Books On Sale

Books on Sale: Three Nora Roberts and a Kresley Cole AND Sarah MacLean!

That sounds like the start of a bad joke: Three Nora Roberts and a Kresley Cole walk into a bar….

Either way, two out of three books in the Cousins O’Dwyer trilogy, which are Irish ParaNoras, are on sale right now, plus the recent romantic suspense title The Collector. Plus, a new Kresley Cole title is marked down substantially, too.

ETA 12:50pm: Via MsBookjunkie and Courtney Milan: Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover, by Sarah MacLean, is $3.99 at Amazon and Google. This book came out this week and received a dual A from Elyse and RedHeadedGirl!

  • Shadow Spell

    Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts

Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts is $2.50 at Amazon and Google right now. This is book 2 in the Cousins O’Dwyer trilogy, an Irish ParaNora that was published this year. The first book, Dark Witch, had been on sale for awhile, and the prices of books 2 and 3 have been fluctuating recently. This book has a 3.9-star average on GR. Thanks to MsBookJunkie for the heads up!

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken…

A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape—by a long-awaited kiss.

Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted—until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.

Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself—and their friendship—to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves…

  • Blood Magick

    Blood Magick by Nora Roberts

Blood Magick by Nora Roberts is also on sale for $2.50. This is book 3 in the O’Dwyer trilogy, and completes the trilogy. This book was just published on the 28th of October, and it has a 4+ star average. I’m not a big ParaNora reader, but I’m curious: if you’ve read this trilogy, what did you think?

County Mayo is rich in the traditions of Ireland, legends that Branna O’Dwyer fully embraces in her life and in her work as the proprietor of The Dark Witch shop, which carries soaps, lotions, and candles for tourists, made with Branna’s special touch.

Branna’s strength and selflessness hold together a close circle of friends and family—along with their horses and hawks and her beloved hound. But there’s a single missing link in the chain of her life: love…

She had it once—for a moment—with Finbar Burke, but a shared future is forbidden by history and blood. Which is why Fin has spent his life traveling the world to fill the abyss left in him by Branna, focusing on work rather than passion.

Branna and Fin’s relationship offers them both comfort and torment. And though they succumb to the heat between them, there can be no promises for tomorrow. A storm of shadows threatens everything that their circle holds dear. It will be Fin’s power, loyalty, and heart that will make all the difference in an age-old battle between the bonds that hold their friends together and the evil that has haunted their families for centuries.

  • Dark Skye

    Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

RECOMMENDED: Dark Skye by Kresley Cole is $3.25 at Amazon and Google – which is 87% off the price. Elsewhere it’s $12-17 for the ebook. This is book fifteen in the Immortals After Dark series, and has a 4.33-star average on GR. This is the story of Lanthe and Thronos, and it’s a friends-to enemies-to-lovers story, if that is perhaps your catnip.

Amanda reviewed this book and gave it an A-saying,

I have been waiting for this book for years, ever since Thronos and Lanthe were introduced in Kiss of a Demon King. That was seven books ago.

The two are natural enemies – a winged Vrekener and a Sorceri – but were childhood friends, and eventually more than just friendly attachments began to emerge. The Vrekeners killed Lanthe’s parents and, feeling that Thronos betrayed her, Lanthe commands him to fall from a great height without using his wings, using her power of persuasion. Since then, they’ve been enemies every since, despite Lanthe being Thronos’ mate.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW WHY I’VE WAITED SO LONG?!

How could you resist a plot like that?

    Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

    Endless Yearning
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

  • The Collector

    The Collector by Nora Roberts

The Collector by Nora Roberts is 87% off at Amazon and Google, priced currently at $3.75. This is a romantic suspense featuring a house sitter heroine who also writes children’s fiction and uses her observations of her temporary neighbors to write her books.

Bugger! The Sale ended – but read on for one more book!

The hero is an artist whose brother is accused of murdering his girlfriend then killing himself. He needs the heroine’s help to clear his brother’s name. This book has a 3.8-star average – and at that price, it would make a great gift for someone who might want to go hide and read this weekend.

When professional house-sitter Lila Emerson witnesses a murder/suicide from her current apartment-sitting job, life as she knows it takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly, the woman with no permanent ties finds herself almost wishing for one. . . .

Artist Ashton Archer knows his brother isn’t capable of violence—against himself or others. He recruits Lila, the only eyewitness, to help him uncover what happened. Ash longs to paint her as intensely as he hungers to touch her.

But their investigation draws them into a rarified circle where priceless antiques are bought, sold, gambled away, and stolen, where what you possess is who you are, and where what you desire becomes a deadly obsession. . . .

Never Judge a Lady By Her Cover by Sarah Maclean is $3.99 at Amazon, Kobo, and Google Play. It’s still $5.70 at B & N right now which it what it was at Amazon yesterday, the day it came out.

