Books on Sale: Cyber Monday Deals Use the Word Cyber

Everybody, pace yourselves. It’s time for that day when overuse of the word “cyber” makes us all a little tired. But the good news is, there’s bucketloads of deals on books!

AllRomance is having their annual Cyber Monday rebate sale: 50% eBook Bucks Rebate on all eligible titles all day long.

Amazon has a ton and a tonne and possibly a ton of deals. First, there’s a coupon code for today that’s good for 30% print books: HOLIDAY30.

The Kindle Daily Deals today are also epic: thousands of books, marked down. Here are some highlights.

  • Four Laura Kinsale historicals are included: Uncertain Magic ( A | BN | K | AB ) , Seize the Fire, Prince of Midnight, Shadowheart and Midsummer Moon are .99c! More information on some of these titles is below-  because buying the Amazon Kindle book often triggers a reduced price at Audible, and the Kinsale audiobooks narrated by Richard Boulton are something else.
  • Five Sandra Kitt romances are also included at $1.99 each – Color of Love, Close Encounters, Southern Comfort, She’s the One and Significant Others.

If you’re already an Audible member, there are a bunch of audiobooks on sale for $4.95 each for a limited time – until tomorrow (12/2) at midnight. And if you’re not an Audible member, you can join and get 3 months of Gold Membership at 50% off.

Zazzle has a big discount today, too – and I’ve been working on adding new products to the SBTB Zazzle Store, including a Reader Enabler pillow and a Ladies flask. (I also spent most of the weekend cooking in my Smart Bitchin’ in Your Kitchen apron).

Today you can get discounts on a ton of their products by using coupon code ZAZCYBER2014.

  • The Harder They Fall

The Harder They Fall by Jill Shalvis

The Harder They Fall by Jill Shalvis is $1.99 today as part of Cyber Monday. I have no idea what’s up with that cover. This was originally a Loveswept title published in 1998, and features a NASA scientist hero and a heroine who sounds a bit like a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Have you read this one?

He had a voice that could melt the Arctic–and a gaze that scorched all it touched . . . .

He prided himself on always staying in control, but Dr.  Hunter Adams had never met anyone as unpredictable–or delectable–as lingerie saleswoman Trisha Malloy! His tease of a tenant seemed to have a talent for disaster when it came to her apartment, but her dazzling smile and spicy kisses turned each crisis into playful passion.  Getting Hunter to admit his feelings wasn’t easy, but could a clever captor finally win his stubborn heart?

Exhilarating . . . bewitching . . . impossible to put down! Jill Shalvis’s fast-paced romp stars wonderfully mismatched lovers who are stunned to discover they’re mad for each other! He adored her in silk and loved her in leather, but could a slightly staid scientist survive the constant but charming chaos that seemed to be his lady’s middle name?

  • The Prince of Midnight

The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale

The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale is 99c today as part of Kindle’s Daily Deals -and that price is matched at BN. This book has a 3.8-star average at GoodReads, though many of those reviews are from readers who have re-read the book by listening to it performed by Nicholas Boulton.

He was once a legendary highwayman. Now he’s a recluse in a ruined French castle, with only a half-wild wolf for a companion.

When Lady Leigh Strachan comes looking for a man to aid in her revenge, she is disillusioned to find that the famed Prince of Midnight could not help even if he cared to—which he does not.

    S. T. Maitland wants nothing to do with his legend, or with this fierce, beautiful, broken woman . . . until the old thrill of living on the cutting edge of danger begins to rise in his blood again.

  • Midsummer Moon

    Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale

RECOMMENDED: Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale is .99c today as well. Carrie reviewed this book and gave it a B+, saying, “I believe that the best word to describe Midsummer Moon is “adorable”, and I mean that as a compliment.

It dances right on the edge of being hopelessly twee, but there’s a grounding element of emotional truth that makes the stakes real and powerful.”

This is a reader favorite Kinsale, in part because of the heroine, and because it’s a bit more lighthearted and funny.

    An impossible inventor…

Ransom Falconer, Duke of Damerell, is sent to see if Merlin Lambourne, the famous inventor, has created a truly magnificent innovation that can be used in the war against Napoleon. What Ransom doesn’t realize is that Merlin is a woman, and not everyone wants to see her invention become a reality…

    With dreams of flight…

Merlin Lambourne is a brilliant yet slightly eccentric scientist whose dream is to build a flying machine. Nothing can distract her from her goals, and Ransom offers her refuge at his estate, a safe haven to work on her invention undisturbed. But when Merlin’s dream puts them both at risk, Ransom must overcome his own fears and realize her invention may be the answer to saving both their lives…

The Prince of Midnight: shooting any troublesome flower that crosses his path!

  2. JacquiC says:

I notice that the amazon deals include a ton of romances by Amanda Scott. Anyone read her? They are incredibly inexpensive but my TBR list is so long that I don’t want to add them unless they are actually worth reading.

And as lovely as it is to see all these Kinsales, I will only “read” them by listening to the Nicholas Boulton versions. Such a delight and a treat that I just savour them.

  3. Karin says:

I bought 2 print books and used the HOLIDAY30 code. It only gave me a discount for one book, and that was the first book in my cart. So if you are buying multiple, put the most expensive one in the cart first.

  4. JW says:

Was I the only one who thought one of the first scenes in Midsummer Moon was really rapey? And not for the heroine who was down to clown, but the guy was basically roofied with an aphrodisiac and I had to stop reading.

  5. Darien Gould says:

I used the amazon discount code yesterday and want to emphasize two points: yes, it only works ONCE for any login – for only one transaction, and for only one book.

  6. kkw says:

I’ve read The Harder They Fall. I love Jill Shalvis. Unsurprisingly, she has gotten better over time, so I wouldn’t necessarily start someone off with that one. But any fan will enjoy it, particularly those who are interested in her evolution as a writer.

  7. AmyMac says:

Hey all! Heads up: All three of the Sorcery & Cecelia books by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer are 1.99 each today on Amazon Kindle. Get your epistolary romance on!

  8. Rebecca A says:

Or you can get all three of the Sorcery & Cecelia books by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer together for 2.99.

  9. Kate says:

I picked up The Sun Wolf and the Starhawk Series by Barbara Hambly for 3.99, because I’d seen some great mentions around here, as well as Octavia Butler’s Seed to Harvest series for 2.99!

  10. Kelly S says:

I signed up for Audible. I’ve been wanting to for quite a while and this was a good deal. Plus I’ve found that I truly enjoy listening to the Discworld series and reading it just isn’t as enjoyable. But to find the audio version in a library is challenging! So, 3 more Discworld books for me.

Oh, a note, with the new membership at Audible, I didn’t get a free book. Only 3 at the discounted price over 3 months.

  11. @SB Sarah says:

@Kelly S – EEP. I’m sorry about that! I must have read the offer wrong. My apologies.

  12. Vicki says:

It’s not a romance but King Dork by Frank Portman is on sale for 2.99. I suppose you could call it YA – it is set in a high school, there are many music references, there is a mystery. I must say I love this book with a burning love. It is Catcher in the Rye for a new generation (if you read the book, you will know what this means). Anyhow, check it out at amazon, B&N, or Kobo
