Before the month ends and the prices are likely to change, I want to recap some of the best and most popular deals from this month. Today: a whole bunch of Jill Shalvis novels on sale, including a trilogy and the first and seventh books of her Lucky Harbor series. I've been a fan of Shalvis' contemporaries for a long time (her book Instant Attraction) was one of the earliest Save the Contemporary books we featured in our now-uneccessary campaign to promote contemporary romance). If you're looking for funny sexy contemporaries, you should like these.
RECOMMENDED: Simply Irresistible is the first book in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series, and it's currently $2.99.
Maddie Moore's whole life needs a makeover.
In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (so not her decision). But rather than drowning her sorrows in bags of potato chips, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim the inheritance left by her free-spirited mother-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. Starting over won't be easy.
Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too. The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes-and mouth-are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men.
Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.

RECOMMENDED: It Had to Be You is Lucky Harbor #7, and it's still $1.99 at most retailers. Essentially the Lucky Harbor series is built on sets of trilogies, and this is trilogy #3, centered around three heroes.
This story has all the things Shalvis fans (like me!) love: excellent and hilarious dialogue, realistic character emotions, humor, extremely hot scenes (a good thing for today!) — plus the small town setting that many romance fans love. I read this one after skipping two books and had no problem reading it as a stand-alone.
Ali Winters is not having a good day. Her boyfriend left her, everyone in town thinks she's a thief, and now she's about to be kicked out of her home. Her only shot at keeping a roof over her head and clearing her name is to beg for help from a police detective who's as sexy as he is stern….
After a high-profile case goes wrong, Luke Hanover returns to his hometown for some peace and quiet. Instead he finds a bombshell brunette in a heap of trouble. As he helps Ali put her world back together, the pieces of Luke's own life finally seem to fall into place. Is this the start of a sizzling fling?
Or are Luke and Ali on the brink of something big in a little town called Lucky Harbor?

RECOMMENDED LIKE WHOADAMNHELL: Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis is $2.51/$2.99 right now.
This is a book I've recommended countless times, because I love it so much. It is one of my favorite contemporary romances ever. EVER. This was a “Save the Contemporary” selection for the campaign DearAuthor and I used to run, and I still love it when I re-read it.
Accountant Katie Kramer is a quintessential good girl—working hard, recycling diligently, all the while trying to ignore the feeling that she doesn't fit in anywhere. That's all she wants. Well, that—and amazing sex, and the kind of daredevil escapade she can look back on when she's crunching numbers in a dusty cubicle. Which explains why she just took a job in Wishful, California, working for Wilder Adventures and Expeditions. Waking up to find a magnificently built stranger towering over her bed—that part defies explanation…
After wandering the planet for months following a life-changing accident, Cameron Wilder has come back to the only home he knows. Under other circumstances, he might be thrilled to find a gorgeous woman sleeping in his cabin, but now, while he'll risk his body taking clients on adrenaline-drenched excursions, his heart is off limits. Still, Katie's killer smile triggers something deep in his gut… among other places. Showing her how exhilarating it can be to stop balancing her life as if it was a checkbook is the biggest rush he's ever felt—and an adventure Katie's wishing would never end..

Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis is $2.99 right now. This is book 2 in the Wilder series, which I loved. This series takes place in the Sierras at an adventure tourism company, and I really, really liked it.
In Instant Attraction, Jill Shalvis introduced Cameron, Stone, and T.J.; the sexy, daredevil brothers who run Wilder Adventures. And for Stone Wilder, the thrill of a lifetime is about to arrive in a surprising package.
The Doctor Is In Deep
Wishful, California, is 3000 miles from Dr. Emma Sinclair's last job in a New York City ER. It may as well be another galaxy. Here, running her father's clinic for a summer, Emma treats bee stings, stomach flu, and the occasional pet cat. Plus, she has to contend with patients like Stone Wilder: gorgeous, laid-back, and irritating beyond belief.
The man laughs at her. A lot. And Emma loathes him. All except that tiny part of her that wants to throw him on her examining table and break every doctor-patient rule in the book. . .
When Stone tries to help Emma learn to loosen up a bit, he pictures white-water rafting or scenic mountain hikes. Not a mind-blowing affair that shakes them both to the core. Emma's sure she has no place in a town like Wishful, but Stone knows different. Emma belongs here – in this town, in his life. And convincing this strong-minded, stubborn, sexy woman of that fact will be a challenge no Wilder man could resist. . .

Instant Temptation is the final book in the Wilder trilogy, and features TJ, the brother most likely to disappear in to the mountains for six weeks on a climbing trip. I thought this series was terrific, and if you haven't read it, I hope you'll try one.
To Harley, the landscape around Wishful, California, is exhilarating, untamed, and more than a little dangerous. The same could be said for T.J. Wilder, who's invited himself along on her trek to study a rare coyote. Harley's career is riding on this trip, and she doesn't need a stubborn, incredibly sexy distraction.
But T.J. is a professional guide who knows when to stay back and when to provide invaluable expertise-just like he's done since they were in high school. And Harley, as usual, is torn between throttling him and giving in to the raw attraction that's been smoldering all these years.
T.J. knows how proud and capable Harley is, but he's damned sure not letting her put herself at risk when there are illegal hunters in the area. She needs him, with the same soul-stirring urgency that he's always craved her. And here, in this beautiful place days from civilization, he'll finally have a chance to prove it-over and over again…

Good to know I’m not the only one who went on a Jill Shalvis buying spree this month. Loved the post-Christmas “well I can just pick myself up a few small reads” sale.
Well. It had to be you wasn’t discounted, but it *was* couponable at Kobo ( the upside with living in Sweden), so I bought it. I now have the first 7 Lucky Harbor books, and I have spent roughly 15 dollar. Which is the cost of 2 massmarket paperback. Yeah. I paused when I realised that. But hey, my budget is happy!
Mikaela’s example is why eReaders finally won me over. For the longest time I refused to try one because I was a book purist, until a family member bought me a Kindle. I was absolutely stunned to see not only how amazingly cheap I could get books, but how many were offered free as well! I was always a huge reader, but since getting an eReader I’ve read so much more, and from so many authors I might not have otherwise tried, that it’s paid for itself a hundred times over. Plus, having over 3000 books in my purse wherever I go is never a bad thing.
I noticed that a lot of Harper Collins books dropped in price on Amazon. Ones that were 5.99 before are 3.99 and ones that were 6.99 are now 4.99. I’m wondering if these are new price points for their ebooks or if this is just temporary. There are several that I eventually planned to buy at the higher price so now I have to decide whether to buy them now or wait until I would’ve bought them at the old prices and hope these prices hold.
The Jill Shalvis books are also on sale with Amazon in the UK – It Had To Be You is 99p and the Wilder books are £1.13. Thank you 🙂
Thanks for this, I picked up Instant Attraction.