  2. Katie Lynn says:

I had such a hard time with the second O’Dwyer book that I didn’t finish it. The first is written from the required American’s POV, and was a good read. The second is written from the POV of one of the Irish cousins, which is fine, but the internal dialogue’s sentence structure is so convoluted and overly folksy that I would read a sentence and go ‘what the hell did I just read?’ and then have to read it again to figure it out. I’ve never had a problem with any of her other books set in Ireland, but it’s like reading an entire book in Yoda Speak

  3. Maria F says:

For Fiona Hill fans, her books have just been released on kindle (have not checked other vendors). A Trellised Lane is free; the others are $2.99 each, or you can get all of them (9 or so) in an anthology for $9.99. These are regencies published in the 1970’s, but they are not Almacks and dukes. My own favorite is A Country Gentleman. Witty, thoughtful, unusual, and fun.

  4. RevMelinda says:

Has anyone mentioned yet that Deborah Harkness’s just-published “The Book of Life” is just $3.75 now on Kindle?

  5. Crystal Hunt says:

Hmmm…. when I go to the listing for The Collector the kindle edition is showing at the non-bargain price of $16.41.And $15.99 on google play. Anyone else having this problem?

  6. @SB Sarah says:

Where are you, Crystal? Outside the US?

It seems the Kindle edition is back up to $11.99 (BUGGER) but this link for me to Google:Play shows the book available at $3.75 – which will probably change soon, too.

  7. @SB Sarah says:

That is just …wow – thank you for the heads up!

  8. Lesa Chadwick says:

The Kresley Cole book is coming across on Amazon as $10.99.

  9. Lesa Chadwick says:

Entangled Publishing has a plethora of tiles on sale for $0.99 on Amazon.

  10. L. says:

Totally off-romance-topic, but Andy Weir’s The Martian is only three bucks on Amazon. I’ve been dying to read this.

  11. library addict says:

I enjoyed the Cousins O’Dwyer trilogy overall, though I had some issues with the pacing. I didn’t like book two as much as the others and the couple in book three were my favorites.

  12. Keslynn says:

Will I be totally lost reading Dark Skye if I haven’t read the others in the series?

  13. Keslynn says:

Also, The Collector is still showing as $3.75 for me at Google Play.

  14. Julia says:

I have the same question as @Keslynn about Dark Skye.

  15. Moriah says:

There are additional Harper Collins titles available at $3.99 including a pre-order of Julie Anne Long’s It Started with a Scandal. Not sure if pricing error or how long it will last

  16. Lina says:

Amazon has quite a few titles on sale. Sophie Kinsella’s latest Shopahollic to the stars is $6.99 an awesome price for her new release. The book was really funny and sweet. In my opinion it revived the series. It was a really great book! Sandra Brown’s Mean Streak is 3.25 another great price for a new release.
Also Lisa Kleypas has 2 for $2.99 each Dreaming of You and Then Came You.Both are keepers and a steal at that price.

  17. DonnaMarie says:

@Keslynn & Julie, no, you should be okay. You’ll miss a few inside jokes, but there’s a glossary at the beginning of each book with relevant material. Love that about the IAD series. You can also go here: http://kresleycole.com/bookshelf/the-immortals-after-dark-series/ and find lots of stuff to bring you into the fold. However, this is one of the best PNR series out there so beware, you will want the rest of the books. You’ll crave them. You’ll be on them like a Immortal on his fated mate.

  18. Kareni says:

L., I really enjoyed The Martian when I picked it up off the new book shelf at the library back in April. (And I don’t ususally read science fiction!) My husband and I listened to the audio version on a long drive this summer, and he enjoyed it, too. He described it as porn for engineers. I think of it as a blend of (thinking movies here) Castaway and Apollo 13.

  19. JaniceG says:

Since you ask… I read the O’Dwyer trilogy but thought it was the weakest trilogy from La Nora since the Pagan Stone mess. It was basically a very familiar mash-up of her vampire trilogy with her witch island trilogy but with weaker writing. The “villain” was basically a generic boogeyman and the characters seemed to me to be almost interchangeable.

  20. @SB Sarah says:

Oh, bummer. But thank you for the review!

  21. Teresa says:

I finished reading the O’Dwyer trilogy last week and while I enjoyed the premise of the story and I LOVED the setting, Ireland is one of my go to destinations when I win the lottery, I didn’t enjoy the characters as much as I wanted to. The third book, Blood Magick, just really seemed to drag on for me and then all of a sudden everything was wrapped up and over. I haven’t read much Nora in the last few years but, I don’t feel, this was her best series. An enjoyable series overall just slow in places and the characters are a tad bit annoying. I’ll probably still read it again.
