Amazon continues with the excellent deals this week, and today there’s price matching. Yay, price matching fairies! They are earning their vacation time this week, I think.
Alas, the fairies are working out this particular deal, but I didn’t want you to miss it in case you know someone who would love these books. There are six Calvin & Hobbes collections on sale for $1.99 each today. If you know a kid who likes comics, or likes Phineas and Ferb, or both, the Calvin & Hobbes collections would probably make them very happy indeed. We own two, and while they’re best on as large a tablet screen as possible, they’re still wonderful. Ah, nostalgia on sale. So powerful.
And if you’re a fan of the Lucky Harbor series, five books including the most recent three are on sale as part of today’s deal – a perfect time to gift a copy to someone who you know loves contemporary romance, or to yourself.
It’s in His Kiss

It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis is $2.99. This is book 10, and the start of the last trilogy set in Lucky Harbor. This story, like the others, has a 4+ star average. Readers like Holly particularly liked that the hero is informally adopted into his best friend’s family, and they don’t let him forget that they are behind him.
Becca Thorpe has uprooted her life and escaped to the beach. Now’s her chance to get away from city living, throw caution to the ocean winds, and live in the moment. Especially if the moment includes the deliciously sexy surfer she meets shortly after arriving in Lucky Harbor. Something about the dark intensity of Sam’s eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile.
Boatbuilder and investment genius Sam Brody is a self-made man who knows how dangerous it can be to mix business and pleasure. But he can’t resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. Yet when her brother comes to town asking for help, will he tempt her back to her glamorous life in the city? Or do Sam and little Lucky Harbor have a chance to win Becca’s heart?

He’s So Fine by Jill Shalvis is $2.99 pretty much everywhere. This is book 11 in the Lucky Harbor series, starring a woman hiding her past behind a new identity, and a hot dude – look, there’s always a hot dude – charter boat captain. The Lucky Harbor series is organized into trilogies, and this trilogy is focused on the charter boats in the harbor.
This book has a 4+ star average, and readers who liked it said they laughed harder reading this book than the others in the series.
For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It’s the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she’s rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she’s ever laid hands on.
Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to “save” him. In fact, he’d like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He’s just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole’s heart, or will it be the end of Olivia’s days in little Lucky Harbor?

One in a Million by Jill Shalvis is $2.99 today. This is book 12 in the Lucky Harbor series, and came out earlier this year. The heroine runs a wedding planning business and returns to Lucky Harbor, her home town, to find her high school crush is still hot, and is now a deep sea diver with a teenage son.
This book has a 4+-star average at GoodReads, and readers who liked it say it’s got all the expected humor and hilarity they wanted.
As the brains behind wedding site TyingTheKnot.com, Callie sees it all: from the ring to the dress, the smiles . . . to the tears. It’s that last part that keeps her single andnot looking. Getting left at the altar will do that to a girl. But when Callie returns to her old hometown, she finds that her sweet high school crush is sexier than ever. And he makes it hard to remember why she’s sworn off love . . .
Tanner is a deep-sea diver with a wild, adrenaline-junkie past-and now his teenage son is back in his life. How can Tanner be a role model when he’s still paying for his own mistakes? It’s hard enough that gorgeous Callie has appeared in town like a beautiful dream, challenging his best-laid plans to keep his heart on lockdown. Though there’s something about being around her again that makes him feel like he can be the man she-and his son-deserve. Little Lucky Harbor holds their past; can it hold a beautiful new future

The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis is $2.99. This is book 2 in the Lucky Harbor series, and focuses on the older sister of the first trilogy. She’s starting her life over – a repeated theme in Lucky Harbor – and is a brilliant cook whose recipe names are as smartassed as she is. The hero and heroine had a fling long, long ago, and have to work out those issues before they can try again, too.
Tara has a thousand good reasons not to return to the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. Yet with her life doing a major crash-and-burn, anywhere away from her unfulfilled dreams and sexy ex-husband will do. As Tara helps her two sisters get their newly renovated inn up and running, she finally has a chance to get things under control and come up with a new plan for her life.
But a certain tanned, green-eyed sailor has his own ideas, such as keeping Tara hot, bothered . . . and in his bed. And when her ex wants Tara back, three is a crowd she can’t control-especially when her deepest secret reappears out of the blue. Now Tara must confront her past and discover what she really wants. If she’s lucky, she might just find that everything her heart desires is right here in Lucky Harbor.

At Last by Jill Shalvis is $2.99. This is book 5 in the Lucky Harbor series, and focuses on a park ranger who is tortured by horrible memories of his life as a cop, and a heroine who is trying to find a sense of belonging through her grandmother’s journal, which she wrote while living in Lucky Harbor. This book has a 4+ star average, and readers say it’s both humorous and poignant.
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she’s looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she’s tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won’t make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.
A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn’t let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can’t deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it’s up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

Calvin and Hobbes is so damn smart. I read it and loved it when I was little, but rereading it as an adult, there’s SO much brilliant commentary going on, all handled in such a clever, honest, genuine way. Everyone should read Calvin and Hobbes, whether they’re six or sixty.
Oh my goodness, thank you for the Calvin and Hobbes notice! I recently bought a tablet specifically for art/photography/comic books as well as tablet-y things, so being able to get SO MUCH C&H is amazing. Thank you thank you!
