Say Yes to the Marquess
Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare is available for pre-order at $3.79. This is book 2 of the Castles Ever After series, and will be released 30 December 2014. I gave book one of this series, Romancing the Duke, a B+ and recommend it for anyone who likes clever, funny, and sweet romances.
Your presence is requested at romantic Twill Castle for the wedding of Miss Clio Whitmore and … and …?
After eight years of waiting for Piers Brandon, the wandering Marquess of Granville, to set a wedding date, Clio Whitmore has had enough. She’s inherited a castle, scraped
together some pride, and made plans to break her engagement. Not if Rafe Brandon can help it. A ruthless prizefighter and notorious rake, Rafe is determined that Clio will marry his brother–even if he has to plan the dratted wedding himself.
So how does a hardened fighter cure a reluctant bride’s cold feet?
- He starts with flowers. A wedding can’t have too many flowers. Or harps. Or cakes.
- He lets her know she’ll make a beautiful, desirable bride–and tries not to picture her as his.
- He doesn’t kiss her.
- If he kisses her, he definitely doesn’t kiss her again.
- When all else fails, he puts her in a stunning gown. And vows not to be nearby when the gown comes off.
- And no matter what–he doesn’t fall in disastrous, hopeless love with the one woman he can never call his own.

It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long is available for pre-order at $3.79. This is book 10 in the Pennyroyal Green series, and will be released on 31 March 2015. Pennyroyal Green is a wonderful historical series, and is a reader favorite (I like it, certainly), and Long is a terrific writer of emotional conflicts and smart, funny dialogue.

The Book of Life
The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness is $3.75 right now at Amazon and Google. This book was released in July of this year, and is book 3 of the All Souls trilogy that began with A Discovery of Witches. This book has a 4+ star average, and is a hardcover, so it’s $10+ digitally at vendors where the sale price isn’t applied.
After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness’s enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches—with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency. In the trilogy’s final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences. In ancestral homes and university laboratories, using ancient knowledge and modern science, from the hills of the Auvergne to the palaces of Venice and beyond, the couple at last learn what the witches discovered so many centuries ago.
With more than one million copies sold in the United States and appearing in thirty-eight foreign editions, A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night have landed on all of the major bestseller lists and garnered rave reviews from countless publications. Eagerly awaited by Harkness’s legion of fans, The Book of Life brings this superbly written series to a deeply satisfying close.

Cooking with Chocolate
Cooking with Chocolate: The Best Recipes and Tips from a Master Pastry Chef by Magnus Johansson and Fabian Björnstjerna is $1.99 digitally at Amazon and BN. This cookbook has a 3-star review average on GR with few reviews. One says that the brownies are incredibly good, but all say that other recipes call for ingredients that may be hard to find for a home chef.
Even experienced bakers can be intimidated by the demands of successfully working with chocolate, which requires an experienced touch and careful handling to achieve great results. You can teach yourself this complex and delicate art through hours of painful trial and error . . . or you can master the skills of cooking with chocolate with help from one of the greatest pastry chefs in Europe!
Master chef Magnus Johansson has served desserts at Nobel Prize banquets and the birthday parties of Swedish royalty. Now he shares all of his tips, tricks, and recipes with you in this award-winning cookbook. While the results you’ll get from this collection are professional-caliber, the theme is simplicity: in every recipe, Johansson gives explanations of each step, helpful photographs to illustrate trickier techniques, and everything else you need to make successful chocolate desserts.
The delicious recipes featured here include:
- Buttercream Cake with Raspberries and Chocolate Cream
- Almond Macaroons with Cocoa Nibs
- Chocolate-Dipped Brioche
- Sugar Cake with Chocolate Ripple
- Spicy Chocolate-Coated Hazelnuts
- Chocolate and Blood Orange Tart
The recipes also include tips detailing all the processes and techniques for working with chocolate, such as tempering. Whether you are a dessert connoisseur looking to refine your skills with guidance from a master, or a beginner just starting on your journey into the world of chocolate desserts, Cooking with Chocolate has what you need!

Not on sale for Canadians 🙁 Boo. Tessa Dare and Julie Anne Long are two of my favorite authors. Sometimes Canadian prices catch up after a few days. Hope it does this time.
@Gemma from you lips to the publishers ears with respect to pre-order discounts for us Cannucks :-).
Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is $5.99 at Amazon at least; it was around $11 before. It wasn’t my favorite SEP but I still enjoyed it overall.
I just noticed that if you have Amazon prime they have an option where you can choose not a rush shipping and get a $1 credit for ebooks or music. Has this been going on a while? It’s giving me incentive to get my Christmas shopping done early.
Catch a Falling Heiress: An American Heiress in London by Laura Lee Guhrke is $3.79 at Amazon as well. Book release date is 1/27/2015
All of the Jessica Clare “Games” series are on sale for $.99, except for the first one, which is free
I so am going to read Say Yes to the Marquess as soon as I can get my hands on it all the way out here in Aus.
Bummed that the Canadian sites haven’t price-matched but at least my local library has the new Tessa Dare pre-ordered (downside: I’m #143 on the waitlist). And there’s no sign yet that they will be adding the latest PennyRoyal but since they have all the other books in the series, I’m optimistic.
The Tessa Dare and Julie Anne Long books aren’t on sale on Amazon US either. 🙁
Although I just now see the newsletter was sent out early yesterday and I didn’t receive it until this morning (2 hours ago). Perhaps I missed the US sale. double 🙁
