You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO request is from Yasmin:
Wassup bitches?!!
Anyone else here named after a heroine of a romance novel? A not especially good romance novel? Nope?
Ok…moving on.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that I started reading romance novels early. I was in 7th or 8th grade (so…1988-89-90) when I read the one that would make me a trashy book lovah for life. And I would really really love to find that book again!
So here goes: it’s a harlequin (navy blue cover?) about a woman who for REASONS goes to Alaska to be a mail order bride, or just to meet the guy first?
Anyway, she’s in a tiny plane and takes something for air sickness, which obviously leads to her not realizing that she is actually getting married at the ceremony that occurs when she steps off the plane.
Then she goes back to his cabin in the woods, hot sex etc. etc. true love. etc.
Anyone???
Whoa – what kind of air sickness medication was that?! Anyone recognize this book?

I think it’s “Mail Order Bride” by Debbie Macomber

And can I just say when I was looking for this, these came up and sound KRAZY!!!
“Northern Magic Alaska” by Janet Daily
and
“Manhunt” by Janet Evanovich
Maybe one of Debbie Macomber’s Midnight Sons series? The dates don’t look right, but Alaska and at least one mail order bride.
Dramamine can knock some people on their ass. So it is believable.
Lol Vicki I just laughed SO HARD. My husband gve me crazy eyes.
I kind of definitely want to read this
Could it be a Lori Wilde book? I read a bundle on the Bachelors of Bear Creek, one of them sounds like this…I think it was single and searching… but now I have to read them again 🙂

Commenting not for the book, but for the prompt about the name. My cousin’s name is Silhouette…because her Mom loved Silhouette novels. I’m guessing that’s the uber romance-related name?
@Jace:
That. Is. Amazing. I think you’re right – that is the uber-romance name.
Have no suggestion for the HABO.
But on the medicine – I would say “That could totally happen to me on Dramamine” bc, whoa, that stuff makes me drunker than alcohol while maintaining the ability to walk (stumble?) and talk (mumble?). That said…there was a rather infamous night in my youth when i refused to sign a medical release after falling at a club bc i couldnt comprehend it, so in actuality that probably couldn’t happen even on the Dram. But theoretically? Yes, totally plausible. 🙂
I can’t help with the book but, while it is not a romance novel, I was named for a very artsy, independent female on a soap opera my mom liked. Which is an awesome story that landed me with a rather normal name. XD
I was named after Katharine Hepburn! Though, because my aunt’s name was Katherine, my mom went with Katelyn. Still though, the sentiment remains.
Well since others are commenting, to add mine, I was named after Olivia D’Havilland. When my mom was a teenager, her family was in the audience for a game show (I think Price is Right), and she was sitting in the seat chosen for a special gift that was presented by Olivia D’Havilland, ended up with a full on wedding like china set at age fourteen, which she still has.
I was named for an ex-girlfriend of my father’s. Which is apparently a theme in my family, as my grandmother was named for her father’s first wife.
Me! *waves and jumps up and down* My pregnant mother read The Legend of the Seventh Virgin by Victoria Holt, and a lifetime of misspellings and mispronunciations was born. I do love my name, but I went more, er, recognizable with my own kids. 🙂
You guys! It was totally the Debbie Macomber book – thanks!!!
And I love that there are others with similar name stories!
Finally – sorry for not responding sooner! REASONS, ya know?
Love you all!!
I was named after a friend of my parents who is a painter. Word has it her mom named her for an exotic dancer. Which is also why I don’t know the linguistic origin of my name, could be from Spanish, could be from Hindi. Either way I probably pronounce it wrong 😛
