Truly by Ruthie Knox is .99c right now. Several people have emailed me about this sale and how excited they are to buy copies for friends who like contemporary romance, especially conteporary with feminist subplots running through the story. C. wrote:
I think I squeaked a little when I saw the price drop in my Amazon wishlist. I read this for free when it was published serially on Wattpad and it was a great experience, particularly since my best friend and I live in different states and we got to discuss each chapter as it came. I love Knox's work, and I loved so many things about this book but in particular I identified strongly with May. And it was only months later, when I ran across the Romance Novels for Feminists review that I saw it named: resistance of internalized sexism. It's something May accomplishes beautifully and something I desperately need to work on.
May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. After relocating to Manhattan from the Midwest to be with her long-distance boyfriend, NFL quarterback Thor Einarsson, May receives the world’s worst marriage proposal, stabs the jerk with a shrimp fork, and storms off alone—only to get mugged. Now she’s got no phone, no cash, and no friends. How’s a nice girl supposed to get back to safe, sensible Wisconsin?
Frankly, Ben Hausman couldn’t care less. Sure, it’s not every day he meets a genuine, down-to-earth woman like May—especially in a dive in the Village—but he’s recovering from an ugly divorce that cost him his restaurant. He wants to be left alone to start over and become a better man. Then again, playing the white knight to May’s sexy damsel in distress would be an excellent place to start—if only he can give her one very good reason to love New York.

All Fired Up by Vivian Arend and Elle Kennedy is .99c at some vendors, and $2.99 at others. This is a self published collaboration series that's very hot – the GR reviews mention menage and a lot of erotic content. Three alpha ex-military dudes open a dating advice service for men who want to impress their girlfriends and/or wives. What could possibly go wrong, right?
He’s ready to lead the way
Parker Wilson never thought he’d go from battle-hardened soldier to romance expert, but after his stint in the Rangers, that’s exactly what happened. As the owner of DreamMakers Inc., he helps other men win in the love department, using every resource available to plan the perfect date. When a routine recon turns into an unexpected night of passion, Parker’s mission becomes more personal—and he won’t give up until Lynn Davidson is all his.
She’s more than willing to follow
Lynn is a goner from the moment she lays eyes on the delectable Parker. She’s just ditched her boring almost-boyfriend and is tired of sticking to the straight and narrow. It’s time to walk on the wild side, and what better way than in the arms of the most irresistible man she’s ever met? But when their red-hot affair is threatened, it’ll take a team effort to make their dreams come true.

The Seductive One by Susan Mallery is $1.99. This book was originally published in 2003, and is a Mallery fan favorite. It's the third book in ther Marcelli sisters series and has a 4+ star average. Readers loved the hero in this one, and the love-hate banter between the hero and heroine. Have you read this book?
For the Marcelli sisters of California wine country, the season is ripe for romance!
Of all the Marcelli sisters, the one who dreams of running the family's winery is Brenna — and she's about to get her chance. But taking the helm at Marcelli Winery is tougher than she bargained for — especially when she butts heads with her grandfather, whose Old World ways dictate that a male should inherit the business. In need of some fast capital in order to prove her grandfather wrong, Brenna turns to Nic Giovanni, her family's nemesis….
Years ago, she ended her secret relationship with Nic, choosing loyalty to her family over the hot passion they shared. But now he's back in her life, he's loaned her a million dollars, and their feelings for each other are stronger than ever.
Brenna must find out for herself: is Nic the love of her life? Or the schemer who could topple the Marcelli dynasty — and break her heart?

Braises and Stews by Tori Ritchie is $2.99 digitally. In my part of the world, fall has arrived, and the mornings and evenings are much cooler – which is exactly when I start using my slow cooker and dutch oven at least once a week, possibly more. This cookbook has 70+ recipes and was first published in 2006. It has a 3.6 star average, and one reader, Kat, tagged it as “anyone wondering what to do with their Le Creuset,” which made me laugh.
Remember those tantalizing smells coming from Grandma's kitchen as she made her treasured, slow-cooked meals? Braises and Stews brings modern convenience and style to good old-fashioned comfort food.
Organized by main ingredient, this handy cookbook dishes up the secrets for making such savory one-pot meals as Classic Pot Roast or Pub Short Ribs.
Lighter fare like Coq au Vin prepared with white wine or a Roman-inspired Spring Stew of Favas, Artichokes, and Fresh Peas will appeal to those with smaller appetites. Why stew over dinner when there are so many tasty options to throw in the pot?

Ooh, I LOVED The Seductive One! I bought it in paperback about four years ago, and yes, the hero and heroine’s banter is lovely. I also am a sucker for warring-families/Romeo and Juliet-esque plots and second chance stories.
And I totally bought Truly yesterday – I was searching on B&N for cheap romances. I had a great trip to NYC in May and am planning another trip next month (helps to have a friend who lets me crash at his place in Brooklyn) and right now I’m all about anything New York.
Truly is full price in NZ, sadly. US$6.09 (around NZ$9) which is more than I can afford just now. Too cruel! Oh well, win some, lose some. I love Ruthie Knox. Truly joins the multitudes on my wishlist.
Love Truly so much. Am about 3/4 of the way through it.
Omg I love Truly. It is now on the list of my favorite romances of all time. No joke. I love Ben, I LOVE May (and I too identify with her), I love the setting (she gets WI so so right in sweet and funny ways), I love the way the romance progresses, I love that it’s funny but not silly,… I love this book. Contemporary romance fans, go buy this one, especially at this price! I want more people to discover Knox!
Just bought the book on braising. I live in a small northern town, not much to do in the evening. Fortunately my friends and I love to entertain, and I have a group of food-lovers over to dine regularly. In the winter, braised dishes are bar none the most popular thing I can serve on a cold November or December evening. Hope this inspires some new flavours!
Just wanted to let you know that BN links haven’t been working on my Note 2. Sadly for my wallet, I don’t let that stop me and search for the links myself. But then I assume you don’t get the affiliate data…
ETA: The link for Truly works, but not for All Fired Up.
And I got both, of course. 🙂
@Yaara:
Thanks – which link isn’t working?
