughing). Looking forward to ten more years of the Bitches honest, unflinching & hilarious form of romance review tough love. BRING IT!!
I’ve discovered a lot of books here! I loved The Golem and the Jinni, which I probably wouldn’t have read if I hadn’t seen the review here. I also read The Girls of Atomic City based on the interview with the author.
Happy Anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years.
Thanks to SBTB, I have discovered I’m not alone in my love of sassy, well-written romances and that there are great gems in there. I think I’ve discovered so many good authors through here, but I’m having trouble remembering all of them. I know you’ve started me on my love of Courtney Milan, but I bet if I go through my Goodreads list, half of them are thanks to the commenters here!
I’ve learned about so many new authors from this site, but I think my favorite is Courtney Milan.
Answer –Rose Lerner.
Great prizes–especially the puzzle. ????
I just discovered SBTB a few months ago and because of you read Flowers from the Storm.
Thank you for the BEST BOOK HANGOVER EVER!
Honestly, SB is my go-to for romance and I don’t often try stuff on my own, so you are all responsible for almost every amazing romance and every amazing author I’ve experienced over the last ten years. Love ya’ll forever.
Most of my books from 2011-2013 came from SBTB! So, so many good authors.
I’ve read so many good recommendations here (the What Are You Reading? and HABO columns alone are budget-busters for me, to say nothing of the other awesome columns & reviews), but two that immediately come to mind are Courtney Milan and Jim C. Hines. Here’s to many more years of snark, man-titty, knitting, & other assorted craziness!
Yay! I cannot even say how many books I have found through this website. It is still my go-to when looking for new books and authors.
I’ve discovered so many authors here! It was one of the first sites I discovered when I started reading romance, and is my favorite. My favorite SBTB discovery was Courtney Milan.
I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! I have discovered so many great books through SBTB. Thanks and here’s to another 10!
